Closed Beta That Only I Played Chapter 92

At my house in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul.
"Really? Have you already reached level 300?"
"Yeah."
When I said that I reached level 300 this morning, my sister asked, startled.
Of course, I fully understood why she was so surprised for I had levelled up so fast that she could not dismiss it lightly.
However, according to my original plan, I should have achieved level 300 much earlier. And I could have done so if I had not gone through several things recently.
For example, the surprise attack by the 64 men including Soktae Kang, the Gahwa Guild leader, and Sungchang's recent boss monster raid.
Of course, I do not regret it because it was my decision to make Soktae Kang my enemy and participate in Sungchang's boss monster raid. Honestly, I don't want to make excuses by saying that this kind of stuff took so much time that it interfered with me levelling up.
Anyway, I shrugged and casually replied to my sister who was surprised by me levelling up to level 300.
"Hey. What the heck. Maybe you can hit level 700..."
At this moment, she singled out level 700.
In fact, I had already shown her the Ice Emperor's guardian sword which I had enhanced to +1, and told her that I was going to keep enhancing it on cooldown.
This sword was a precious myth-class item, and its safety enhancement was only 0 unlike other grades, so normally I couldn't even dream of enhancing it to +1.
If the sword was +5 enhancement as soon as I reach level 700, which was very possible taking into account the '100% enhancement success license' in my inventory, it was certain that my family members would feel very proud of me equipping a myth-grade weapon with a high enhancement level, saying they wanted to see it as soon as possible.
Then, my sister smiled at me as if she imagined me equipping the myth-grade item, then opened her mouth.
"Anyway, I'm happy that you're going great. It's good that I have prepared this for you. Here you go."
She gave me a document. Of course, I guessed what it was because I had once talked to her about this.
"Is this the level 300 only quest that Dad and brother mentioned?"
"Yep."
It was their original plan to advertise the name Asirante.
There was an 'arena quest' that was a level 300 only quest, , similar to the level 100 only 'enhancement quest' . As the addition 'only' suggested, only those with level 300, not 301, could participate in this quest. And what it entailed was literally fighting in the arena.
In general, the arena generally entails users fighting against each other, but this quest differs in that the opponent is not a user, but a monster.
So, I checked the document that she handed me and flipped through its pages.
At the start of the document, it was written that this quest has three paths: A, B, and C. Stronger monsters appear in each successive round of the quest regardless of the path chosen.
While I was checking the document, my sister opened her mouth.
"As you see, there are three possible paths: A, B, and C. Path A monsters are physical attack monsters, Path B monsters are magic attack monsters, and Path C monsters are hybrid attack monsters. For example, the long-rooted trees in the abandoned field of trees that you are hunting for now are physical attack monsters, I guess."
I nodded at her words.
After confirming my understanding, she continued, "You can't choose your path. When you challenge the level 300 only arena quest, the path is automatically selected for you. Of course, I can't tell you which one is better. For example, wizards with a strong magic defense would prefer Path B. Warriors specialising in physical attacks and fighters would prefer Path A, or maybe the hybrid Path C that mixes both."
Certainly, for most players, they are stronger and weaker against certain types of monsters because of their abilities, so they would hope to get their preferred type of monster.
But what about me?
I thought it didn't matter which type of monsters I faced because I was confident in dealing with all of them.
My sister continued as if she didn't notice how I felt about the three paths.
"Each path has a best achiever. For example, Path A's best achiever reached the 47th round, Path B's best achiever reached the 45th round, and Path C's best achiever reached the 44th round. Of course, there are more rounds than these people reached. However, the people who challenge this quest can only be level 300.
"If a user is level 600 or even level 1000, the Heavenly Level, they can easily go beyond the 50th round and even reach the final round, which may or may not exist, but unfortunately that is impossible. Even if you level up once to level 301, you are deprived of the chance to challenge."
Just like the level 100 only enhancement quest, this was a quest that people could only challenge once when they were level 300.
My sister paused for a moment, picking up the teacup in front of her, then said, "By the way, Juyoung, you are not the typical level 300. So even if you are lucky enough to meet the type of monsters that you are suitable against, or even if you have the highest level items that everyone at level 300 desires, it will not matter.. Am I right?"

I didn't refute her words because if I think too humbly of myself, it would instead make me look conceited or arrogant to others.
Anyway, while examining the document, I found the names of those who have won the 47th, 45th, and 44th rounds respectively.
[Best achievers of each Path.
-Path A: Alexander Willy. (47th round)
-Path B: Zhang Wei. (45th round)
-Path C: Olga. (44th round]
"Their IDs are…"
There were quite a few IDs. Of course, an ID is not one's real name, but a new name for the virtual character that a person has created. Therefore, judging a person by his ID alone is something to avoid because there are so many IDs that can be created.
However, there were some cases where a person used their real name as their character ID.
Even if it was not their real name, sometimes it was as close to their real name as possible.
That's why I thought of America when I saw the ID Alexander Willy, China when I saw Zhang Wei and Russia when I saw Olga.
And what that means is that this level 300 only arena quest, just like the level 100 only enhancement quest, is not a quest unique to each country server because of the 'wall', but a truly global quest.
I told my father, brother, and sister that I had succeeded in reaching the maximum enhancement of +12, the fifth time this has occurred in the game, because I possessed the God of Enhancement trait.
And they told me I was the first to get such a high enhancement in Korea.
In other words, I was the first in Korea, but the fifth in the world.
Anyway, my sister nodded and opened her mouth as if she read my mind.
"You're right. It is a quest that encompasses the whole global server, not just a country server. And those IDs are the most famous in America, China and Russia."
"But this document doesn't describe the monsters that appear beyond a certain round."
The highest round reached in Path A was round 47, but the document only showed the monsters that appeared up to the 43rd round. And it only showed the monsters up to the 39th round for Path B.
Of course, it didn't matter to me which monsters appeared, but I asked because I thought it was better to know it rather than wondering.
She summarized the reason in a short sentence, "Those are currently the highest rounds reached by Koreans."
"..."
She just shortly mentioned it like that, but I understood what she meant.
Of course, she continued, "All this is related to information. Those who already have the information won't let it leak out outside because of the rewards. Those who have more accumulated experiences and information will move forwards faster when the server wall breaks."
If I were in their position, I would probably do the same because that was the right approach.
Anyway, I spent time chatting about various things with my sister.
After our family members were done eating dinner, we all moved to the basement study like before.
At the basement study.
"So, you have examined the whole document?"
"Yes."
I answered, putting the document in my hand down on the table.
After confirming this, Dad opened his mouth with a gloomy expression, unlike before.
"Hmm. Juyoung, your ability is tremendous. No one will underestimate your abilities after witnessing your brilliant attack against the long-rooted ancient tree.
No matter which path you get, you will unconditionally surpass the best achiever until now, and you might perhaps even reach the final round."
Of course I will. Actually I made a plan on that with my father from the beginning.
However, I couldn't understand why he mentioned it to me with such a gloomy expression.
But I didn't ask because I knew he was going to explain why.
As expected, he changed to a neutral expression and said, "You will probably get a lot of attention. Yeah, much more attention than you can imagine. Of course, you have shown tremendous power in dealing with the long-rooted ancient tree this time, but you achieved it just here in Korea, after all. But this level 300 only arena quest is open to everybody in the world. So, it's only natural that people will respond to you differently because you can instantly surpass even those best achievers who reached the 44th, 45th, and 47th rounds based on their accumulated experiences and information."

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.
