Chapter 140: Heritage Planet?
Translator: Exodus Tales Editor: Exodus Tales
“Seventh brain region 100% opened, first activation requirement fulfilled.
“Four-star lineage, second activation requirement fulfilled.
“Perception, intelligence, perseverance, memory, and charm; sufficient overall coefficient, third activation requirement fulfilled.
“Test for the three main requirements complete; Heritage Planet activated. Estimated time until full activation: Two minutes fourteen seconds.”
A mysterious voice exploded in Xia Fei’s mind, causing him to jump out of bed with Chasing Light unsheathed, readily adopting a combat stance.
“Who’s there?!” Xia Fei yelled in a deep voice.
Looking around, there was no one else in the jail other than Phantom and him, yet the voice in his head remained clear.
“Two minutes until activation of Heritage Planet; please prepare yourself.”
Xia Fei locked his brows tightly as he tried to search for the consciousness inside his mind.
“The golden bead, it activated. It even established a tight connection with your seventh brain region.
At the exact moment Xia Fei detected the voice, Phantom reappeared. His consciousness was tied with Xia Fei’s, so Phantom heard that voice as well.
“Let me try.”
Phantom entered Xia Fei’s mind before he even finished his sentence. Xia Fei’s body was like his host; he could freely enter and exit his body even without the former’s consent.
*Whoosh!*
A few seconds later, Phantom reappeared from Xia Fei’s mind with a bit of panic on his face.
“It’s consciousness is completely tethered with your seventh brain region. I can’t sever the connection between the two,” Phantom quickly informed.
“What should we do?” Xia Fei asked as he slowly lowered Chasing Light.
“Wait,” Phantom said in a deep voice.
“One hundred seconds until Heritage Planet activation.
“Ninety-nine.
“Ninety-eight.
“Ninety-seven.
Xia Fei nodded. At this moment, there was nothing else he could do other than wait. The golden bead from the ancient civilization had complete control over Xia Fei. This was the first time in his life he had felt that he was in danger, and this danger did not come from physically being in danger but because everything happening was out of his control.
It was like facing someone who was much stronger than he was. Xia Fei could not do anything to retaliate as he did not even know where the enemy was.
Xia Fei was touched by Phantom’s worried expression in such a dire time, lighting a cigarette before taking a drag. “We’ll just have to see what the golden bead has in store for us.”
Phantom nodded as he stood beside Xia Fei, completely silent with a solemn expression.
“Fifty seconds until activation.
“Ten seconds.
“Three.
“Two.
“One…
“Heritage Planet activated.”
A bright ray of white light appeared above Xia Fei, enveloping him.

The light became brighter and brighter, making it impossible for them to open their eyes, and when the light reached its peak, there was an explosion.
Countless white dots filled the surroundings like stars, falling down from above like a blizzard.
The entire secret room quickly became filled with this snow, reducing visibility to less than half a meter.
Moments later, the dazzling lights within the room disappeared. The secret room also became empty, and Xia Fei, who was previously trapped in the cell, disappeared alongside everything…
At the same time, a radio wave quickly spread from the secret room into the vast space. It soon transmitted to a really distant place, disappearing in the darkness.
The radio wave did not just spread quickly but also became filled to bursting with energy. This weird wave of energy never seemed to dissipate, reaching the end of space to a place of nothingness.
Any attempts to capture this radio wave were futile as its existence had already surpassed human comprehension. Not a single radar or communicator could detect its existence.
The weird waveform that surpassed all frequencies seemed to only be decipherable with an instrument of a unique configuration. Whether such an instrument existed or not in the universe was also a question in and of itself.
Life was just like a laser shot into space; once it was shot, it would never turn back.
Some lives were incredibly fragile; they might dissipate immediately after they were released into the vast space because they bumped into asteroids, which covered space or, perhaps, got absorbed by blackholes, which existed everywhere, never managing to escape.
Some lives were incredibly strong; they could destroy anyone who tried to stop them and continue pushing forward. They might be able to reach places deemed unreachable, but one day, they would run out of steam as their energy dissipated.
However, this light belonging to Xia Fei was incredibly extraordinary. It started off as a weak light but managed to hang on as he navigated through difficult terrains, obstacle after obstacle, and when Xia Fei’s beam passed through a known point, this weak life suddenly gained strength, possessing incredible energy that was uniquely his. The previously weak beam of light slowly shone brighter as it tore any obstacle in front of him into shreds.
Just when everyone thought the light would become stronger and stronger, travel farther and farther, before finally leaving his name behind in an unknown corner of the universe, this light belonging to Xia Fei suddenly disappeared as it continued to grow stronger. Even if the whole universe was turned inside out, no evidence of his existence could be found.
…
On the Catalyst-class destroyer belonging to the Endaro Star Region’s Heaven Execution Training Camp, ancient ruins area, Planet YZZ 7526.

The moment Xia Fei disappeared, all the instruments on the ship were thrown into a mess. Countless indicator lights flashed out of control and various data became jumbled.
“What’s wrong?” Bosingwa knitted his eyebrows as he walked into the command deck, asking the two pilots.
“We’re not sure yet! All the instruments malfunctioned as though a huge wave of energy disrupted them!” frantically reported a curly-haired man. His fingers were dancing across the command deck’s panel as he tried to suppress the signals from the instruments, but no matter how hard he tried, the instruments refused to accept any of his commands as if they had, altogether, stopped working.
Thankfully, this did not last long; the ship returned to normal after a minute.
The pilot hastily checked the status of the ship. He was surprised to find all the instruments were now working as per normal, like nothing had happened.
“What’s going on?” Ye Xiaohan and two other instructors rushed to the command deck, looking confused.
“We’re checking it out right now,” replied Bosingwa in a deep voice. “Could you determine where the energy came from?”
The pilot operated one of the instruments for some time before reporting, “Only its approximate location; it’s likely from City 02.”
“Xia Fei.” Ye Xiaohan jolted slightly. The status of every cadet was under surveillance by the control center, and only Xia Fei went to City 02 out of the forty-six cadets, and Ye Xiaohan was incredibly sure about that.
“What happened to Xia Fei?” Bosingwa asked curiously. Although each instructor had the right to check the location and status of each cadet, the instructors would never actively track them unless they sent out a distress signal or the communicator sent a warning when it detected danger, for this was a test of their survival ability. Secretly tracking Xia Fei’s whereabouts like what Ye Xiaohan had done was actually against the rules of the training camp.
Ye Xiaohan’s face grew red. “Xia Fei is in City 02; perhaps something happened to him?”
Bosingwa furrowed his eyebrows. “How do you know he’s in City 02.”
“I…” Ye Xiaohan was lost for words before slowly muttering, “I checked his whereabouts yesterday.”
Bosingwa did not pursue this matter of Ye Xiaohan breaking the rules. This was not the time for accountability; right now, his priority was to figure out what had happened before worrying about other things.
“To the control room.”
Bosingwa took large strides toward the ship’s control room. The command center was for the operations of the ship, where the statuses of cadets were gathered and monitored by the control room.
Although the pilots of the warship were still part of Heaven Execution Training Camp, they were different from the instructors of the camp. They lacked the authority to have access to the cadets’ information, especially when the cadets were the elites of the internal division, which explained why the cadets’ information system was separate from the command system for the ship.
Bosingwa was the first to enter the control room. He looked quite worried as he led this exploration, meaning that he was the main person responsible for anything that happened during this operation.
Another thing was that he had a good personal relationship with Xia Fei. As the latter had not signed a contract with the Union, he was viewed as an extreme maverick, treated as an outcast by the cadets and instructors alike. Why did Bosingwa not do the same?
Once a member of the Glorious Thirteen, he had transferred to be a deputy supervisor for the internal division due to the stress from losing two of his teammates. But there were often plenty of people talking behind his back about this matter, and though he never said it out loud, he had always felt a kindred spirit in Xia Fei because both men had been unable to integrate with the mainstream, with the latter always being the loner that he was.
Turning on the cadet signal collector, the four instructors glued their eyes onto the projected screen
The screen displayed the entire surface of Planet YZZ-7526, with each light representing a cadet participating in the exploration.
As the screen turned on, Bosingwa gasped while Ye Xiaohan had to cover her mouth with her hands tightly to stop herself from making a sound.
There were forty-six cadets from the training camp; forty-five of them were alive, and Xia Fei was the only one whose communicator they had lost contact with.
“Lost contact,” muttered Bosingwa.
The communicators provided by the Union were the best of the best, possessing the most incredible communication capabilities. The signals would not be blocked even if they traveled to the core of the planet.
Bosingwa shook his head before commanding in a deep voice, “Immediately start piloting the ship toward the ruins in City 02. Connect the communications system to the training camp headquarters.”
The Catalyst-class destroyer slowly lifted off the ground as it flew toward the ruins of City 02. Bosingwa asked the other three instructors to exit the command room, leaving him to communicate with Battalion Commander Ye Jingshan alone.
“A few minutes ago, we were subjected to an unknown wave of energy, which caused everything on the ship to malfunction. Plus, a cadet has gone missing.” Bosingwa immediately reported the situation to Ye Jingshan.
Ye Jingshan had a bad feeling in his stomach. “Who’s gone missing?”
“Xia Fei.”
Ye Jingshan slapped the table as he stood up. “Why is it him again?!”
