The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 637

Catherine had some ideas as to why Vivian was emotional.
Antonio left on a mission. He couldn't tell his family when he would be back or where he went. Vivian was worried about Antonio and had to vent off.
So Catherine became the target.
Vivian hasn't liked Catherine for a long time. She was looking for something to accuse her of. There came her chance.
"Let's go."
Sean held Catherine's hands to leave. He walked fast with no intentions to stop.
Catherine turned around and said, "Ava, we'll come back the next time."
Although Catherine didn't like Vivian, she liked Ava. She couldn't lose her manners.
"Stop!"
Vivian got mad and tried to go after them. Thomas stopped her.
"What are you doing? Let them be," said Thomas.
"I don't have any say in my son's affairs? Why is Sean so protective of Catherine?"
"Of course. She's his wife. I was protective of you too." said Thomas.
Vivian got blushed.
Catherine didn't start talking until they were far from the house, "That was leaving on bad terms. Vivian will get madder."
"Don't worry about her. She likes to make something out of nothing."
Sean always thought Vivian was living too comfortable a life to be picky.
"I feel like we were running away."
Sean looked at her but didn't say anything.
"She doesn't want you to teach at all," said Catherine.
"She can't make decisions for me," answered Sean.
"I know. But I feel bad for Vivian. Neither of her sons is close to her. She's always the last one to know anything."
"It's better she doesn't know. Besides, Antonio and I have started our own families. If she wants to care about someone, there is Bentley.'

"But Bentley is in kindergarten. I think she's lonely."
Amanda had a job. So only Vivian and Ava didn't have much to do all day.
Catherine could tell Sean didn't get along with Vivian. He had such strong opinions and hated others to interfere with her decisions. Catherine heard how he confronted his family when he was bent on marrying her. That was why Vivian never liked her.
Sean took a call. He looked at Catherine and said yes.
"Clara is back. Brad asks us to come over to his place.'
"Okay. It's been a while since I see her."
They met at the restaurant Brad run.
Clara got the sparkle in her eyes seeing Catherine. She waved at her, and Catherine sat next.
Sean didn't say anything and sat next to Catherine.
"Where's Leydon?" asked Sean.
"Traffic jam," said Brad. "But I think he doesn't want to come. I don't know why he treats his own sister as an enemy."
Clara stopped smiling instantly.
"It's okay. I'm here to see Catherine."Clara said.
"Clara, are you doing any new shows lately?" asked Catherine.
"Yeah. My agent booked me a minishow. I start shooting tomorrow at Belmont city."
"But you just came back. Are you leaving already?" said Catherine.
Clara got off the plane in the afternoon. Brad asked her over not long after she was back. And she invited Sean, Catherine, and Leydon.
"I'm too busy. I'm satisfied to spend one night at home."
Catherine said, "You look thinner. Don't work too hard, and remember to rest. And why not ask your agent to give you a break? You need to relax."
"I don't know what else to do other than work. Sometimes, I work hard, so I don't think. I need to keep busy."

Catherine felt there was something Clara kept from her. And she has been bottling it up. But she couldn't force her to talk.
Catherine liked Clara for who she was. So she hoped whoever she liked could have a good life.
After the food was served, Leydon still didn't show up. Clara looked sad.
Catherine sensed Clara's relationship with Leydon was subtle. They are more than siblings, Catherine wondered.
"I heard Brad was engaged, really?"
Brad glared at Catherine for bringing up the one subject she shouldn't stay at dinner.
"Did I say something wrong?"
Catherine watched Clara's looks. She didn't change much. But her eyes were darkened with a layer of dust. The sparkle was gone.
So Clara cared about Leydon. Catherine had to hide her astonishment over what she guessed. If Clara was into Leydon, it would be forbidden love.
Could the reason they didn't get along being that Leydon found out? Catherine thought.
"Leydon is getting engaged," Sean said.
"To Miss Emma Darby?"
"Yeah."
Catherine never knew Leydon in her last life. So she didn't know whether he married Emma. But either way, it was a shock to Clara.
"Aren't you three the same age? Getting engaged at 25 is a bit early, isn't it?" asked Catherine.
"There is one married 25-year-old. And you didn't forget how old you are, right?" asked Leydon.
"Forget about it. Let's dig in."Sean said.
Brad changed the subject to ease the mood, "Sean, what's it like to be a professor? It must be awesome."
Sean looked at Brad like he's a fool.
"I thought it over. I'm more than qualified to teach physical education."
Catherine laughed out.
"What? Aren't I qualified?"
"What can you do?"
"I'm a great swimmer and golfer. So I can teach a swimming or golfing class. That's part of PE, right?"
Catherine said, "But we don't have any swimming pools nor golf course. You can't."
"How about tennis and basketball?"
"I thought all you know was picking balls up," said Sean.
Brad said, "What? I'm not that bad."
Catherine couldn't resist the urge to laugh.
"Why do you want to be a teacher?" asked Catherine.
Leydon said, "No reason."
Sean said, "He was disciplined by the teacher too many times as a kid. Now he wants revenge."
"I didn't!" Brad said.
"Brad, do you really want to be a teacher?" asked Clara.
"I'm just kidding. Sean gets the job, and it seems fun."
Clara nodded. She was in a better mood since they have changed the topic.
As for Leydon, he didn't show up the whole time, not even they finished the meal and said goodbye to the restaurant.

Fragments of Glass
before the 1939-1945 War, most churches in England had stained glass windows, but despite local people's best efforts many of these windows were smashed in the bombing. What could be repaired was repaired, but in many churches all they could do was reassemble the remaining fragments randomly, with extra bits of clear glass added to eke them out to fill the windows. That is what I imagined for my collection of short stories: fragments of stained glass, bits of robe, bits of faces, all sorts of odds and ends randomly stuck together. And with quite a lot of clear fragments among the coloured ones. Just broken pieces of stories that anyone can look through.
