The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 273

Leaning by the door casually, her lips pouted, Nathalia looked at aunt Emma with a sneer. It's meant to happen. She's not my kind of people.
Aunt Emma didn't feel awkward being caught at all; instead, she retorted angrily, "Did you just come back to eardrop?! How ridiculous!"
Nathalia burst out laughing. "Hahaha. You are the ridiculous one. I don't care what nobody says about me." Nathalia was the same Nathalia, honest, and real. She didn't care how others thought of her.
Aunt Emma was rather taken aback. She patted her chest gently to help calm herself down. Nobody? Did she just call me a nobody?
Nathalia glanced around the room and knitted her brows. Then she glared at Spencer, "Where's my bag?" She recalled it was Spencer that put her bag away, but she couldn't remember where it was.
Spencer smiled apologetically and took out her bag from under the table. "Here. Babe, why don't you go see Sophie for a bit? Or go shopping around here? I will..."
Nathalia snatched the bag and walked away without saying a word.
She's angry. Spencer felt terrible as he watched Nathalia leave.
Aunt Emma saw Nathalia walk into the lift and went on complaining, "I can't believe it. Did you see how rude she was? The way she talked to me, and even to you..."
"Aunt Emma, she's my wife. Please respect her. I don't want to hear you complain about Nathalia anymore." Spencer snapped.
Aunt Emma stopped instantly. She realized that Spencer was serious. "Do you really love her?" she asked plainly.
"Yes." Spencer nodded without hesitation.
Anna looked at Spencer pitifully, tears in her eyes, but no one cared to pay attention to her.
Aunt Emma took a few deep breaths. When she spoke again, she sounded much calmer. "Alright. I will try to like her for your sake. I will apologize to her when I see her again."

Spencer was relieved to hear so. "It's alright. She will probably have forgotten by then. Nathalia is very forgiving." Aunt Emma seemed surprised yet pleased at the same time to hear that Nathalia was forgiving.
"By the way, where's your father? Has he not been to see your mother yet?" Aunt Emma changed the subject.
"No. He won't come to visit." Spencer said plainly. He looked upset. Why? I just don't understand why my parents have ended up like this.
Just then, there was a knock at the door, and in came Matt. "Spencer. I came to see your mother on behalf of dad. Is she better? I talked to the doctor, and he said it's not serious..."
"Who are you?" Aunt Emma cut in sharply.
"Huh?" Matt looked at aunt Emma for a little while before he recognized her. "I'm Matt. You must be aunt Emma. A pleasure to meet you." Matt said courteously.
Spencer squinted his eyes, displeased by Matt's arrival and his intentionally courteous attitude towards aunt Emma.
However, Matt's politeness didn't do him any good. Aunt Emma commented cruelly, "Spencer, I can't imagine what kind of women your father was fooling around with."
Matt pretended that he didn't hear or care. "How are you, Aunt Emma?" he asked gently.
Anna looked at Matt rather curiously for a while, then asked, "What do you mean, aunt Emma?"
"Huh!" Aunt Emma sneered and said, "You can tell what his mother's like through him. What's wrong with Curt? His wife is beautiful and graceful. What the hell is he doing with those women like his mother?" Aunt Emma threw a disdainful look at Matt.
A smile appeared on Spencer's face. Aunt Emma never changes. Hahaha. I don't like her speaking about Nathalia with that tone, but it's perfect for now.

Matt's face turned stern. "Aunt Emma, I think you are being disrespectful to my mother. Though my mother wasn't perfect, she didn't deserve to be judged so." Though angry he was, he composed himself well and remained calm.
Aunt Emma couldn't help taking a good look at Matt, rather impressed by his reaction. Then she retorted icily, "She did what she did. She is a mistress. It's not a judgment. It's a fact." Aunt Emma didn't know that Matt's mother had passed away, and she didn't notice that Matt was speaking of his mother in the past tense.
"Tell your mother not to forget that my sister is the real Mrs. Davidson. She's just one of the many mistresses." Aunt Emma added.
Matt sighed quietly. A sense of loss grabbed his heart, yet he maintained his calmness. "My mother has passed away. And of course, Susan is the real Mrs. Davidson. I totally agree."
Aunt Emma was surprised to hear so. Again, she took another good look at Matt. He's not to be underestimated. She thought. "Good to know." She said plainly.
Nathalia gave Mrs. Watson a call when she left the hospital and went straight to The Trend.
"Nathalia, how's my girl?" Lisa welcomed Nathalia with a hug. "And how's Mrs. Davidson? I hope it's nothing serious." Lisa had seen the news on TV and heard people talk about it many times.
Nathalia sat down on the sofa, rubbed her temples gently, and said, "Mum's still not awakened yet. I'm so tired." Nathalia felt at home when she was with Lisa, and she didn't need to hide her emotions.
Lisa stroked Nathalia's head gently. "What's the matter? Is it about Spencer?" She had noticed that Nathalia wasn't her usual bubbly self today.
A lot was going on in Nathalia's mind, and she wanted to talk to someone, but she simply said, "No. I'm just tired."
Lisa thought it'd better drop it for now. "Take a nap here. You will feel better when you wake up." Nathalia nodded and lay herself down on the sofa. She didn't think she would be able to get any sleep, but surprisingly she fell asleep within seconds. She was too tired.
Lisa checked on her a couple of times and noticed the frown she wore in her sleep. Life hasn't been gentle to her. She's a strong girl.
Dusk approached when Sophie came in. "Mum, your secretary said Nathalia's here? Where's she?" She glanced around the room.
"Hush," Lisa said quietly and pointed at Nathalia, sleeping on the sofa.
It had become a habit that Sophie would come to The Trend after class and accompany her mother till she finished work, and they would go home together.
