Chapter 581: The Law of Thundercloud Beast

The vast majority of people felt fortunate that they had already been through the test. Whether they scored low or high, at least they would not be running into a quasi-Divine Beast. If they were placed in the cage with Evil Wind, they would no longer have to worry about just their score, but their life, too!

“Putting Evil Wind into the ring? Isn’t this against the rules?”

“How is it against the rules? Evil Wind isn’t a Divine Beast, only the highest existence among Beast Kings. It doesn’t count.”

A short girl near Xia Fei, who was listening to the conversations around her, now knew the terror of Evil Wind, and her face turned ghastly pale as she began to shudder in fear.

“What do I do? It won’t be me, right?” the little girl muttered to herself in dejection.

Xia Fei had not noticed the turmoil around him. His eyes were on that green furry animal in the distant cage, his mind rapidly working.

The highest-ranking Beast King had suddenly appeared, and then someone had disrupted the Beast Spirit Codex. No matter how hard Xia Fei tried, he could not establish a connection with Evil Wind.

The Beast Spirit Codex was mysterious and profound.

However, even the most profound technique needed ocular cognition and telepathy to work. Right now, whenever Xia Fei used his ocular cognition on Evil Wind, they would be reflected back like a mirror, and his telepathy was also being blocked by some mysterious power. The opposing party was like a knife, cutting apart the telepathic net that Xia Fei had laid down and shattering everything.

“An expert is targeting me!” Xia Fei determined this. The situation was obvious. Evil Wind’s appearance and that mysterious power interfering with him were no coincidences. He had fallen into someone’s trap!

The second-to-last batch of candidates was teleported back. As Xia Fei had already withdrawn the Beast Spirit Codex, those exotic beasts were no longer frenzied, so half of the candidates had passed, causing the rest to feel envious.

Xia Fei breathed deeply and closed his eyes. There was no doubt that he would be the one pitted against quasi-Divine Beast Evil Wind. This would be a hard battle!

The passcard on his chest flashed, and Xia Fei disappeared. A second later, he appeared in a cage.

“Haha! It’s Xia Fei! Xia Fei got pulled into Evil Wind’s cage!”

A delighted and amused voice rang out, swiftly followed by laughter from the crowd. It was human nature to hit someone while they were down, and these candidates, who were miserable and dejected from their results, naturally hoped to see someone else in their situation or even worse. Only then could they even feel the balance in their minds.

It was only natural that all of them laughed upon seeing that Xia Fei was the one fighting Evil Wind.

“Xia Fei is the original lowest scorer, and now that he’s gotten Evil Wind, he’s bound to still end up in the last place, yes?”

“What an unlucky fellow. He’s managed to pull the only exotic beast that transcends its rank. Truly, the heavens have eyes!”

“Score? He’ll be lucky if he makes it out alive. There’s no need to think about a score.”

“Makes sense. After all, that’s the quasi-Divine Beast Evil Wind. Surviving is good enough.”

Xia Fei did not even need to listen purposely to know that those behind were delighting in his predicament.

The green signal light turned on, and a countdown of three minutes began.

Xia Fei would have to subdue Evil Wind in three minutes or fail!

Xia Fei knew that this was no contest between him and Evil Wind but rather him and that expert controlling Evil Wind from the shadows!

The Beast Spirit Codex could tame Holy Beast Shatterstar. Could it not subdue a puny quasi-Divine Beast?

It would be very hard!

Furball had been very young at the time and not in prime condition. Moreover, Furball had been with Xia Fei since he was an egg, so the two were very familiar with each other.

Meanwhile, Evil Wind was in its prime, physically and mentally, and that was not even considering the mysterious expert helping it. The situations were incomparable!

The moment the first second ticked down, Xia Fei struck!

He slammed his fists into the ground!

Xia Fei was planning to use close-distance ocular cognition to seize control of Evil Wind!

In the distance, beast taming master Nie Ying was taken aback, his lips curving into a smile.

‘A smart move. Evil Wind was lying on the floor, so you used a powerful shock to bounce it in the air. Evil Wind’s green and slippery eyes met Xia Fei’s, and invisible mental energy forced its way into the beast’s mind. The progress was so smooth that Xia Fei could not help but be suspicious.

“Something’s wrong! It’s too easy to get in!” Xia Fei mentally noted in surprise.

Suddenly!

A pair of invisible giant hands materialized in Evil Wind’s mind and grabbed him! They were grabbing at the sliver of thought that Xia Fei had sent into the beast’s mind!

“You came at the perfect time! Let’s see who you really are!”

Furball, having already received Xia Fei’s order, waited on his shoulder.

“Destroy him!”

Furball suddenly went crazy!

His belly swelled, his mouth opened wide, and he let out a deep and lethal roar at Evil Wind!

An invisible soundwave instantly traveled to every person on the testing ground, and every exotic beast heard this berserk roar.

“Awoooo!”

“Shatterstar! That’s Holy Beast Shatterstar!”

A candidate with good eyes recognized Furball and shouted!

“A Holy Beast! That fellow has a Holy Beast!”

“That legendary Holy Beast Shatterstar that can destroy a world with one strike?!”

“How could it end up in Xia Fei’s hands? Has Xia Fei tamed a Holy Beast?”

The crowd was stunned!

A test with so many twists and turns already was pushed to the climax by the appearance of both a quasi-Divine Beast and a Holy Beast!

“I’m seeing a legendary Holy Beast with my two eyes! This makes the trip entirely worth it!”

“Who will win? Who’s going to come out the victor in this contest?”

“There’s no need to wonder. It will be Xia Fei with his Holy Beast Shatterstar.”

“That’s not for certain. Evil Wind has the combat power of a Divine Beast, and it doesn’t have too many brain cells.”

Besides Evil Wind, all 119 exotic beasts were prostrating!

When a Holy Beast appeared, all beasts bowed!

Let alone resistance, these Beast Kings did not even dare to open their eyes!

“Level 6 of the Beast Spirit Codex! Overwhelm it!”

Xia Fei gritted his teeth. Nie Ying’s moment of hesitation was Xia Fei’s chance!

This was Evil Wind’s nature-type ability, wind control!

Wind control ability users were few in number, but what Evil Wind released was the black wind! Wind with corrosive powers!

A black hurricane stirred and began to sweep through the testing ground destructively!

The waiting experts of Dragon Ascension Martial Hall moved out, using the Law of Space to block off the battlefield and prevent the other exotic beasts or candidates from being hurt!

Several seconds later, the blackness withdrew and the wind ceased.

The candidates looked at the sight before them in disbelief!

The alloy cage holding the exotic beast was on the verge of collapse as if it had been immersed in highly concentrated sulfuric acid!

Xia Fei was enclosed in Silver Desert, his liquid war armor, but his situation was not much better. While Evil Wind had not injured him, it had worn away at his armor! Silver Desert had really become like grains of sand, metal flecks constantly drifting off it.

Xia Fei and Holy Beast Shatterstar were contending against Beast Taming Master Nie Ying and quasi-Divine Beast Evil Wind, mental control arts contesting against the Thundercloud Beast law.

In the first round, Xia Fei had been utterly defeated!

“Wait! Xia Fei has the protection of his armor, but Holy Beast Shatterstar doesn’t! Is it okay?” someone shouted.

Everyone’s hearts tightened. ‘Oh, no!’

At this time, there was still one minute and thirty-nine seconds until the three minutes was up!
