Reborn As A Giant Scorpion: Evolution By Consumption Chapter 33

Was Alex fine?
That was too terrifying.
Oh my god!
What did Ham see? Barrett's heavy armor-piercing sniper bullet was unable to kill this scorpion.
"Bang!" Ham heard a loud sound.
Ham saw that the armor-piercing bullet hit the scorpion's pincers, only leaving a shallow hole the size of a fingernail. Then, the bullet lost its strength and fell to the ground.
As if it had hit Ham's heart.
"Tiss!"
Ham's scalp went numb. How hard were the scorpion's pincers? Could it be more solid than a tank?
His brain could not imagine all of this. Yes, his mind had collapsed.
This mission was too terrifying.
Ham could not imagine that the creatures in the world had such a hard shell.
He had thought that the hunting mission this time would be easy. It was just a scorpion. No matter how powerful it was, it would not be able to block Barrett's armor-piercing bullets.
Now, Ham was deeply regretful.
At this time, Alex's pincers had already recovered.
He rushed to Ham again.
The two large pincers were like two heavy hammers that swung at Ham. Ham's face had a dumbfounded expression. Its speed was too fast. There was no time to dodge. He could only cross his hands in front of his head.
Alex's pincers hit Ham's arms heavily.
"Crack!"
The considerable impact caused both of Ham's arms to be severely deformed, exposing his bones.
He rolled on the ground for more than ten meters. He got up and looked at Alex in shock.
At the same time, Alex retreated quickly. The moment he moved back, a bullet flew over and hit the ground, making a small hole.
Then, the sound of the bullet piercing through the air came.
Because Barrett's bullet was too fast, the reason why Alex was able to dodge in advance was because of his sharp intuition.

If you relied on the sound of the bullet, the bullet would have already entered your body by the time you heard the sound.
"You still keep shooting. I'll find you first."
Alex crawled into the depths of the forest on the other side.
Ham hurriedly spoke into his headset, "Peter, that scorpion is heading in your direction."
On the other side of the wireless communication, a man wearing camouflage clothes looked at Alex in the 8x scope zoom and said, "I've already seen it. F*ck!"
As he said that, he threw Barrett sniper aside and fled into the depths of the forest. His speed was breakneck, and his body was agile.
Alex was chasing after him.
Peter did not dare to turn back and ran at full speed. This scorpion was too terrifying. Even bullets could not penetrate it. He did not know what kind of monster it was.
"Peter, this scorpion is too terrifying. Give up the mission. Run separately. I wish you good luck."
Listening to Ham's voice on the communicator, Peter said, "No problem, old friend. I wish you good luck too."
Peter was like a monkey, jumping quickly in the jungle. He always looked for places with obstacles, such as thorns, vines, and branches. These obstacles could hinder the scorpion.
From afar, Peter saw that an ancient tree blocked the road ahead; a towering tree had fallen on the road.
"F*ck!" Peter cursed in his heart.
He could only jump over it.
Peter's feet suddenly bent on the ground to gather strength, and his legs suddenly stepped forward.
At this moment, his eyes widened, and he looked in disbelief at a large scorpion tail attacking from between the forest trees.
It ruthlessly struck his body.
Peter grunted and got whipped by this fierce force.

He crashed into a stone in the distance, and his internal organs violently twitched. A giant scorpion came out from the other side of the ancient tree, raising its high tail.
Peter's eyes were ashen.
Then, he saw a giant pincer clamped around his neck. He felt intense suffocation and then lost consciousness.
Alex did not waste time. After devouring Peter, he followed the scent to hunt Ham.
During this time, Ham fled frantically along the way.
He bandaged his arms and took out a satellite phone as he ran.
The call was to Thomas.
After the call connected, Ham said, "Buddy, I'm afraid I can't complete your mission. This scorpion is too powerful. That scorpion is chasing me. If I can make it back alive, I'll refund the commission to you."
Ham, who had wanted to hang up, continued, "You don't have to go to the night bar. It's full of bronze-level superpowered people. They're no match for that scorpion. You'd better go to New York City and take a look. The Superpowered People's Association is there, and there are powerful superpowered people there. You should go there and take a look."
After hanging up the phone, Thomas, who was far away in St. Paul, had a gloomy expression on his face. He smashed his phone on the ground.
"F*ck!"
No matter what, he had to get this scorpion.
Thomas had combined his genes with the Octopus's genes. He was initially fine, but he had become more and more unstable in the past few days.
The scorpion might be his best medicine.
Thinking of this, he made a call. "Victor, I want to ask you for a favor. Ten million dollars."
...
In the Amazon Rainforest, Ham could no longer run. He ran more than ten miles in one go.
Even the 'Iron Man' could not take it anymore.
He filled the pistol with bullets, lit a cigarette, and took two deep puffs.
"Peter, are you okay?"
A static noise came from the communicator.
"Peter?"
Ham called twice, but no one responded.
He already understood.
Peter was probably dead.
Next was his turn.
Sure enough, Ham's eyes narrowed slightly. In his sight, a giant scorpion quickly crawled over.
His cold and fierce eyes stared at it blankly.
Was he going to die in the end?
"Even if I die, I won't be beaten by you."
Ham exhaled heavily. Looking at Alex, who was staring at him, he sucked on the cigarette in his mouth. Looking at the distant sky, he raised his pistol and aimed it at his temple.
"Bang!"
Alex swallowed his corpse and obtained 550 evolution points.
Alex now had a total of 6,210 evolution points in his body, and he was getting closer and closer to his goal of evolving for the fifth time.
Alex believed that he would be able to evolve for the fifth time soon.
He did not know what ability he would gain this time.
Alex was looking forward to it.
After this, he was ready to leave.
He had almost devoured all the prey in the Amazon, and now common prey could not provide much evolutionary energy.
Unless it was some super mutated creature... but Alex could not encounter these creatures easily.
It was too difficult.
Everything was over, and now only Titan was left.
The last time, Titan was already on the verge of collapse.
He did not know what had become of Titan now.
Alex was a little curious.

Beyond The Game (Abandoned)
Kaine sighed as his foe advanced once more, never letting up, barely giving him time to breathe. He pressed forward as well, excited and ready, welcoming the bloodshed that was to come. His short blade, meeting the bestial warrior's bone-made longsword. Their weapons clattering sound into each of their ears when they clashed. Kaine pushed, as did his foe, beginning the contest of strength. A dance which Kaine controlled the steps of. As their eyes met, both of them weary, but Kaine's expression was resolved...maddened almost. Whilst his foe's was fear-struck, the creature was terrified down to its core. As were its comrades which surrounded them, watching, waiting for an opening to have at Kaine themselves. Seeing many...but they faltered, as the dead had seen the same openings before. Their battered, broken and still freshly bleeding bodies laying sprawled about their surroundings. It is just one... One of them thought in shaken disbelief. Just...Just one man but he kills so many...smiling even! Glancing from the dead, and back at Kaine as he slew another. No...this is no man... Was its panicked conclusion. This one's a monster! As Kaine turned to face it, weapon ready and grinning widely throughout his approach.

The Oresteia (Modernized)
All three of the great Greek Tragedians have written plays about the bloody chain of murder and revenge within the royal family of Argos. Yet theirs is in fact not a story of tragedy, but rather one of redemption. As they move from darkness to light, from rage to self-governance, from primitive ritual to civilized institution, their spirit of struggle and regeneration becomes an everlasting song of celebration to be heard throughout the ages. Forming a discourse set against the emergence of Athenian democracy out of a period of chaos and destruction, the Orestian plays are compelling stories of the tensions between our obligations to our families and the laws that bind us together as a society. In the beginning, we witness how a king’s decision to sacrifice his daughter and turn the tide of war inflicts lasting damage on his family, culminating in a terrible act of retribution. In the aftermath of regicide, we behold how a son must set out to avenge his father’s death by committing a most egregious sin. In the end, the sinner is tormented by supernatural powers that can never be appeased, but ultimately finds redemption and ends the curse on his house once and for all. Woven through all of this is the story of a friendship so close that it elevates itself to brotherhood - Where the blood of the covenant is shown to be indeed thicker than the water of the womb. In this very brief twelve-chapter modern rendition of the Orestian plays, I have chosen to place my focus mainly on the lives of the characters Orestes and his best friend Pylades. The chapters, each around 2000-2500 words, are split up evenly between them in first-person narrative. I hope that you will come to enjoy reading this heartwarming story, but more importantly, that you see how the conflicts portrayed in the story, whether human or institutional, are still much very relevant to our societies today. Note on Sources: The details of this story is very loosely based on The Oresteia by Aeschylus. And I mean very loosely. Other sources that I referenced for detail and inspiration are Mythology by Edith Hamilton, Electra by Sophocles, and Iphigenia in Tauris by Euripides. You may also find that I have quoted some of these works, and others (such as Shelley's Ozymondaeus), without citations (average of 1-2 such quotes per chapter). I did this because I do not have the ability to describe certain scenes nearly as well as some of those writers. If you read a particularly beautiful piece of prose here, chances are it's probably stolen lol. Also, I wrote this during the summer between my high school senior year and my college freshmen year. It was the summer of 2020, and being quarantined apparently gets my creative side out lol.
