Spending My Retirement In A Game Chapter 308

In order to change the topic after noticing how uncomfortable Xenia got after being asked what a Loli is, which was something that she should have expected considering that she was the one that mentioned it, Eisen moved on. Well, a few weeks ago, he would have also liked to ask what it was, but at this point he already asked his grandchildren about it. And ever since then, he really understood that the image he was giving off by having two young girls with him at all times, not excluding Bree or Sky, the latter being the male equivalent of a 'Loli', a 'Shota'. And that really just strengthened the fact that he really wanted Caria and Melissa to keep evolving further so that they wouldn't look like really, really young girls anymore.
"Let's talk about that later, Sigurd. And I don't know about the other two, but as I just said, please call me 'Eisen' instead of 'Master'. Maybe the others want to be called 'Mistress' or 'Master', but I don't really. Either way, could you continue explaining your abilities, starting with how you got all of that knowledge?" Eisen inquired, before Sigurd turned back toward him and nodded its head.
"Of course. As mentioned, my knowledge comes from within the actual Dungeon Core. As all Cores, including but not limited to Dungeon, Guild or Town cores, are at the very least in part your creation, you added specific knowledge to all such cores that can be taken in by us Core Guardians, which were also your creation." Sigurd explained, and Eisen looked at the Dungeon Core Guardian rather surprised, as he knew that his in-game character was supposed to have some kind of connection to the one that created the Dungeon cores, but not that he literally helped create any type of core.
"Are you sure it was me that helped make them? It seems more Magical in nature, so it would make more sense if Xenia helped out in that area." Eisen added, but Sigurd shook its head.
"The existence of Mistress Xenia is not within my basic knowledge. I do know about her due to the fact that she was made an Administrator, but the only existences I know of which every Core Guardian knows of are those who created the Cores. That would be you in any case, and in my case specifically the Creator of all Dungeons, Matthew Anticra."
"Matthew Anticra, huh…" Eisen muttered to himself as he remembered the ghostly figure that he encountered when he found the dungeon core as well as the blueprints to create Core Guardians.
"Indeed. Because Dungeon Cores cannot be artificially created by regular people, every Core Guardian is bound to know about you, at least the basic things there actually are to know, but Town and Guild Cores can be reproduced. The whole method of creating them still includes the information that Core Guardians need to know to properly work, but they will not include the knowledge about you." Sigurd explained, before Eisen nodded his head with a smile, thinking that he should probably ask Sigurd about himself later, and then the old man wanted to move the conversation onto another topic.

"Alright, that's quite interesting to know. But I more want to really ask you if you can really fulfill the tasks that I have been thinking about up until now. The probably most important being the automatic expansion of the Dungeon on your own judgement," Eisen explained, and Sigurd, actually rather surprised, nodded its head.
"I am capable of doing so, yes. I just ask of you that you tell me what exactly you want me to do, and I will fulfill that task when I have the chance to." Sigurd answered, but Eisen swiftly shook his head.
"That's not exactly what I mean. What I'm asking you is not to work on tasks over time, but that we'll give you a rough theme that we would like, and you just let your creativity flow. Maybe we'll come in every once in a while and figure out if we want anything in specific to be added or changed, but for the most part, it would be quite a good idea if it was possible for you to make most decisions on your own." The old man explained, and slowly, Sigurd nodded its head.
"That… Seems like something I may be able to do, yes." Sigurd answered, seemingly rather nervous about such a task, but Eisen just smiled at the Core Guardian. "Well, that's good to know. So, we actually worked on rough ideas for the first three floors already, as we mentioned, but just those rough ideas. Like what each 'Part' of the dungeon is supposed to look like. So the first task you would have is to support us when we're working on everything inside of this entrance area. After that, when it comes to the 'Ruin' area, we would like you to create a good maze, and maybe see if it's possible to change things here and there every once in a while after we make the dungeon open for the public." Eisen explained with a smile, and Sigurd swiftly nodded its heaad.
"I can surely manage the latter of those tasks. Creating a maze is within my ability. But for the former, I will still require further assistance in a few areas. I have basic knowledge about construction of different rooms, but I am not quite sure about whether or not I can create a realistic forest as you may imagine this. I may require the assistance of Master Jyuuk for such a task, although he does not seem to be here at the moment." Sigurd answered, before Eisen nodded his head with a smile.
"Of course, don't worry about that. When Jyuuk is awake again, he's surely going to be more than happy to help you out with that in order to create a nice environment. And you will have our assistance with anything that needs to be done as well, of course." The old man said with a smile, and Sigurd replied with a light bow forward.
"Thank you. For now, I have a suggestion, however. It would surely be beneficial to create humanoid forces that I can designate as a specific workforce. And as I can freely control the places where monsters are spawned, and their natural spawn rate, I can ensure that the humanoid monsters will not be naturally spawned." Sigurd explained, seemingly getting quite excited to get right into the dungeon-building, before Eisen looked over toward Evalia and Xenia.

"That's a good idea, right? If we have an actual 'Workforce', it should be possible to save quite a lot of DP." Eisen said, and Xenia slowly smiled.
"Definitely! Oh, and if we turn this first space into something like its own little village with shops that everyone can buy or sell different things that they need at, how about we turn those humanoid monsters into the 'Villagers'?" Xenia suggested, as she seemingly already thought about a few different possibilities of how to play around with the Dungeon, and before anyone else could even reply, Sigurd already smiled brightly in response.
"That is a great idea, Mistress! If you allow me to buy the option, then we can start to think about what monster would be a good choice to use for which area!" The Core Guardian suggested, and after Evalia also gave her 'Okay', Sigurd did just that and soon expanded the menu by a few options, expanding the list by three basic monsters. Goblins, Kobolds, and Lizardmen.
And the one that could give the most information on these differnet monsters at the moment was Stahl, who had been learning more about these types of monsters as part of Jyuuk's lessons. "Alright, so in my opinion, it would really be a good choice to buy all three of those monsters. Goblins, although they aren't usually very strong, are quite naturally agile and relatively dexterous, so I think the best place to use them would be as the face of everything. They can get pretty smart as well, and if we give them something in return, as they are pretty greedy, they will 100% do their work diligently. They would be able to sort documents if we have them, take care of sales, and even document transactions themselves if we can teach them how to write." Stahl explained, and before the others even had a chance to give their opinion, Sigurd had already scoffed in response.
"Really? You want Goblins to become the front of the whole operation? Out of the three monsters, they're the ugliest ones and would just scare everyoen away. Personally, I would choose Lizardmen for that, just because of their glorious, healthy scales and beauty!" Sigurd exclaimed, and in response, Stahl just smiled wrily.
"I'm not going to deny that, but for P- Erm, Artificials… Wait, Grampa, can we tell Sigurd about that? Even if we don't, wouldn't some people that come in here talk about that stuff if they're just amongst themselves?" Stahl asked, and immediately, the old man turned his head over toward Evalia and Xenia, who also seemed to be quite unsure, although Eisen scratched the back of his neck.
"Well, it's fine for Caria, Melissa and Sal, so it's probably fine for Sigurd… Erm, Sigurd, one thing that you might need to know is the existence about artificials, and they have a rather different knowledge to-"
"Oh, Ma- Eisen, I know about Players! They are some of the most important knowledge that has been placed into my mind." Sigurd replied with a smile, its face already quite different compared to what it was when it was talking to Stahl just now.
But never mind that, Eisen was thinking about something else for now. "Wait, what? You know about players?" The old man asked with a deep frown, and Sigurd nodded its head.
"Indeed I do. I also know that such knowledge can only be spread to other players or those that are part of their soul such as tamed beasts. And as I am capable of differentiating between such things within a mere thought, that is not an issue." It answered with a bright smile, and Eisen slowly nodded his head.
"I see… Well, that's good for sure. Let's just continue to let Stahl explain his opinion on everything, alright?" Eisen suggested, and while Sigurd was trying not to let its expression drop at the mention of Stahl's name, the Core Guardian swiftly nodded without another word.
"Alright… Well, Sigurd, you definitely have a point. If Goblins didn't have those basic qualities that make them a good fit ability-wise, I wouldn't have suggested them as the front-of-the house either. But when it cames to players, at the very least they will probably not mind seeing especially very outwardly monstrous creatures act civilized. That sounds bad, but it's really the case. To them, this world is just a game, so they want to see new things. And when it's something that's even new and extraordinary to the people of this world, then that's going to be even better." Stahl explained, and even Sigurd didn't seem like it could complain about anything anymore, and seeing that the Core Guardian seemed to want to let Stahl finish now, the young man quickly continued.
"And while Lizardmen might really be a monster-race that's easier to look at compared to Goblins, due to their naturally high strength and low agility, they are more fit to do manual labor like carry products around, or general security for the starting area here. If we end up getting this dungeon to a high rank, they will surely end up quite strong combatists as well and would be the perfect choice to push troublemakers out of the area. We could even offer a 'Rent-A-Bodyguard' service for players on the lower end of the suggested level range, and then have that 'Bodyguard' be one of those lizardmen as well." Stahl suggested with a bright grin, although Eisen looked at him with a light frown mixed with some disbelief, and the young man simply sighed.
"Fine, it was Komer's idea… Anyway, in my opinion, Kobolds are the ones that are the best all-rounder race, because they are pretty adaptive in their general nature and have a pretty flat stat exposition. If we have items made here as well, they would probably be the best choice of monsters for crafters, and they definitely are the best choice for the more detailed fine-work when it comes to construction, while the Lizardmen should probably do the rough brunt of everything."

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
