Chapter 21: Incredible Stats of Over 200,000
Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
Before entering this Demonized Land, he died in the hands of the members of the Roaming Wolf Guild.
After that, as he had no revival attempts left, he respawned in this damned place.
It no longer mattered how he got here, what mattered was how to get out.
One could tell from the name that this Demonized Land was not a good place to stay in.
He killed many Demonized Vengeful Spirits.
As a result, he managed to lure out the Demonized Vengeful Spirit General.
What if he killed many Demonized Vengeful Spirit Generals?
Would it attract an even stronger Boss?
Mo Fan silently calculated.
After entering this Demonized Land, at least 10,000 Demonized Vengeful Spirits had already died in his hands.
In other words, Mo Fan calculated that the death of 10,000 Demonized Vengeful Spirits would lure out the Demonized Vengeful Spirit General.
If he killed enough Demonized Vengeful Spirit Generals, there was a high chance that he would be able to lure out a stronger Boss.
The higher the level of the Boss, the higher its intelligence.
The higher his chances of successfully asking it for directions.
Mo Fan did as he thought and prepared to continue his farming.
He immediately switched his weapon from the Hard Staff to the Demonized Coiling Dragon Spear. The long staff that he unequipped was directly auctioned by him in the trading section of the official website.
After replacing the long staff in his hand with a spear, the added weight felt a little uncomfortable to Mo Fan.
But Mo Fan still became used to it after a few consecutive swings.
The skins for Kuang Dao and Demonized Vengeful Spirit were now available for purchase in the Reputation Shop.
[Demonized Vengeful Spirit Skin: 2000 Player Reputation Points]
[Kuang Dao Skin: 10,000 Player Reputation Points]
If the remaining Reputation Points and what he obtained from the Demonized Land were added to the tally, the total amount he had was just over 10,000 points.
Mo Fan was very curious about what Kuang Dao’s skin would bring to the table for him.
Therefore, he decided not to buy the Demonized Vengeful Spirit for now.
He could only buy Kuang Dao’s skin first.
Thus, he bought it!
-10,000 Player Reputation Points
[System Notification: Congratulations on obtaining ‘Kuang Dao Skin’!]
[Kuang Dao Skin: After using it, you can disguise yourself as the Silver Rank Boss, Kuang Dao.]
[Attack +200%]
[Health +200%]
[Additional passive skill obtained after using this skin: ‘Demonized Curse’]
[Time Limit: 1 Day]
[Skin Companion: Descendant of the War God]
[Kuang Dao (Collected) / Long Jian (Not Collected)]
[Companion Attribute (Not Activated)]
[Strength +200,000]
[Constitution +200,000]
[Dexterity +200,000]
Before Mo Fan could appreciate these abnormally high stats, another system notification popped up.
[System Notification: You have been forced to accept the hidden mission “Divine Might Kuang Dao’s Vengeance”]
[Hidden Mission: Divine Might Kuang Dao’s Vengeance (1)]
[Find War God Long Jian and inform him of Kuang Dao’s current situation to obtain a high reward.]

[Mission Reward: ???]
After seeing the skin and the mandatory mission, Mo Fan was dumbfounded.
First was Kuang Dao’s abnormal skin.
An increase of 200% in Attack and HP was simply insane.
It was no wonder Kuang Dao’s HP and Attack were so high.
Also, the stat bonus of 200,000 for all three attributes immediately blinded Mo Fan.
It was even more absurd among all absurdities!
Kuang Dao was related to this War God Long Jian? Could this Kuang Dao be his illegitimate son?
Otherwise, why was the skin companion for him so ridiculously broken?
Mo Fan impatiently equipped Kuang Dao’s skin.
Then, he checked the passive skill.
[Demonized Curse: Your body is contaminated by demonic energy. All your skills are sealed. This passive skill is being forcibly activated and cannot be externally affected.]
After reading the passive skill’s effect, Mo Fan finally understood why Kuang Dao didn’t use any skills in their fight earlier.
It was not because he did not have any skills, but because he could not use any skills due to the curse.
“Kuang Dao, I’ve wronged you!”
“I didn’t expect you to be so helpless!”
Mo Fan currently did not have a single skill in his arsenal, so he was completely unaffected by this passive.
The stats bonuses of this Kuang Dao’s skin were all attributes that he liked.
Right now, the skin was simply tailor-made for him.
But what made Mo Fan frown was that the skin he bought was time-limited to one day instead of being permanent.
In other words, he spent 10,000 Reputation Points for a skin that could only be used for one day.
This proved that he was out of his luck today.
If he still needed Kuang Dao’s skin, he could only buy it again.
After understanding the various effects of the skin, Mo Fan took a closer look at the hidden mission that was forcibly bestowed upon him.
The mission had the word “Divine Might” at the front.
But Mo Fan didn’t know what special meaning it had.
Could it be that it had something to do with the War God Long Jian—and that was why it had the words “Divine Might”?
As for the mission completion requirements…
Where was he supposed to look for this War God Long Jian?
Was he an Ultimate Boss?
If they met, what would happen if he told him about Kuang Dao?
Should he equip Kuang Dao’s skin and pretend that he lost his memories?
Should he kill Long Jian after receiving his War God Inheritance?
Would he be able to obtain Long Jian’s skin that way?
In that case, wouldn’t the [Descendant of the War God] bonus activate?
Gaining 200,000 points in all three attributes…
“Damn, just thinking about it is already so exciting!” Mo Fan gulped as he wiped his mouth clean with his arm.
“Calm down! Calm down! I have to calm down!”
“What’s going on?”
“Why is my body shaking uncontrollably at the thought of this?”
Thinking about how he had lost his composure earlier, Mo Fan couldn’t help but feel disgusted.

“Now that I am already a millionaire, I have to be an exemplary and respectable person!”
Mo Fan cleared his throat. He stopped smiling and straightened his face.
Then, he took a deep breath and calmed himself down.
“That’s right!”
“Isn’t it just a War God?”
“Isn’t it just 200,000 stats?”
“Look at how excited you are!”
Mo Fan whispered into the air as if he was trying to convince himself.
But after only two seconds, he couldn’t help but snicker once again.
“Hahaha!”
“I’m quite excited!”
“Just thinking about it makes me so excited!”
“Why should I pretend to be a gentleman?”
“I should just be a layman!”
“Hmm—I’ll be satisfied as long as it’s good for me!”
“Let’s find a way to get out of here first.”
Mo Fan shook his head.
200,000 attribute points were good, but it was too far away for him to think about it right now.
His main priority should be to find a way to leave.
Bringing Little Chrysanthemum along, Mo Fan continued to farm Demonized Vengeful Spirits.
The process of farming monsters was boring enough, yet it was exacerbated by the fact that there was only a single species of monster in this area.
As Little Chrysanthemum and Mo Fan’s levels increased, the Demonized Vengeful Spirits could only forcefully deduct the minimum amount of damage dealt per attack which was 1 point of their HP.
As their levels became higher and higher than the Demonized Vengeful Spirits, the amount of Spiritual Energy they gained from them also decreased.
Mo Fan could only obtain 1100 points of Spiritual Energy from killing a single Demonized Vengeful Spirit.
The Spiritual Energy required for him to go from Level 18 to Level 19 was 12 million.
Fortunately, he and Little Chrysanthemum were both basically insta-killing the Demonized Vengeful Spirits that they encountered.
Especially Mo Fan, with Kuang Dao’s skin, his stats doubled.
The damage dealt by the bleeding talent had also become as high as 90,000.
As long as cleave was triggered, it would instantly kill a crowd of vengeful spirits!
It was even faster than farming with Chrysanthemum’s Cry.
One by one, countless Demonized Vengeful Spirits fell beneath Mo Fan’s spear.
Even though the Spiritual Energy from each monster was relatively low, the amount still rose rapidly like before. In just half an hour, Mo Fan had already killed about 10,000 Demonized Vengeful Spirits.
At this moment, the black mist from earlier appeared once more.
The Demonized Vengeful Spirit General, Kuang Dao, arrived as planned.
After Kuang Dao appeared, he looked at Mo Fan with an even more confused expression than before.
“Who are you? Why do you look the same to me?”
Kuang Dao’s tone was unfriendly as he pointed his spear at Mo Fan.
“That is not important!”
“Kuang Dao. What is your relationship with Long Jian?”
Mo Fan smiled and asked the question he was more concerned about.
When Kuang Dao heard the name “Long Jian”, his eyes became extremely cold.
But he did not respond at all.
It was as if Long Jian had nothing to do with him.
“If you won’t answer me. Then, die!”
Kuang Dao shook his spear and attacked Mo Fan.
-3194
-4218 (Physical Attack Dodged)
Kuang Dao attacked twice.
Mo Fan did not expect to activate the bloodline talent of the Demonized Vengeful Spirit and dodge one of Kuang Dao’s attacks.
This time, Mo Fan was using Kuang Dao’s skin.
As a result, he could not summon the five chrysanthemum spirits to serve as his cannon fodder.
A spear shot out from his hand.
-33,716
-16,858 (Cleave)
-101,148 (Critical Hit)
-33,960 (Bleeding)
-33,960 (Bleeding)
-33,960 (Bleeding)
Mo Fan had also attacked twice and reduced Kuang Dao’s HP by more than 250,000.
He was also lucky enough to land a critical hit.
“+200% Attack is awesome!”
“Hmph! Your attack is high, but my attack is higher. So what if you have more HP than me?”
Mo Fan dodged Kuang Dao’s attacks while looking for an opportunity to attack.
After Mo Fan’s health increased by 200%, it reached over three hundred thousand.
Kuang Dao’s attacks could not threaten him at all.
However, it was different for the latter.
Every time Mo Fan attacked, he dealt at least a hundred thousand health points in damage.
Therefore, Kuang Dao soon fell under his spear once again.
[Demonized Vengeful Spirit General – Kuang Dao (Level 20 Silver Rank Boss) has been killed…]
[Equipment dropped: Demonized Vengeful Spirit Helmet, Demonized Vengeful Spirit Boots.]
[92 Gold Coins]
Kuang Dao only dropped two pieces of equipment.
They were both a part of the Demonized Vengeful Spirit Set.
He would probably have to kill him a few more times to gather the entire set.
The gold coins dropped were also fewer than the last time.
Seeing the black fog around him gradually dissipate, Mo Fan checked his Star Level Fragments.
He had been busy farming monsters, so he could not pay attention to it.
[Star Level Fragment: 21,092/10,000 (Star Ascension Possible)]
Unknowingly, the fragments that he had so far were already more than 21,000.
Mo Fan directly clicked on the Star Ascension button!
A golden light rose from the bottom of his feet. His star level instantly rose to four.
The requirements for the Star Ascension changed with his ascension.
[Star Level Fragment: 30/100 (Star Level 1 Fragment)]
After his ascension, his attributes greatly improved.
His three main attributes increased by 500, and so did his Attack and HP.
The most obvious change was the name of his character, which had become “Pioneer-Sturdy-Agile-Vigorous Scarecrow Overlord Strawly”.
“Are you kidding me? Isn’t this name a little too long?”
“It’s already more than ten meters!”
Mo Fan looked at the name above his head. He was rendered speechless.
His name was not split into two lines.
It was displayed directly above his head—it was thick and long
It was seven to eight times longer than his body.
“What will happen to my character name in the future?”
“Will my name grow long enough to pierce a hole through the game world?”
Thinking of this possibility, Mo Fan could not help but reveal a strange look.

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.
