Chapter 449: The Thirty Immemorial Mystical Armaments
“Peacock Blue? What is that? Why doesn’t it have a rank or a description?” Xia Fei asked right when the two parrots least expected it.
The two parrots were flabbergasted, with Blackie questioning, “So you did notice the words Peacock Blue?”
Xia Fei chuckled. “The two words ‘Peacock Blue’ has a separate section all to itself, and there’s no price or description stated. How could I not notice such a special and strange item?”
Blackie was even more confused. “Why didn’t you ask earlier instead of waiting until you spent 2,400,000,000 points?”
Xia Fei shrugged. “Everyone is greedy, and I’m no exception, so I first bought those two items I needed the most before asking about that strange thing. I was worried that this item might be too expensive, and that I might be tempted to give up everything to get it. If it prevented me from getting what I needed the most, how would that be good for me?
“Therefore, I intentionally only asked about it after I got the two items I needed most. As for the rest, there’s no rush, and I can take them or leave them.”
“You weren’t worried that you might miss out on some precious treasure because of this?”
“Scared? Of course. Many of the insectoids’ big experts died, but that mysterious High Priest Ryun hasn’t shown himself. My greatest need is to protect myself. This Peacock Blue doesn’t sound like a weapon, and what I need the most is a weapon. No matter how valuable it turns out to be, my life is more important.”
Whitey was depressed, not expecting Xia Fei to have such a meticulous mindset and such a formidable resolve. Rather than asking about a treasure displayed right in front of him, he first took care of his greatest needs. He was so rational that it was absurd!
Blackie was dazed for a while; after which, he firmly nodded. “I see. Peacock Blue requires ten billion points, and only someone who passes through the stone formation is qualified to exchange for it.”
Xia Fei’s eyes erupted with light! An Immortal rank weapon was only one billion points, but this Peacock Blue required ten billion points to exchange for?! It could be no ordinary item, and its rank had to be as high as the heavens!
“What is this thing? It’s actually worth ten billion points?”
The black parrot had a solemn expression that made Xia Fei perk up his ears and listen.
“Peacock Blue is truly very unusual because it’s grass!”
“Grass?” Xia Fei blinked his eyes and asked in confusion. “Ten billion points for a plant? Is this what they call daylight robbery?”
Blackie became very sullen, but the loose-lipped Whitey had already had enough, exploding in her shrill voice. “Do you have eyes?! This is no ordinary grass! It’s Peacock Blue! Do you not know what the Peacock Blue is?!
“Peacock Blue of the Cloud Sea’s Seven Plants!
“The Eight Metals of Absolution, Six Waters of Terror Genesis, Four Stones of the Southern Star, Five Flames of Lux Gloria, and Seven Plants of the Cloud Sea! Together, they are considered the Thirty Immemorial Mystical Armament! This Peacock Blue is one of the Thirty Immemorial Mystical Armament! With it, you can trade for any Law of your choosing! It’s worth more than the territory of mankind and the insectoids put together! A hick! Do you get it or not?! I’m furious! Furious!”

Xia Fei was not upset by Whitey’s disdain. He had been left stumped by the names like Five Fires of Lux Gloria and Seven Plants of the Cloud Sea, for he had truly not heard of such things.
Blackie sighed. Whitey would probably never be able to change her loose lips. She had almost exposed the secrets of the Black and White Gods to Xia Fei. It was truly absurd.
After a few dazed seconds, Xia Fei sternly asked, “The Thirty Immemorial Mystical Armament? One of the Seven Plants of the Cloud Sea? What’s the meaning of all that?”
Blackie slapped his wings with his head and chuckled. “Forget it, forget it. Since you’re Master Black’s chosen inheritor of his Law, it’s fine if I tell you.
“The Nebula Steel, Crookspan Steel, Deepchill Steel, Grandfierce Steel, Furious Sea Silver, Mountainshifting Silver, Shattercauldron Bronze, and Witherspirit Gold; these are known as the Eight Metals of Crossing.
“The Phoenix Tail Stone, Distant Void Stone, Skydestroyer Stone, and Flowing Cloud Stone; these are the Four Stones of the Southern Star.
“The Thousand Fathom Ice, Ring Ice, Green Jade Spring, Black Shell Spring, Water of Resentment, and Whitesnap Aqua are the Six Waters of Terror Genesis.
“There are also the Five Flames of Lux Gloria. These are the Rending Yang Fire, Fire of Sorrow, Fire of Linked Sound, Wolf Butcher Blaze, and Empty Valley Conflagration.
“As for the Seven Plants of the Cloud Sea, they are the Fringe Mountain Leaf, Unparting Pine, Warpsea Lotus, Scattered Star Chrysanthemum, Nine Night Plum, Whistling Moon Willow, and Peacock Blue that you see before you now.
“There are thirty items in total, and they’re called the Thirty Immemorial Mystical Armaments!”
Shock!
Incomparable shock!
Xia Fei took a long time to calm himself down. These mighty and extraordinary names could make anyone’s heart throb in fear. They had to be top-class mystical weapons of the world of Law Adepts! How could Xia Fei not be excited to come across such high-level items?
Draining his cup of water, Xia Fei sternly asked, “None of the thirty items you mentioned is a weapon, so why are they called Mystical Armaments?”
Blackie laughed. “There are many kinds of weapons. That knife in your hand is a weapon, and so is your speed ability. As long as it can kill an enemy, does it matter if you use a knife, your fists, or even your sharp gaze? They can all be called weapons. Thus, to call these items armaments aren’t improper at all.
“Each of the Thirty Immemorial Mystical Armaments have their formidable traits each. They’ve existed since the creation of the universe, and you had better not ask me why that is the case, for not even my master might be able to answer such a profound question. In any case, the universe is very large, very strange, very bizarre, and very dangerous. It’s just that your current position is too low, so you can’t see too far out. That is why you are so concerned about something like a term.”
Xia Fei nodded. He had a completely different opinion of this pitch-black parrot now. He had not expected this bird to be so clear and logical, his ordinary tone infused with a profound philosophy.

Smiling, Xia Fei asked, “Since this Peacock Blue is so powerful, the Black and White Gods could have taken it for themselves. There would be no need to leave it here.”
Blackie sighed. “Of course, Master Black would’ve preferred to use it for himself. Alas, fitting with its namesake, Peacock Blue is very proud and stubborn. The peacock signifies arrogance, and the blue represents the Blueluster Grass, an incredibly common grass in the universe. It grows in the crevices of mountains, and not even the most hostile environments can make it yield. Neither chilling cold nor arid heat has ever been able to stop its growth.
“This Peacock Blue combines the arrogance of a peacock and the unbending nature of Blueluster Grass. Even though it has a lowly existence, it is also the most stubborn and tenacious existence in the universe. Though silent and obscure, no one has ever dared to look down on it.
“Master said that Peacock Blue chooses its master and it has extremely strict demands. Even Master Black and Madam White could do nothing about it, so they decided to leave it here and see if anyone else can take it away. Alas, after so many years, the disappointing insectoids have never even been able to get a chance to try and take it away.”
As Blackie spoke, he looked at Xia Fei, his meaning clear. The Black and White Gods left Peacock Blue here because they thought that the insectoids might have some destined connection, but in the end, this human was given that chance.
Xia Fei immediately replied, “Since that’s the case, I’ve decided that I’ll try to take it with me.”
*Whoosh!*
Ten billion points were immediately subtracted from Xia Fei’s total points. Whitey wickedly said, “You’re the one who said it. Whether you succeed or fail, there’s no refund.”
Xia Fei was speechless. In the end, he still felt like this was robbery. No refunds regardless of the outcome? How could one not protest against this?
Xia Fei clenched his teeth. “Forget it. Chances like this don’t come every day. I’m willing to take this risk for Peacock Blue! After all, I’ll be able to fight against top-class experts with it.”
Blackie nodded. “Giving up on ten Immortal rank weapons for a single chance, this mentality is truly worthy of praise, but Master Black said that Peacock Blue has no rank. Even if you do get it, it may not be of much help to you. How Peacock Blue ultimately develops will depend on its master’s cultivation and care. In brief, each mystical weapon is very strange, and no one has been able to truly understand them. You’ve only just reached grade 5, the Legendary rank, as you humans call it. At this phase, Peacock Blue will not be able to display much combat power. You will still have to rely on yourself.”
Whitey flapped her wings and jeered. “Country hick, do you get it? Your rank is too low! Let’s not even talk about whether or not Peacock Blue will select you, even if it does, it won’t change your current situation! Even if you get it, it will be the same as if you receive nothing!”
Xia Fei smiled, his lips curving into an arc. “On the contrary, I believe that this is the best investment of points I could’ve made, for I bought something that money can’t buy.”
“What?” the obstinate Whitey tilted her head and asked.
“Hope.”
It was not said loudly, but Whitey felt like her ears had been jabbed with a needle.
Hope had never been something one could trade for. It was impossible to say if Xia Fei could get Peacock Blue, and even if he did, it would not be of use to him at his current stage, but who could say that Xia Fei would fail to reach the Eternal rank, the Immortal rank, or even ascend to the world of Law Adepts?
Trading ten Immortal rank weapons for an infinitesimal hope seemed like the act of a madman, but it could not be forgotten that Xia Fei had been able to get this far precisely because he was crazier than others!
…
A door of light opened in the air. Inside was darkness, leading into the unknown.
Blackie made an inviting gesture with his wings while the fuming Whitey stuck up her beak. With her stubborn personality, she wanted nothing more than to see Xia Fei fail, but Xia Fei had dashed her hopes over and over, leaving her belly full of fire which she had nowhere to vent.
Taking a deep breath, Xia Fei went inside.
The sensation of passing through this door was very strange, as if he was going from one room to the next, but the scenery he was seeing was completely different from before.
Atop a mountain of bald rocks was a dash of brilliant blue, facing the sun. It was just common Blueluster Grass, but there was no way to obscure it. No matter how high the mountain or how steep it was, what one would see at first glance would not be the steep cliffs but that dash of blue at the summit.
*Whoosh~*
Xia Fei instantly moved to the summit.
He saw that the Blueluster Grass had made a crack in the slab of stone where it grew, and it swayed back and forth in the howling gales of the summit.
“It truly is the toughest and most stubborn plant!” Xia Fei praised, his eyes bright.
Squatting, Xia Fei slowly reached his hand toward Peacock Blue.
Suddenly!
At the moment his finger touched Peacock Blue, something strange happened!

There will be polls for other purposes, and I might not always go with the poll winner if I feel one of the other options is more fun to read/write about. I will not use the settings of other RRL writers without their permission.Do not ask for that, unless the author in question gives permission. Most settings he visits will be slightly AU in some way or another, but please remind me if I drift too far from canon unintentionally or characterize a character wrongly. This work will eventually fit all tags I selected once he visits universes suited to those tags, so don't ask when or where a given tag is coming. I do not own the cover art, it belongs to Nicholas Belanger Thiel, and I will stop using it if he asks me to. Kellan doesn't look like the old man on the cover, though once he acquires a disguise-type ability he may occasionally use that appearance. The tapir, however, will be a thing, as despite looking like a failed attempt at an elephant, tapirs are cool and this dragon finds them to be kinda cute.
