The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 283

Nathalia didn't intend to reply, but somehow she thought it over and said, "Yes." Brief and determined.
Now everyone had their attention on her. Mrs. Davidson was shocked as well. Didn't we agree not to answer any questions? It's going to cause some trouble now.
Like a crocodile having smelled the blood of his prey, the journalists were excited. "Don't you think that you should be helping get your parents-in-law back together instead of supporting their divorce?" someone asked loudly and boldly.
Nathalia paused, and everyone followed suit. She turned around, all eyes on her. She looked determined and serious, and in a voice clear and confident, she answered, "Marriage is like a pair of shoes, only those that are wearing the shoes know if they fit or not if they are comfortable or not. The meaning of it is not to show others how shining or beautiful the shoes look, but to be true to yourself. If the shoes are hurting you, why don't you take them off?"
She stated her opinion clearly and turned around, heading towards the court with Mrs. Davidson, holding her arm. Life is too short of lying to oneself, to lock oneself in the box, to hideaway. There's nothing wrong with expressing your real thoughts.
Her words stunned most people in the crowd. It made them think and ponder though some were not convinced. "Have you thought about Mr. Davidson? How does he feel? Don't you think you are being biased?"
Nathalia lifted her eyebrows on hearing so. She felt unjust. "Am I being biased? Why don't you tell me? A man marries a woman but never respects her and instead hurts her, mentally and physically. Do you think I'm being biased?"
The crowd was now silent. They knew the answer, and there was only one answer. Mrs. Davidson was in tears. She felt that someone had seen her wounds, her most fragile self, revealed it to the crowd, but at the same time protected her. She felt the most vulnerable yet protected.

"I'm a woman myself, and if I were in my mother-in-law's shoes, I would definitely take the shoes off because I want to live better because I have to be true to myself. So, yes, I support my mother-in-law. 100 percent!" She was fearless, genuine, and daring.
She was the same Nathalia, be her Nathalia Carter or now Nathalia Davidson. She hadn't changed. She always stood up for herself and for those that she loved.
Astonished, aunt Emma thought to herself, that a woman's daughter is surprisingly different from her. Impressive.
"Don't you worry that people will think you are after Davidson's money?" aunt Emma sneered and questioned loudly.
Nathalia glanced at her and looked at the crowd confidently, "If I worried about how people think of me, I would not have been what I'm today. Those that know me. The Davidsons do have a large amount of fortune, but it doesn't interest me. Money never really interests me much. I have enough to spend for the rest of my life. When you have more than enough, the rest is just a number." She shone like a pure pearl, her eyes sparkled with the light of confidence and innocence.
"It's Mr. Curt Davidson." Someone exclaimed suddenly, and everyone turned around to look in search of Curt.
Curt got out of a black sports car, dressed in a dark gray suit, looking majestic and formal.
Matt followed behind Curt. He looked concerned as if he was deep in thought.
The bodyguards moved through the crowd, opening a path for Matt and Curt. Standing on the stairs by the gate, Curt and Susan looked at each other, the tension in the air. Neither uttered a word.
The journalists quickly caught the scene with their cameras. "Are you sure you want to divorce?" Someone asked.

Curt kept his eyes on Susan as he said clearly, "It's not up to me to decide, but I don't want a divorce."
The crowd looked at one another, wondering and guessing. If he doesn't want a divorce, why didn't he treat her better then? So, he regrets now? Men never know to cherish what they've got.
Mrs. Davidson remained silent.
Aunt Emma looked at Curt, coughed a deliberate cough, and said: "Curt, I've tried, but Susan won't listen to me."
It was only then when Curt noticed Emma. He knitted his brows at the sight of her. "It's between Susan and I. Just leave it to us." He said plainly. Being sensitive, Nathalia took a quick glance at him and wondered how he thought of aunt Emma.
Aunt Emma wanted to say something but thought about it and decided to keep quiet.
"Mr. Curt Davidson, I'm sure Mrs. Davidson can be persuaded. I believe she loves you a lot still." Some journalists suggested, rather genuinely.
Mrs. Davidson responded with a silent glance, turned around, and went into the court. Curt sighed and followed behind, and aunt Emma invited herself in.
The journalists waited outside and quickly started a heated discussion.
Curt and Matt and their lawyers seated themselves on one side of the court, while Susan and Nathalia on the other side. Aunt Emma hesitated for a while before she sat herself down next to Nathalia.
Nathalia took a look at her with a sneer. Though aunt Emma was very displeased, she managed not to show it.
There were three judges at court, and one of them was the best-known judge in Miami, who had dealt with a few famous big cases of divorce.
The plaintiff's attorney appealed first, stating the legal requests and listed all the Davidson properties in detail. There must be hundreds of properties listed in the file of documents.
Nathalia had a quick glance once. There was personal property and real property, as well as shares, savings, trusts, and funds. The real property included over a thousand real estate properties, mansions, office buildings, etc.
Then the defense attorney stated the defendant's decision, which was the objection to both divorce and the partition of property.
Now that both parties had spoken, a reconciliation was followed. The chief judge asked sincerely, "Mrs. Susan Davidson, is it definite that you want a divorce? I sincerely suggest you reconsider it and think it over."
Mrs. Davidson looked pale, but when she spoke, she was determined and forceful, "Thank you for your suggestion, your honor, but I have decided. It's certain."
The judge looked rather disappointed and turned to Curt, "Mr. Curt Davidson, what's your opinion?"
"Objection," Curt said plainly and clearly.
As usual, the first trial was just for reconciliation. No results would be announced today.
It was as most had expected. Suddenly, Matt stood up and spoke, "Susan, If I give up my inheritance, will you stay married to dad?"
