Last Wish System Chapter 59

The battle hadn't been like they had predicted, but Yale's performance at the end of the fight gave Kermu the opportunity to finish the eagle.
Before anyone could say anything about the battle's result, Yale rushed towards Wyba and carried her to the eagle's corpse. Then, he soaked her in the eagle's blood and forced her to drink it before casting Time Healing.
The eagle's blood started to fuse with Wyba while Yale used Emergency Recovery to recover his Origin Points to be able to use Time Healing, the Origin Points he had at that moment weren't enough to cast Time Healing due to the consumption in the battle.
After casting the spell, the system sent another notification.
"The user's beast is recovered and entered in a slumber."
As Yale heard the system's notification, he smiled. Wyba being safe was something more important for him than obtaining any reward after killing the eagle.
Yale had surpassed his limits in that battle. He overused Bloodline Force and his Origin Points. He even needed to use Emergency Recovery in the end, so he was feeling extremely weak.
Once he finished healing Wyba, and he heard the notification, Yale fell unconscious.
The group looked at Yale with strange expressions. They had seen how Yale managed to use a peculiar method combined with his own healing to save Wyba.
Only Serka was able to understand Yale's method, and that was the reason why she was the most shocked of all.
Yale slept for a whole day.
On that day, Nurvey had set some spell formations in the eagle's previous nest, and they used it to rest.
Although Yale and Wyba were the only ones that fell unconscious, all of them were tired from the battle. They didn't even try to search for any reward after the fight finished.
After waking up, Yale looked at Wyba, who remained unconscious. The method to heal her was an extreme one, but it managed to turn misfortune to good fortune.
Wyba's potential would grow a lot after she woke up from the slumber.
Kermu had the intention to talk with Yale about the previous battle when he saw that he woke up, but Serka was quicker than him.
"Who are you?"
The group was surprised to hear Serka's question, Yale had indeed used some weird skills in the battle, but that wasn't enough to doubt about his identity.
Yale didn't know how to react because he was conscious that he used skills that a normal commoner kid wouldn't be able to use.
Yale feared that the Last Wish System or the fact he reincarnated would be discovered, so he tried to explain everything with calm avoiding the parts that implied reincarnation or some support from the system.
"I had already told you before. I am Yale. I am a commoner from a backwater city. The skill I used in mid-air previously is something that I haven't learned properly. I am only able to use it sometimes."
That wasn't false, Yale could only use it once per week, and he hadn't learned the skill properly because he didn't know how exactly worked.

"The method I used to heal Wyba is something I read in a book a long time ago. Combining monster blood with a proper healing spell is an effective method to reverse a deathly situation to a young beast."
That was also true, Yale had read it time ago, so it was recorded into the system's database. Although Yale didn't remember anything about that method before the system told him because he forgot, he had learned about it by reading the first time.
The original method only told about using the most powerful healing spell possible, so the system turned it to be Time Healing as it was Yale's most powerful healing spell.
"What about your healing spell?"
Serka still had a strange face as Yale explained the previous points, the other members thought that Yale's explanation made sense, but Serka continued asking.
"That spell is something that I can only use for a second, my talent and level isn't enough to use it properly right now. I learned it through enlightenment while observing healing magic."
It wasn't that Yale liked to be interrogated by others, but after everything he had shown, he felt that he needed to explain something, or the others might doubt his identity.
"You know someone else who can use it?"
Serka was really interrogating Yale, which was something strange as usually she was warm and didn't put pressure on others. However, for that same reason, Yale felt that she should have important reasons to do it, and he wasn't telling anything that he shouldn't tell anyway.
"My sister had the same enlightenment, but she had the enlightenment at first sight of some healing magic while I needed almost an hour. She is way better than me in healing magic. She is a real healer and can use that spell properly."
Yale didn't want to reveal the existence of Time Healing, but as the other party asked about the healing spell, he just explained the truth, omitting the spell's name and its element.
However, even that answer didn't make Serka's face return to normal.
"Tell me your clan's name. Don't worry about it, we wouldn't blame you for saying it."
Saying the name of the clan was the same as telling a surname, but as a noble was the one specifically asking for it, it was also the noble's duty to say that there wouldn't be any repercussions.
"That clan is named Roanmad, but I don't feel like I belong to it. I don't have anything left there. Furthermore, the clan doesn't have any relation to my skills or my sister's since we are the only ones with them."
The other three didn't know what was going out with Serka's interrogatory, but as Yale simply replied to everything without seeming in a bad mood due to it, they didn't stop her from asking.
"There isn't any way that such a puny clan has any relation with such skills, but that is only by your father's part, right? What do you know about your mother's family?"

That time, Yale's expression changed a bit before replying.
"I don't know anything. She died after I was born, and my father never told me anything about her. I don't even know her name, how would I know about her family..."
He wanted to know more about his mother, but he was unable to find anything.
That time no one could doubt about the veracity on Yale's answer. The grief in his voice was real.
"I see, can you tell me about the name of that backwater city and your academy."
Serka seemed to have been softened a bit after Yale's previous answer.
"Nacesai City and Nacesai Academy, both have the same name."
The previous question had been one difficult to answer, but since Serka didn't follow that topic and went to ask some basic information, Yale replied quickly.
"Are you sure that your mother died after your birth?"
Serka changed the topic again, after asking for the city and the academy returned to Yale's mother.
The others felt that asking that was a lack of tact as the topic was something that affected Yale
"I always thought that. However, lately, I have doubts about it. There is something off."
That time Yale didn't think before answer because that was something he pondered a lot, so he replied automatically. If that hadn't been the case, he would have been unhappy that Serka went back to the topic of his mother, although he would have probably replied anyway because it was better than having problems with the group.
"I understand, now it makes sense."
Serka returned to her usual expression while saying those words.
"Wait, Serka! Even if you understand something, we still don't know why you have asked that many questions to Yale. I bet you have your reasons, but you touched some delicate topics. He replied to everything to not create a conflict with us, but you should reflect a bit about how you have proceeded. Well, you already did it, and Yale allowed it, so let's forget it. What conclusion did you reach?"
Kermu felt that he needed to point Serka's lack of tact in her actions. It wouldn't have been strange if Yale got angry for that interrogatory. However, Kermu was still curious about what Serka had discovered, and the same applies to the other two.
"I discovered Yale's identity, as well as his mother's identity."
Serka's answer was unexpected. The others didn't understand how she managed to deduce anything like that with those questions.
The one who understood it less was Yale.
Even Yale didn't know anything about his mother. He didn't know how some words of him could reveal her identity.
As for the part about his own identity, he forgot about it when he heard the part about his mother's identity.
While Yale was still speechless, Kermu spoke to Serka.
"I know you very well, and you aren't the kind of person that would lie about such serious topics. Why are you sure you discovered their identities? Why did you have so much interest in it to interrogate him?"
At that time, Serka smiled warmly.
"Because of the healing spell he used. That spell is something Yale inherited from his mother's bloodline. It should be obvious to everyone since only he and his sister could use it inside that backwater clan."
Until that point, even Yale had already guessed it since he discovered that only he and Ange were able to use it. The others also reached that conclusion when they heard Yale's words.
"You don't have knowledge about healing, so it isn't surprising that you didn't notice it."
Serka turned to the other nobles when she said that sentence.
"The spell Yale used is Time Healing. I can't confuse it from another spell."
The faces of the nobles changed after hearing Serka's words because they knew their meaning.
"Moreover, the spell or skill he used in mid-air emanated time ripples; it was of the time element without a doubt. Furthermore, the level of that skill was extremely high. Even being able to use it sometimes without understanding it, isn't something that a normal kid can do."
At that moment, the only one who didn't understand the situation was Yale despite the explanation.
"Yale, I doubt you know about it, but the time element is our Zhan Clan's bloodline affinity, and Time Healing is a legacy spell is hidden within the bloodline. It is impossible to learn a complicated spell as Time Healing in the Mortal Rank without the clan's bloodline."
Yale was shocked. He indeed didn't know anything about the noble clan's specialties, so there was no way he reached that conclusion. On the other hand, if someone had told him about the specialty of the Zhan Clan, he would have discovered the origin of Time Healing by himself.
"In the last twenty years, only one woman from the Zhan Clan decided to leave the clan to marry some unknown man from a backwater city. That is your mother. It can't be anyone else. The city and clan she went when leaving the clan are the same as you have just spoken of."
Yale was still processing the information when Serka's next words shocked him even more.
"Some clan members are displeased with your mother because she was a rarely seen genius even in the Zhan Clan. However, you can be assured that I belong to the other faction, and I don't have any ill intentions towards you. After all, your mother is my mother's little sister, my aunt."
That revelation shocked even the other nobles. If Yale's mother was Serka's aunt, wouldn't that mean that both were cousins?
They had difficulties to believe that such a coincidence could really happen.

The Kodoku Game
In Japanese folklore, there once existed an ancient technique among alchemists for harvesting the strongest poison known to man. A poison so vicious, so horrendous, that a single drop could incapacitate an entire nation of humans, several times over. A poison so intense that a single drop could turn the tides of a war on its head. As potent as it appeared however, this poison could be harvested from the blood of a single insect alone- an insect the alchemist’s called the ‘Kodoku’. As lucrative as was attaining this poison however, the problem lied in identifying this insect- its appearance, shape and size changed from region to region and from continent to continent. Sometimes it took the appearance of a ladybug and other times a horned-beetle. In order to determine the identity of this special insect the alchemists came up with an ingenious method. They created an impregnable jar of clay out of the best sandstone they could find and placed hundreds of different insects into the same jar. The jar was made with such great mastery that it allowed no insects to escape and allowed no objects to enter. The laws of nature dictated that the insects would remain together in the jar forever. However, it turned out that as time went on, the insects’ hunger for food and power caused them to turn against each other- one insect ate another until only one remained. This sole insect contained a poison that far surpassed that of all the others and became stronger as it ate more and more insects. The alchemists at this point had succeeded in identifying the Kodoku and could extract it’s poison as long as they continued to feed it regularly. Although this folklore ends here, the actual story does not. One day, as the alchemists cheered in joy of having identified the Kodoku they so eagerly wanted, they forgot to close the lid on the very jar that was considered to be completely impregnable. This small gap was just large enough for the Kodoku inside to crawl out. Famished from not having been fed for weeks, the Kodoku ended up eating the very alchemists that nourished its growth until not even the bones remained. Yet, the Kodoku’s hunger didn’t seem to subside in the slightest. So it traveled to the next village and began eating whatever it could find there. Its poison made it unparalleled in strength and slowly but surely it began to dwindle down the population of the entire city. Yet its hunger only continued to grow. So it traveled to the next city over and ate all it could there. Very soon, the Kodoku couldn’t find any more food to eat. There was no one left to eat and no one left to spectate. So it stood there, by itself pondering what possibly was left to eat that could satiate its hunger. But there was one thing left that Kodoku realized it had never eaten. Itself.
