The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 405

There were so many questions in Matt's mind. Sensing that he wasn't welcomed and recalling his last meeting with Lisa, he thought he'd better leave it this time. But before he did, he had to make sure he could see Nathalia again.
Matt threw a thoughtful look at Lisa, then asked Nathalia, "How long will you stay here? Have you moved back to Miami?"
"Just a short visit. A few days." Nathalia said.
"And dad and Sue?" Matt thought if they were back here as well, then, very likely, he could find Nathalia through his father.
"They are at home." Again, Nathalia answered indifferently.
Just then, the waiter brought food, and Nathalia said cheerfully, "Looks lovely. Let's dig in." Lisa joined in willingly, and Sophie and Martin picked up their fork a bit awkwardly. Seeing that he did not belong to the group. Matt said goodbye and left them alone.
Nathalia noticed that Lisa watched Matt leave with relief. I shall speak to Lisa later. She didn't tell me the whole story. She thought.
That night Nathalia had a good sleep and dreamed of Spencer again. Everything in the house was the same as before. Zoe had been taking care of the place very well.
The next morning, she woke up in good spirits. Today was the day she was to make a big decision concerning Carter's Company. Somehow she felt a sense of immense freedom. She had decided to let it go.
A regular board meeting was being held when Nathalia arrived. The staff that recognized Nathalia were extremely surprised and happy. They smiled, applauded and welcomed her warmly.
When she showed up at the conference room, everyone was stunned, and silence fell over. No one spoke a word for a few seconds. It's Mrs. Nathalia Davidson! She's back! She's looking amazing as she used to be, and a bit more mature.

My god! It's been four years! She's back!
Finally, Nicolas Ford stood up and said, "Nathalia, you are back." Then Richard stood up, then everyone else did except Ben, and applause followed. "Welcome back, Mrs. Nathalia Davidson."
Nathalia smiled elegantly and said, "Thank you. I've come back to leave, for good." She said calmly.
Everyone was stunned and confused. Ben gazed at Nathalia for a while till he was aware of it and realized that he still found her uniquely attractive. He shook his head as if to wake his mind up and asked, "What do you mean? To leave for good?"
"I've sold my shares, and I've come to resign," Nathalia announced calmly.
Everyone gasped, shocked. Nicolas and Ben exchanged a look, and both felt relieved. Ben had married Kate Ford, Nicolas' daughter, two years ago, and ever since then, Nicolas had been assisting Ben more with the company.
It had been a rather successful four years, and Ben had slowly gained the trust of the board and the staff.
"But why, Nathalia? I thought you attached great importance to the company as it belongs, well, belonged to your family." Richard asked. He, together with Nicolas, had been in the company for decades, and they watched Nathalia grow up and understood how much she valued the company. She had fought a hard battle to finally defeat Frank Carter, but now she was leaving for good.
Nathalia smiled. It was a grateful smile. "Richard, Nicolas, you two have been with the company for the longest, and I thank you for what you have done for the company. I've learned that the company has been doing well under the management of Mr. Ben Johnson." She turned to look at Ben, who was utterly shocked.
She's actually paying me a compliment! Ben thought in disbelief.

"I'm relieved and very glad to know that the company is doing well, and so I can resign with no worries."
The board of directors murmured and discussed, finding it hard to comprehend. They had, however, all noticed the subtle change in Nathalia, that she had this serenity about her, that she was peaceful, yet at the same time so alive and free.
"I respect your decision," Ben said clearly. Part of him was still trying to understand why and found it very difficult to believe, while the other part of him somehow felt grateful.
Nathalia didn't explain much as she didn't think it necessary. "My PA will inform you of the details and answer any questions you have related to the shares."
She knew that they would not understand even if she tried to explain. In the past three years, Nathalia let go a lot. She had unloaded herself the weight of responsibility, power and sought the truth of life, which was to live it to its fullest by doing what she loved, what she was passionate about, what gave her joy, and by loving and spending time with the people she loved.
She had had a deep conversation with Curt and Sue, and to her surprise, they were both supportive when she told them her decision. It then dawned on her that the loss of Spencer, though she still believed that it was only temporary and that Spencer would return, had had a great impact on all of them, not just herself, especially on how they now understood the meaning of life and the importance of the happiness of their loved ones.
Nathalia had decided to keep the café as she loved the simplicity of it, and it was a place where people could enjoy their own time and away from work, away from all the stress from life.
Flowers, books, coffee, and tea are great little treats for people's life. She thought. And I might come back to live in Miami one day. When I do, I will manage the place myself. As with The Trend, Lisa had been running it well, and Nathalia only needed to do some designing when she felt like it, and it was something she enjoyed doing anyway.
Sue and Curt enjoyed the company of their grandchildren very much and spent the most time with them. Curt had no intention of interfering with the management of the Davidson Group. He had been updated regularly on how it was going, and there was nothing to worry about much. The only thing that concerned him was the letter about Matt he received from Lisa about three years ago.
