Chapter 139: The World Watches! Would The Nuclear Fusion Reactor Succeed?!!
Translator: EndlessFantasy Translation Editor: EndlessFantasy Translation
[Shocking! Proposed Electricity Bill is close to zero, can you believe this?]
[Oh my God! So this is how electricity is generated! ]
[Nuclear fusion, illuminating a country! ]
[Amazing Raymond, Amazing Nuclear Fusion! ]
[A combination of thousands of technologies, Thunder God’s painstaking work… ]
The media started to promote the news.
Although most of it was eaten by the program team, the media could still make some money.
You guys eat the meat, I’ll just drink some soup from the bones.
Out of the various media and small media, Jelly Media shone.
Because they brought in Caroline, they brought in traffic.
Moreover, Caroline was highly knowledgeable, and she could deal with all kinds of weird problems and netizens.
Although Caroline didn’t get much money, she had brought so many people to Ma Dou Media that the director was actively working on increasing her rewards.
Of course, if Caroline left now, the number of people in Jelly Media’s live broadcast room would definitely be reduced by more than half.
Relying on that internet celebrity scientist from before… would have never led to this!
“Dear netizens, the critical moment is coming!”
“For the past few days, we were most concerned about the success or failure of the nuclear fusion reactor!”
Carolyn held the microphone and slowly walked to the golden section of the stage.
Although Caroline had been questioning him at every step, the netizens knew that Mam Carol never meant ill.
If she had not asked any questions, others would have.
Those people would only speak nonsense.
Madam Carol’s doubts were well-founded.
Moreover, it gave the netizens some platform to start their expectations from.
If everyone had the thought that Raymond would definitely not fail, that would have been the worst.

Most importantly, Madam Carol always had a well-meaning heart.
Every sentence she said was thought-provoking.
“From the initial containment problem to the energy conversion!”
“From the host to myself taking the initiative to get up!”
“From the foundation of the directional magnetic field generator to the current reactor as a whole!”
“These few days, I have been paying attention to your speeches and even remembered the ids of a few enthusiastic netizens!”
“And now, Grozny is about to begin testing the nuclear fusion reactor for the first time!”
“However, there are still a few questions that have not been verified!”
“First: the directional magnetic field generator will cut off all objects, so how does one control the nuclear fusion reaction inside!”
“Second: the activation and control of a nuclear fusion reactor!”
“Third: How to conduct the heat energy of a nuclear fusion reactor!”
“These questions are all pertinent!”
“Although I hope that Thunder God can succeed in one go, I hope that everyone holds on to their grains of salt. Even if Thunder God fails, don’t feel too bad. After all, science advances from failures!”
Caroline’s precautionary measures did not anger these netizens.
Having spent a few days with her in this live broadcast room, they had learned to think rationally.
..
“Shepherd, do you believe that Raymond will fail?”
Shepherd shook his head and did not speak.
McLean said, “What do you mean? Do you not know, or are you saying that Raymond will not succeed!”
“What I mean is, without confidence, it’s hard to say…”
“Hai! You Chinese are like this, always leaving room for maneuvering. Why even? I’m not making any wagers with you!”
“I’m just saying it from my heart!”
“What if it’s from your mind?”

Shepherd thought carefully and said, “The problem of high temperature and pressure is solved, but the ability of the directional magnetic field generator will not allow anything to pass through. Then the temperature and pressure inside will be undetectable!”
“Such circumstances will leave it uncontrollable!”
“If the critical point is exceeded, tritium will quickly fuse inside, and the huge energy will definitely increase rapidly!”
“Although the current directional magnetic field generator looks very powerful, at a certain level, it cannot possibly contain an infinitely growing reaction!”
“There is another problem, how does one release the heat energy of nuclear fusion!”
“We can’t possibly make a hole in that magnetic field!”
“So, according to my rational analysis, the success rate of Raymond’s nuclear fusion reactor is less than 10%!”
Listening to Shepherd’s explanation, McLean did not even have to think.
But he still continued with his question.
“What if we don’t analyze it rationally?”
“Look, have any of the things that Raymond made previously failed?”
Shepherd answered directly.
“Not once! In terms of science, such a probability is practically non-existent!”
“However, Raymond broke the curse just like that and kept going!”
“I even think that he might have obtained some extraterrestrial technology…”
“Unfortunately, the things he made were all based on our civilization!”
“According to his success rate, Raymond looks like he’s going strong!”
Two answers!
Actually, this was very normal.
After all, wave-particle duality was also two answers.
Although Shepherd had yet to reach that level…
..
..
In anticipation, Raymond walked towards his control panel.
“Tuesday, prepare the laser cutter…”
“Sir, I’m Ready!”
“Riven, prepare the safeguards and the other data!”
“I’m ready, Master!”
“Okay!”
Raymond immediately turned on the directional magnetic field generator.
The power continued to climb, and the space became extremely dark once again.
The iron bar that was standing on it had also been cut.
Now, the things in that space could no longer come out.
“Tuesday, activate maximum power, and fire the laser cutter directly into it!”
“Yes, Sir!”
Just as Tuesday answered, a blue laser beam passed through a few houses and pierced into the black space.
Because there was no detector, Raymond could not know the pressure and temperature of the space inside.
As for when the tritium inside would start to react, he had the answer.
Because it was completely sealed, Raymond could calculate the energy inside without any external interferences.
After 11 minutes, Raymond suddenly gave an order.
“Tuesday, turn off the laser cutter! The energy injection has reached the quota!”
“Done!”
“Riven, close the generator window immediately and prepare to read the data!”
“Yes, Master!”
At the same time, Raymond placed his hand on the control panel of the directional magnetic field generator.
Whether or not he could succeed depended on the control panel.
He stared at all the data as it continuously flowed past his eyes.
During these dozens of seconds, Raymond didn’t even blink once.
He clearly knew that there was only one second left.
If he missed it, then he would have to wait until tomorrow!
“Now!”
Raymond decisively pressed the button on the directional magnetic field controller!

Core Defect
In the 264 years since the Great Singularity Wars, the world has been irrevocably changed. Technologies like nanobots and rogue artificial intelligences have caused the planet's wildlife to evolve in dangerous and powerful ways, pushing humanity to the verge of extinction. However, the remaining survivors are not without ways to fight back. Nanotech can enhance humans just as well as beasts, but perhaps most surprisingly, humanity has found an unexpected ally: a group of human-neutral AIs called Daemons. Val is a 22-year old woman striving to become a User: a nano-empowered human paired with a Daemon that serves as society's final and most powerful line of defense. When a critical issue in her nanosystem's core seemingly leaves her unable to serve as a User, she's given a difficult choice: give up on her dreams or accept a potentially unstable AI, Noir, as her Daemon partner. Val and Noir are stronger together than they are apart, but can they survive long enough to unlock their potential? Can they find a place among the other pairings like them, shunned by society but essential to civilization's survival? If Users are humanity's last line of defense, welcome to the sacrificial first line: the Defects. Updates are currently once a week, aiming for the weekend. Chapters usually 2k-3k in length.

Unstable and weakened, will he be more hindrance than help? Can he become the warrior he once was?A Monk and a Monkey journey across a world...... where the remnants of technology are seen as magic, while pockets of humanity strive to drag themselves out of ignorance.... where the descendants of animal-human hybrids, once created as instruments of war, now seek to dominate the world as demons.... where beings who call themselves Immortals and Gods preoccupy themselves with selfish pastimes, ignoring everything else. Among other things, a story about growth, grit, and being better than the person you were yesterday. Here's my rambling on why I'm writing Journey West 5000. Journey West 5000 is my crazy ambitious writing project to adapt a classic epic called "Journey to the West" for a global, modern audience. It's a sci-fi story disguised as fantasy, and has some road trip + monster of the week elements (as does the original Journey to the West). No system, definitely no harem, gradual power progression. Hmm, what else can I put here so potential readers know what to expect? My writing style for now is mostly "show don't tell", because I believe that readers don't need to have everything pointed out to them, and that they should be allowed to make up their own minds about characters based on the actions of those characters. I'm also trying to be less long-winded (a weakness pointed out by some friends) in order to write according to something Neil Gaiman said, which is to write as though I'm the one who has to pay for every word, not the reader. This will bring down my chapter word counts, and might drive away potential readers, but I believe there's value in learning to compress and be concise. All chapters posted here will have been edited. Constructive criticism, comments, and feedback would be very much welcome and appreciated. Please, please help point out any typos or grammatical mistakes, I'm striving to minimize those as much as possible. Above all, I hope you enjoy my story.
