The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 408

Since the very moment she knew she would see Spencer, she had been planning what she should do, especially thinking about the possibility that Spencer had lost his memory and was now with another girl. I had to stay calm. I'd better watch and observe before taking action. She told herself but was doubtful of her capability of staying calm when she saw Spencer. Four years! I've prayed every day for his return.
Wendy suggested that they should get to the party a bit early so they could be better prepared, Nathalia agreed. Suddenly, she felt emotional and grateful that Wendy was with her. "Thank you, Wendy." She said sincerely, looking at Wendy when they got off the car outside the casino where the wedding was. Wendy gave Nathalia's hand a little squeeze and said with a supportive smile, "You are most welcome. I'm here with you."
The party was held on the rooftop of the casino. They could hear the band playing and even people chatting cheerfully. The familiar sound somehow struck fear into Nathalia's heart as she recalled the night she died in her previous life. She shook her head and told herself to think of positive thoughts.
As soon as they made their appearance, as usual, people were stunned by their beauty and couldn't help paying compliments. Wendy knew quite a lot of the guests, but she only spoke to them briefly to socialize as she wanted to stay with Nathalia and to give her support. They found a relatively quiet spot where they could see the entrance and waited.
"Do you know what you are going to do when you see him?" Wendy asked tentatively.
"I do, and I don't," Nathalia said. "I'm hoping to figure it out calmly before I approach him, but I don't know how I will really react when I see him." She sipped her drink absentmindedly.

The guests were socializing and chatting cheerfully, but their cheerfulness seemed surreal to her.
"Don't worry. It will be fine. I have your back." Wendy said encouragingly. She wondered how much pain Nathalia had been through in the past years.
A group of people gathered around near the band, talking, and suddenly all burst into laughter. It caught Nathalia's attention. She turned to look and spotted a familiar face. "Who's the man with a bow tie standing in the middle?" she asked. The man appeared to be more superior than others.
"Ah, that's Jeff, the groom," Wendy said.
"Jeff?" Nathalia muttered. Jeff. Casino. She thought for a while, then suddenly she remembered that Jeff was Spencer's friend whom she met on their wedding trip. She remembered Matt talking to Jeff about some petrol business cooperation. And Katie, his sister, is the girl that fancies Spencer! She felt like she had suddenly grasped something. It was so close yet still unclear. There must be some secrets behind it. Why would Spencer be with Katie?
"I know him," Nathalia said quietly.
"Pardon?" Wendy didn't hear what Nathalia said but noticed that she had been watching Jeff suspiciously.
"I know him. I should go and talk to him." Nathalia said and went towards the group of men.
Just then, a girl ran towards Jeff with open arms and a happy grin. "Jeff, my dearest brother, congratulations!" It was Katie.
Nathalia froze when she saw Katie, and the thought that Spencer was probably around struck her. She looked around anxiously, searching for him, her heart was pounding.
Then, he came in sight. She gasped, covering her mouth with both hands. "Spencer." She thought she had screamed out his name, but it only came out as a whisper. She wanted to run to him, into his embrace, but she remained still as if her feet were glued to the floor. Tears streamed down her face.

Wendy stood next to her quietly. She knew that Nathalia needed the time to let it sink in.
"Ryan! Come!" Katie turned around and said cheerfully to Ryan, who resembled Spencer exactly. Ryan didn't seem to look very happy, but he smiled at her, a bit reluctantly, and went over.
"Congratulations, Jeff." He extended his hand out for a handshake, but Jeff embraced him and patted on his back. "Thanks, Ryan. I'm glad you can come." Ryan didn't really feel like coming to the party, as he had noticed that every time he came to the casino, flashes of memories popped in his head. But the fact that he couldn't remember it gave him a headache.
"I hope my wedding day will come soon too!" Katie said to his brother and then looked at Ryan with expectation, who, however, offered no response except another reluctant smile.
Ryan had been with Katie for two years now since he woke up from the coma. He couldn't remember what had happened, where he was, who he was, but he somehow knew that there was a woman that was very important to him in his life. Occasionally and often unexpectedly, vague memories flashed by in his mind.
The first person he saw was Jeff when he woke up, who claimed to be his best friend and the brother of his fiancée. He was told that he was the co-owner of an oil company, that he was born and grew up in Las Vegas. When he asked Jeff about his family, he was told that he was born an orphan, but Jeff and Katie's parents raised him up like he was their own child, and he and Katie had always loved each other.
"Katie?" He said the name but found it very unfamiliar. When he saw Katie, he felt distant, and he found it very difficult to comprehend as somehow, despite his loss of memories, he believed that he was close to the woman in his heart. Yet, he couldn't even recall her face.
In the past two years, he learned to accept his loss of memories and his new identity gradually. Though Jeff had been treating him like his own brother and Katie adored him very much, Ryan always felt like something was missing. He didn't feel at home with them.
He tried to make himself fall in love with Katie as he thought he should, but he couldn't. He stayed with her simply because he felt the responsibility to do so.
He had dreamed of the woman, the woman whose name he could not tell, whose face he could not see, but he knew he loved this woman. He never told Katie nor Jeff.

Finally, Anenna must begin to confront a new identity as the last parts of her old one abandon her. In the background of their journey is the mystery around the Immortal King, the mythic founder of the Biterrain’s dominant religion who allegedly disappeared to Earth many millennia ago. Despite the planet being central to the dogma around their messiah figure, Earth has been relegated to myth and conjecture by the general populace of the Biterrain due to their inability to validate its existence in the present time. How will Zavier navigate in a world where he holds its holy grail within his own identity and who can he really trust in a world of such contrived obliviousness?
