The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 698

Angela's eyes were closed, but her head was pounding, making it difficult to go to sleep on the dreadful hospital bed. To distract herself from the headache, Angela sat up and pulled the switch of the lamp, and a bright white light lit up her room. She looked around and noticed the bare white walls, the old television hanging on the front wall, and the two frayed chairs in the corner. Gosh, she thought, could they not buy new chairs. She tried to move around but felt a pain shoot up her arm. Gasping, she quickly pulled the load on her arm and examined it. She was surprised to see a cast on it.
What had happened?
Angela felt her body looking for more injuries, and she frowned further when she felt something on her head. She tried to sit up as best she could, fix the pillows with one arm. How had she gotten here? Oh yes!
She remembered falling from the harness during the shoot. She had blanked out then, but she vaguely remembered paramedics. The white walls and strong clinical smell confirmed that they had probably brought her over to the hospital.
Was she here alone? As soon as she thought this, Acton walked into the room, holding a cup of coffee in one hand, and furiously typing away on his phone with the other. He sat down in the seat across from Angelo's bed, all without looking up at him.
Angela smiled and lightly cleared her throat.
"Oh shit!" Acton was startled and almost lost the grip on his cup.
"Um, sorry," Angela sheepishly said while smiling.
"Oh hey! You are awake! How are you feeling?" Acton gushed over Angela. "Do you need anything?"
"No…no…I'm fine! Thank you. What happened?"
"The doctor said you might have a slight concussion and a broken arm, so you need to stay in the hospital for a few days."

"Okay," Angela nodded her head. Surprisingly, she was expecting more injuries considering how high of a distance she fell from.
Angela looked around the room, "Are you the only one here or is…?" She questioned, hoping Drake was also here.
"Yes, I'm the only one here now."
Angela nodded. Of course, Drake would not come to the hospital to see a child that was adopted. Thinking this, she laughed at herself, trying to ward off the disappointment of Drake not visiting her or even calling to check up on her.
"Angelo, this is your contract." Acton pulled out a thick file with her name written in big, bold letters at the front.
Angela took the contract, feeling confused, "Um, yes?" Why was he giving it to her?
Acton sighed deeply and looked up at her sadly. "Unfortunately, Drake has asked to terminate your contract, and he will pay the liquidated damages."
Angela was shocked and gaped at Acton. Why did Drake want to terminate the contract just because she was hurt? God only knew how many times she had been hurt on set when she acted in her previous life. She had much worse injuries then! This was nothing! Angela was fuming. Angelo had never heard of such a preposterous thing! Leaving a contract just because of a slight injury!?
"I'm sorry, Angelo. I already talked with Drake and tried to persuade him, but he would not budge. Perhaps you can talk to him?" Acton asked softly.
Angela nodded without saying a word.
"Again, I'm sorry for what happened today and that you got hurt. I really hope you can talk to Drake about the contract." With that, Acton stood up, said goodbye, and left the room, leaving Angela all alone.
Angela felt like she was in a daze. The past few months had all been about the movie. From the moment she woke up to the moment she went to bed at night, she had been working towards shooting the movie. And now, just because of one small injury, Drake was going to take this opportunity away from her!?

For her, this was much bigger than a movie role. It brought some sort of semblance of her previous life, Angela Watts, back in her life. This was about having some autonomy and independence back in her life. She had started to feel like her old self – like a strong independent twenty-five-year-old successful female actress, not an eighteen-year-old adopted son that no one liked or wanted—someone who hid herself as a man on Thorne's family members.
Angela's eyes started dripping with tears. Her walls, the walls that had held her up, made her strong just... collapsed. The same walls that had held are up as her family plotted to murder her, the walls that had held her up while Nathan betrayed her, the walls that had kept up against when she switched lives…moment by moment, they fell away.
Salty drops fell from her chin, drenching her hospital gown. Angela pressed her arms against her mouth to stifle her cries. She was trembling, and she could not stop no matter how hard she tried to clench in her emotions. Was this how her life would be now? Drake forever dictating her every move as if she were a child?
Angela looked at the contract and chucked it across the room. It hit the wall with a satisfied 'clap' and fell to the ground, some papers coming loose from the binder. If Drake wanted to pay, then let him! He would not only lose his money but on top of that, he would have to pay Acton the damages of canceling a contract.
Angela sighed tiredly and massaged her head with one hand. Her headache was worse than ever, and her arm had started throbbing as well from the movements.
Just when she had lied down in her bed, Angela heard a knock on the door. She hurriedly wiped her face and said, "Come in, please."
Hale walked in, looking over Angela worriedly. "How are you feeling, Mister Thorne?"
"Ughh…like crap!" Angela groaned. "My head is hurting, and my arm is starting to hurt too!"
"Don't worry, Mister Thorne. I will call the nurse right away! Do you want to eat something as well" Hale asked with a concerned tone.
Angela was about to answer, but she heard a woman's voice outside the room.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
