Chapter 17: Logging Off at Last
Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios
As the corpses despawned, Mo Fan suddenly realized that there were some shiny things buried where the corpses lay.
He walked over and saw a few silver coins and some equipment.
There were too many notifications from the system just now, so he did not pay much attention to them.
Surprisingly, the drop rate in this place was pretty good.
Mo Fan kept the silver coins and the other items.
He obtained a total of 17,329 silver coins and an entire set of Level 10 Green Equipment.

After seeing the attributes of the set, Mo Fan was greatly invigorated.
Sadly, he had to be at Level 10 before he could wear it.
He was still short of Spiritual Energy to reach Level 10.
After checking even more carefully this time, he found that there were a total of 13 Vengeful Spirit Sets and some extra pieces of equipment.
It has been less than a day since the game opened to the public. In the trading section of the official website, there was no green or above equipment, let alone an entire set of green equipment.
“Why don’t I list a set to test the waters?”
Mo Fan listed a Vengeful Spirit Set in the trading section and set it as a time-limited auction.
The base price was $3000 and the time limit was twelve hours.
Then, he continued grinding the Demonized Vengeful Spirits.
After Little Chrysanthemum leveled up, her stats became even higher than before.
Mo Fan’s farming speed increased as a result.
After Mo Fan farmed another wave of vengeful spirits, a golden light rose from his body and he reached Level 10.
[System Notification: Congratulations on reaching Level 10. You have received the Title: Pioneer!]
[System Notification: Congratulations on reaching Level 10. The Spiritual Power System has been unlocked!]
[System Notification: Congratulations on reaching Level 10. Spiritual Power increases by 1 point per minute. The speed of obtaining Spiritual Power is doubled when meditating.]
Mo Fan only took a glance at the series of system notifications before turning his attention away.

Then, what he did next was to log off!
Log off!
The world around him changed as the game world before his eyes disappeared.
Mo Fan found himself in a messy room.
Mo Fan looked at the familiar 2D beauties on the wall of the room.
It felt as if a lifetime had passed.
His eyes turned moist from the excitement of being finally able to log out of the game.
“I’m finally offline!”
“Yes, yes, this helmet is so suffocating!”
He sat up and took off the gaming helmet.
He examined the helmet in his hand and found no problems with it.
He spent about 13 hours and 32 minutes in the game.
It was almost four in the morning by the time he was able to log out.
After Mo Fan got out of bed, he realized that his communication device had been ringing non-stop, but he had not received any notifications about it in the game.
Was it because he was not a normal player in the game?
He opened his communication device and prepared to go to the fridge to get some food.
After turning on the communication device, a holographic projection of a beautiful girl appeared in the room.
Her eyes were very big and she had two ponytails.
She looked somewhat similar to Mo Fan.
Then, she started to speak.
“Brother, what are you doing?”
“I’ve been calling you but you never picked up my call. Are you playing games again?”
“Let me tell you. Tong Yuan found me a very good job. I like it very much.”
“As for what job it is—I’ll tell you tomorrow. I’ll bring you to have a good meal.”
“Also, you must take good care of yourself! Don’t just focus on playing games. That’s all!”
“See you tomorrow!”
Mo Fan took out an instant nutritional meal from the fridge and smiled as he watched the holographic image disappear.
Ever since his parents disappeared, the only person who cared about him was Mo Han.
He opened the packaging of the instant nutritional meal in his hand and placed it in the microwave to heat it up.
Although this instant nutritional meal was said to be nutritious—it was actually a mass-produced food similar to instant noodles in the past. The only advantage it had to other food items was that it was very cheap.
The year was 2077.
Most jobs out there did not need humans anymore.
Instead, human workers were replaced by machines.
The primary and secondary industries hardly needed humans anymore.
Only service lines had a few jobs available for the common populace.
As the social class gradually stagnated, it was very difficult for a young man like Mo Fan to stand out in society.
Two minutes later, the instant nutritional meal was ready.
Mo Fan took it out and ate it rather earnestly.
It has been more than ten hours since he ate his last meal—he was really hungry.

After eating and drinking to his heart’s content, he went to take a shower and fell asleep in no time.
…
“Master, you have a visitor!”
Mo Fan was woken up by the smart speaker.
He opened his eyes unwillingly and immediately reached out to block the sunlight from entering through the window.
He narrowed his groggy eyes and stretched his body.
“Master, you have a visitor!”
“Master, you have a visitor!”
Mo Fan quickly got out of bed and put on his underwear as the speaker continued to tattle away.
He then opened the door.
“Brother, it’s already 11 o’clock, but you’re still sleeping?!” Mo Han huffed angrily before pushing Mo Fan aside and entering the room.
Seeing the mess in the room, Mo Han frowned.
At a glance, there was dirty laundry everywhere; on the bed, on the sofa, on the chair, and even on the table.
In the corner opposite the bed was a pile of yellowish tissues.
The rubbish bin was almost filled with food packaging and mineral water bottles.
“I haven’t been here for a week and your room is already so messy?”
Mo Han shook her head and started to tidy up the room.
Mo Fan smiled at the busy Mo Han and replied, “I have you after all!”
Upon hearing this, Mo Han grabbed a piece of clothing and threw it over to him.
“Hey, are you kidding me? I’m your sister, not your wife!”
“Your wife should be doing all these things. Tell me, when are you going to find me a sister-in-law?”
Mo Han glared at Mo Fan with a look of disappointment.
Her two ponytails swayed back and forth with her gestures.
“Hehehe, you will definitely see her—in the future!”
Mo Fan put the clothes aside and ran into the bathroom.
Seeing Mo Fan’s attitude, Mo Han sighed helplessly and started to get busy once again.
…
After Mo Fan washed up and came out of the bathroom, his eyes lit up.
The room had become sparkling clean.
“Little sister, to think that you can still do this so quickly!”
“Yeah, yeah… Are you done yet? Let’s go!”
“Where are we going?”
“Didn’t I tell you yesterday? I found a new job. Let’s go and celebrate, I’ll bring you to have a feast.”
Mo Fan thought of the money he had earned in the game and replied with a smile. “Sure, I’ll treat you to a meal since you’ve worked so hard.”
“You should save that bit of money for your future wife!”
Mo Han shook her head and left the room.
Mo Fan wanted to say something.
But in the end, he kept his silence and obediently followed her out.
The sky in City H was extremely bright, with no clouds in sight.
After coming out of his stuffy room, Mo Fan’s mood became much better.
Technology had developed very quickly and the government’s management of the environment had also become very thorough.
One could no longer see any trace of smog in the city compared to how it was in the past.
After going downstairs, Mo Han hailed a taxi.
The two of them got into the taxi and left.
…
After arriving at a restaurant, Mo Han brought Mo Fan to an elegant table.
Upon entering, Mo Fan found a man who was almost as handsome as him.
When the man saw them, he stood up with a smile and greeted them.
“Hello, I’m Li Minghao. Are you Xiao Han’s brother, Mo Fan?”
“Little sister, this is?” Mo Fan ignored Li Minghao and asked Mo Han beside him.
“Brother, Li Minghao and I work in the same studio. We’re colleagues.”
After saying that, Mo Han looked at Li Minghao unhappily and said, “Li Minghao, please call me by my full name. We are not that close.”
“Okay, okay, okay… Both of you should take a seat first.”
Li Minghao smiled awkwardly and immediately extended his hand.
Mo Fan stared sharply at Li Minghao and thought:
You want to woo my sister?
You have to get past me first!
Once the three of them sat down, Li Minghao said, “The food in this restaurant tastes pretty good. There are a lot of people here, so I ordered the dishes first. You don’t mind, do you?”
“It’s okay. This will save us some time.” Mo Han replied with a smile.
Li Minghao was very polite, but looking at Mo Fan…
“Brother, can you stop pulling a long face?”
“Why are you staring at him like that? Is he your enemy?”
Mo Han saw Mo Fan’s expression. She was immediately infuriated.
She originally thought that bringing Mo Fan over for a meal would be a joyful scenario for both her and him.
But who knew that the moment Mo Fan saw Li Minghao, he would act as if he had seen an enemy.
Mo Han couldn’t help but be embarrassed.
“Oh… do I look unhappy?” Mo Fan was stunned. Then, he stared at Li Minghao and said with a smile: “Little sister, this Li Minghao looks like a man of talent (looks like a dog). I can’t help but take a few more glances at him.”
Hearing Mo Fan’s words, Li Minghao smiled awkwardly.
Mo Han rolled her eyes at Mo Fan.
Then, she looked apologetically at Li Minghao and said to Mo Fan, “Hmph, I don’t care what you’re thinking. We’re here to have a good meal. Don’t ruin it.”
“I work in a gaming studio that Li Minghao’s uncle owns.”
“I’ll need Li Minghao’s help in the future….”
After speaking, Mo Han kicked Mo Fan hard under the table.
Mo Fan endured the pain and tugged at the corner of his lips, nodding immediately.
“Mo Han, it’s not right for you to say that. In the future, when we work together, we are considered colleagues. It’s natural that we help each other.” Li Minghao interrupted with a smile.
Mo Fan suddenly thought of something and asked.
“By the way, which game is your gaming studio focused on?”

Ph. D. In Sorcery
Follow Anastasia, the unlucky physicist turned wizard, as her reality gets turned upside down and she is plunged into a world of gods, magic, swords, and adventure. Short and sweet description, anything more would be a spoiler and I detest those. Now, what you can expect from reading: This is my first time writing, or better said allowing someone else to read that mess so don’t raise your expectations too much. Still, I will try to keep the story flowing, while also devoting as much time as I can to editing. In my opinion, the story is written at a faster pace than normal with time skips here and there. I will do my best to not allow the faster pace to ruin the story by using those time skips to raise the skill of the main character. I am mainly looking for feedback while I test myself in new and unexplored waters. I did put a lot of thought into worldbuilding and the magic system, it is something that has been mulling inside my head for years before I sat down to write anything down. First and foremost I am an engineer and not a writer. I will try to do my utmost to make the world logical and consistent, but sometimes I might not express that in a way that’s clearly understood. I have a rough outline with several possible endings, but the story will change and evolve as I do. But in case I have to stop for whatever reason, the story will get an ending. It will be done even if I have to send coded messages from a bunker. I am a big fan of the Dresden Files so you can be certain that everything mentioned will in most cases be used, with a few red herrings sprinkled in the mix. But that also means I will enjoy putting the main character through the meat grinder while I eat popcorn and laugh from my evil lair. Physics, and to be more precise electromagnetism, quantum field theory, general and special relativity are very interesting topics for me that I research in my spare time. That means that the premise of the story will be using that research to bring logic to magic. Stupid I know, magic is magic, but to me, there is no reason why there shouldn’t be a concrete set of rules there. But it is still magic and that allows me to play with some things that shouldn’t normally be possible. I will focus on evolving the main character and having her react as anyone normal would, from my perspective. There will be scenes of battle, gore, and sexy times, but I will not go into too many details, counting on your imagination to fill the gaps. There will be plenty of combat, even battles ranging from a few dozen, a hundred, and thousands of participants. I could go on but there isn’t much to say that would convince anyone to read, either you thought the title was cool or you liked the poster. Or not, but after several days in photoshop, that’s the best I could do. And the title was originally Sorceress with a Ph.D. The new one makes a little less sense but I like the ring of it more for some reason. I just hope someone enjoys what I write as much as I do. In the end that is the reason, I am doing this, because I enjoy putting my thoughts on paper and seeing the outcome. Credit for the art: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/e0o8nw
