The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 289

Spencer dialed the number excitedly and ordered dinner. The room service was quick and excellent. Very soon, dinner was served. There was steak, salad, mushroom cream soup, chocolate cake, etc.
Aunt Emma got changed, came out, and was surprised to see the plates of food. "Wow. That's a feast." She exclaimed with a smile.
Spencer thought about how Nathalia would usually react when she saw good food and couldn't help smiling. My babe is a real foodie. She would have enjoyed this. Hahaha.
Spencer stood up and pulled the chair out for aunt Emma. "My aunt Emma deserves a feast." He said cheerfully.
"Aren't you the sweetest boy? I wish I had a son like you." Aunt Emma sat down gracefully and smiled happily. It was possibly her biggest regret, not having a son as excellent as Spencer.
"Aha. It's not too late. Aunt Emma surely has the chance still." Spencer giggled. Though aunt Emma had often said that he would inherit all her property, Spencer himself didn't really care much about money.
On hearing so, aunt Emma seemed to look upset, "It's alright. Men can't be trusted." There was a hint of hate in her tone.
Spencer was rather shocked by her response. "I'm sure a woman as charming as aunt Emma must have met someone that you had fallen deeply in love with."
Aunt Emma had a sip of the wine, then knitted her brows in disapproval.
"I love him, but he doesn't love me. It's just not meant to be." She sounded regretful.
"Hmm." Spencer suddenly realized again that he had never really got to know aunt Emma. "How come? Who is it that doesn't even know to appreciate my beautiful aunt Emma?"
Emma lowered her head, and Spencer couldn't see her face. "It's the past anyway. The wine tastes awful." She put the glass down rather angrily and asked one of the helpers to get a bottle from the cupboard.

It was one from 1968, the best wine from the best vineyard in France. Spencer was impressed. Aunt Emma does know the best stuff.
He leaned on the chair and watched aunt Emma pour the wine, with such grace and delicacy. It's strange that aunt Emma has been single. She surely has her charm.
"Here. Let's have a drink." Aunt Emma handed Spencer a glass. Spencer took it and said, "To aunt Emma. Cheers." He had a gulp. It was a bit spicy, yet very smooth. Good wine indeed. Spencer enjoyed it.
They talked about the past over dinner, some amusing anecdotes when Spencer was little. Both grew more and more excited as they talked. Aunt Emma made sure Spencer's glass was always filled.
However, it was only after two glasses or so, Spencer started to feel his head heavy. Am I getting drunk? But I haven't drunk much yet. That's weird.
Suddenly, Aunt Emma changed the subject and said, "You know, Spencer, aunt Emma is telling you, seriously. You shouldn't spoil your woman too much..." Spencer didn't like it and cut her short, "Aunt Emma, you've had too much to drink..." That's really weird. Aunt Emma never gets drunk, but this time, even she seems to be drunk.
Aunt Emma poured Spencer another glass, rather unsteadily. "Nah, not enough yet. Come, cheers."
Spencer frowned, his head feeling heavier and heavier. His hand fell as soon as he raised his glass and dropped it. His head dropped down onto the table.
Aunt Emma pushed him rather hard, "Spencer, Spencer. What happened? Can you hear me? You alright?" Spencer gave no response. Then she stood up suddenly and looked sober. After a little while, there came a knock at the door.
She opened the door. It was from Anna. She looked nervous, as well as excited. "Aunt Emma."

Aunt Emma took a look at the corridor and said, "Come on in."
Nathalia was holding her cuddling teddy, watching TV, but rather absent-mindedly, while taking a glance at the clock now and then. It was now almost eleven. He should be home soon. She thought.
Time seemed to go so fast when he was around. The two would talk, watch a film, play. There was never a dull moment when they were together. And occasionally, when Spencer was away, she would feel lonely, and time seemed to crawl slowly like a snail.
She realized that she had grown used to his company. Even when he was working at the study while she would be doing her homework, and they had their own space without interrupting each other, she loved that whenever she looked up and she could see him there.
Mrs. Davidson came out of her bedroom to get some water and saw Nathalia sitting on the sofa. "Is Spencer not back yet? Did he say where he was going?" she asked a bit worriedly.
Nathalia shook her head, "No, but I guess he will be back soon." She didn't think of asking, assuming that it was just another usual business dinner.
She thought about calling him, but she didn't want him to think that she was being controlled, so she waited.
"Why don't you give him a call? Just tell him that I'm asking when he's coming home." Mrs. Davidson seemed to have read Nathalia's mind. She sat down next to her and said gently.
That's a great reason. Nathalia thought and instantly grabbed her phone and made the call.
"He's not answering," Nathalia said worriedly. What happened? Why do I have a bad feeling about it? Oh. Please answer, Spencer. Please.
"He might be away in the bathroom. Or driving?" Mrs. Davidson frowned.
Nathalia pouted her lips, worried. She tried a few more times, and finally, someone picked up the phone. She heaved a sigh of relief. "Spencer, finally! You answered. I've been trying to reach you..." she said excitedly.
"He's sleeping, right next to me." It was a woman's voice. It sounded so familiar. There was an apparent air of arrogance and triumph in her tone.
Nathalia gasped. "Anna Jones! Why? Put Spencer on the phone!" Why is Spencer with her? What the hell happened?! She felt like someone had hit her head hard. She was confused and anxious.
"Hahaha. Spencer is my man. Nathalia, you hear me! You will be dumped and divorced soon! Hahaha." Anna laughed proudly and evilly and hung up.
Nathalia was trying to call again and again, but she couldn't get through. She was shaking. Mrs. Davidson was shocked and quickly hugged her to calm her down. "Nathalia, my girl. Tell me, what happened?"
Nathalia turned to face Mrs. Davidson, looking lost and helpless, said, "Spencer is with Anna, and they..." Her voice trembled. She was shocked.
"No! That's impossible! Nathalia, listen to me. I know my son..." Mrs. Davidson tried to make sense of it while calming Nathalia down. I will not believe it. My son never has feelings for Anna. It's been almost twenty years. How would he just change suddenly?!
Nathalia was at a loss. Various thoughts and images went through her head. What should I do? Where is he?
