Chapter 203: True Strength
A thunderous howl suddenly came from the vibrant forest, penetrating through the trees.
Xia Fei came to a halt and looked across the valley.
A large and strange creature had appeared there, which took to the skies in the distance, roaring non-stop in Xia Fei’s direction as if accepting his challenge.
This creature was roughly twenty meters long, with a body of a dragonfly and the tail of a scorpion. Its eyes were two, black orbs, and its six wings were short and red, flapping all of them rapidly as the creature came flying in the mountain winds, an oppressive aura surrounding it.
It had a strange and sharp maw as if countless, sharp daggers were protruding from it. Its tail was covered in hard chitin, which shook forcefully like a rattlesnake’s; a curved and venomous stinger, nearly a meter long, at the end of its tail was aimed right at Xia Fei.
“That’s the six-winged skylord!” Phantom exclaimed. “Careful—that creature is extremely ferocious. Avoid getting hurt from that stinger on its tail at all costs.”
Sparks were shooting out of Xia Fei’s eyes, figuratively. Not only did he not reel in his killing intent, he even went ahead and happily unleashed his intention to fight as strongly as he could.
The six-winged skylord was a kind of violent beast that would not tolerate anything challenging it, so a frail human actually being bold enough to challenge it so arrogantly was absolutely a great insult to it, and only death could ease this anger.
*Roar!*
The six-winged skylord screeched as its body shuddered several times in the air. Its wings were beating so fast as it dove down. Its strange maw churned rapidly, too, like a mixer; flesh that came into contact with this would be torn into shreds.
*Whoosh!*
Xia Fei’s two feet tapped the ground as he shot up to the six-winged skylord.
“Spread!” Xia Fei bellowed, as the eighteen silver disk blades promptly separated, surrounding him in every direction, creating a matrix of metal.
*Puff!*
Before the six-winged skylord descended, it released two bullets of air from its mouth. This was its other weapon aside from the venom: high-pressure shots of condensed air.
Unlike other living creatures, six-winged skylords had three lungs, so they could exhale air from their maws after condensing them internally, and these shots of air would immediately explode upon contact with anything.
The speed of these air bullets was astoundingly fast, but Xia Fei was even more dexterous. He was like a crafty loach, able to shift between footworks swiftly. He deviated from the path he originally wanted to take as he avoided these two air bullets.
*Boom boom!*
Two huge explosions echoed behind Xia Fei as rock debris, sand particles, and plant remains flew everywhere.
There was a meter deep crater right where the explosion happened.
Fragments of rocks rained on Xia Fei. Because he was advancing at such high speeds, these fragments caused waves of numbness to explode all over his body when he encountered them. Fortunately, he had his combat suit to protect him, or else these impedances would surely pose danger to him because of his high speeds.
As its two air bullets missed, the six-winged skylord was greatly angered. Like a machine gun, it proceeded to shoot a series of compressed air from its mouth for Xia Fei to deal with.
The ground shook violently at this assault. It was as if they were caught in a space battle, the explosions ringing one after another.

Xia Fei depended on his dexterity to calmly dodge and weave amid the attacks, but the debris flying about inevitably made contact with him, thus becoming a hindrance over his plan to accelerate any further.
“Demon Axe!” Xia Fei shouted, his two eyes turning red.
The eighteen silvery blades around him suddenly sped up and became similar to streaks of lightning, flying right in the air toward their target.
Demon Axe was an advanced ultimate move of Xia Fei’s psychokinesis, able to instantly cause his weapon to exert ten times the power as usual, devastating the enemy in one move.
This technique was indubitably brutal, but it was also a harsh test of Xia Fei’s physical endurance. This was not something he would use unless backed into a corner.
Xia Fei had made the conscious decision to use his fastest speed in tandem with his most powerful offense to take down this six-winged skylord in one move, not at all giving a thought to the burden his body would be under upon doing so.
*Whizz—*
Celestial Moon cut through the air, whistling as it shot forth with explosive force.
The six-winged skylord flapping its wings in the air could not have imagined that the speed of the unassuming little things around Xia Fei could instantly reach such a shocking degree of speed, so it did not defend itself properly from them.
Though it tried its best to evade to the side by adjusting its body, Celestial Moon was not at all giving it the chance to do so.
With Demon Axe unleashed, the speed of Celestial Moon surpassed the speed of light, and was there anyone or anything that could beat that?
Moreover, the eighteen disk blades were strange and erratically positioned, not at all slashing in straight lines but rather at unpredictable curves.
*Whoosh!*
Celestial Moon elegantly drew cuts in the air, targeting the six-winged skylord’s soft belly, which was where its defense was the weakest.
Not only was their speed astounding, these disk blades were also spinning fast like a chainsaw.
Although the six-winged skylord had its fine scales as defence, it was still not enough to withstand that savage attack from Celestial Moon. All eighteen silver disk blades went plunging into the six-winged skylord’s belly without fail.
*Shriek!*
The six-winged skylord, who was experiencing unbearable pain, let out a mournful wail as fresh blood gushed out like rain from its belly. The ground was drenched in its fresh blood, made all the more eye-catching by the colorful surroundings.
“Disperse!”
Xia Fei yelled, and the eighteen disk blades originally burrowed into the six-winged skylord’s belly started spinning again, this time cutting a straight line like pairs of scissors before splitting apart.
The six-winged skylord did not expect that it would be reduced into such a spent state by an insignificant, little human. The six-winged skylord’s instincts were telling it to flee as fast as it could, for a chance to recuperate from its wounds, accepting that it would not be too late to fight another day.
Its six, short wings began flapping rapidly, lifting its body higher into the sky; in a bid to avoid Xia Fei’s attacks, it was climbing to the peak height that it could reach.
Since the fight had gotten to this point, there was no way Xia Fei would let the creature off. Though Demon Axe was powerful, it was still limited by distance. Besides, Xia Fei had already used it once, so right now, an unimaginable pain was wreaking havoc inside his body.

The corners of his mouth curled. ‘Thinking of escaping? Dream on!’
He subconsciously manipulated the eighteen blades in the air to form a makeshift flight of stairs, swaying up at an altitude of one thousand meters.
With his two legs pushing against the ground, Xia Fei leaped up and lightly tapped the nearest disk blade with his toes to propel himself several dozens meters high once more.
In the blink of an eye, Xia Fei managed to get himself up to an altitude of one thousand meters in this way. Logically speaking, if a psychokinetic ability user cultivated enough, they would be able to fly. Alas, Xia Fei had not spent much time training his control with psychokinesis, so he still lacked the energy to support his weight. This was why he had thought up of this clever method, using Celestial Moon to create a bridge to swiftly close in on his target.
Xia Fei got closer and closer to the six-winged skylord, barely even a hundred apart from it.
Such a distance was already more than enough for him to unleash the Beast Spirit Codex.
Indeed, aside from his speed and psychokinetic abilities, Xia Fei still had a third skill set: the Beast Spirit Codex.
“Soul Upheaval!” Xia Fei roared, his two eyes shining brilliantly.
What he had just demonstrated was indeed the third stage of the Beast Spirit Codex, a high grade ocular recognition in conjunction with telepathy.
Assaulted by the bright light, the six-winged skylord’s thoughts were completely thrown into chaos.
Its brain was empty at that moment, completely forgetting even the most basic flight response.
Xia Fei’s thoughts very quickly penetrated its mind, tearing up a storm within the mindscape, obliterating all of the beast’s brain cells in one fell swoop.
*Whoosh!*
The six-winged skylord was a mere husk now that it lacked the ability to think, its huge body plummeting at top speed as its eyes, which were now devoid of the intensity from before, had turned empty and blank.
Xia Fei used the techniques from the third stage of the Beast Spirit Codex to deal a fatal blow onto the six-winged skylord, using the same method as before to get him back down quickly.
From discovering the target and engaging it in combat to ultimately killing it, only a little over a minute had passed.
His speed ability gave him the capability to search, his psychokinesis allowed him to attack, and the Beast Spirit Codex granted him the power to deal a killing bow. Xia Fei used the ultimate moves that he had grasped from all those three and managed to kill the six-winged skylord as quickly as he could. He had utilized two hundred percent of his strength, as well as all the ultimate moves within his arsenal sans reservations, to succeed in this endeavor.
Xia Fei had demonstrated his strongest combat capabilities in the span of two minutes or so.
*Crash!*
The six-winged skylord’s carcass slightly bounced off the ground after it crashed down—a pained howl escaping its throat before ultimately dying.
Xia Fei stood his ground and took a few deep breaths. Though he had unleashed his full capabilities on killing this creature of evil, due to how overly aggressive his attacks had been, Xia Fei’s body suffered a certain degree of damage. Adding the fact that the air on this planet was unsuitable for human habitation, his internal organs were all burning in pain.
Circulating his Breath Control technique and reeling in his energy, Xia Fei’s surging blood gradually abated. When he next opened his eyes, that palpable killing intent around him was all but gone, his eyes now showing transparent clarity.
Xia Fei tapped his spatial ring and took out a poison probe test to check the blood residue on Celestial Moon. The six-winged skylord was very toxic, and quite a lot of its blood tracked along Celestial Moon, so he needed to be careful handling it.
The test noted that the blood residue did not contain any venom, so Xia Fei ignored the fact that the blood had yet to dry and returned it to his right arm. He made his way toward the carcass while Celestial Moon kept dripping blood, leaving a long trail of it behind him.
He pulled out the nameless dagger from his waist and spread a waterproof cloth on the ground; Xia Fei then took out some of the extractors and transparent vessels he normally used for refining medicine, placing them on the ground before he started to carefully handle the carcass. Detaching the venomous stinger from its tail, he then retrieved the venom he needed from the six-winged skylord.
Sure enough, Xia Fei did not even let the carcass go to waste. Six-winged skylords were rare in this day and age, so even this carcass could be sold for quite a bit of profit, killing two birds with one stone.
….
None of what had just transpired escaped the observation of that Ares-class interceptor thousands of meters above the stratosphere. Far away on Hek Star, Thuram also witnessed Xia Fei’s fullest potential.
He softly chuckled as he muttered to himself, “So this is Xia Fei going all out. Not bad. Not bad at all.”
Though he sounded placid, his appreciation for talent was unmistakable. Xia Fei had already demonstrated his superb speed and psychokinetic abilities back at Sunset Villa, but because the Jian family did not wish to create too much noise, they hid the footage of Xia Fei’s rescue of Avril, not telling any outsider of what had transpired then.
Thus, this was actually the first time Thuram had seen Xia Fei use two completely different special abilities at once, and there was no doubt about the latter being a dual-ability warrior.
Unfortunately, Xia Fei’s final act of obliterating the mind of the six-winged skylord happened over a hundred meters away, so Thuram did not recognize this strange technique for what it was. Hence, there were still plenty of doubts left in his mind despite the high praise.
Actually, it was already possible to manipulate a beast into signing a life contract upon grasping the Beast Spirit Codex to the third stage, but at the end of the day, the six-winged skylord was a famed savage beast in the universe, so any attempt to tame one would need a lot of time and effort.
Given his time constraints, Xia Fei directly used the most insane method to kill this beast, instead. If Thuram learned that Xia Fei actually had the ability to tame it, there was no doubt that he would become even more shocked.
Staring at the bearded captain and his deputy fiercely, Thuram growled, “Don’t reveal a word about this incident to anyone; immediately dispose of the footage for me.”
The captain and his deputy nodded vigorously. Thuram was famed for his rudeness, and even the president had to show some face to him.
Turning off the screen, Thuram poured himself a glass of white wine and sat down on his sofa to enjoy the drink leisurely. The corners of his mouth could not help but sigh as he curled it into a smile.

Ebony Chitin - Eclipse
Richard Adams is something of a talented alchemist. One of the few magical professions that have anything to do with some kind of science. Everything was going swimmingly, until the 'cold night' incident happened. With it being determined as his fault, that such a thing happened. He was promptly exiled until he could return to Eclipse with a new 'discovery' for his field. What he didn't expect; was that he'd run into a strange humanoid monster that could seemingly heal any life threatening wound in a matter of seconds. Certainly this would be what he needs to become a master alchemist. The first step on a multi series journey. Please excuse the earliest chapters and their poor grammer. Ebony Chitin follows Richard Adams, and Mimi on their Journey to understand each other and the world around them. Due the the exploratory nature of such a claim, it will cover many different topics. This was my first attempt at actually writing a story, and because of that I will not edit it. I'd suggest reading the second part as it comes out as most of the things within this book will be recapped. Though if it becomes popular I hope it might inspire some of you readers to write your own stories. Cover Art by Rose Dragon
