The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 267

Though the Berry family had tried a few more times to bring up the topic again, Spencer redirected the subject quickly and cleverly.
As the night grew more profound, the party came to an end.
As soon as they returned home, Mrs. Davidson asked directly, "Nathalia, tell me, what's between you and that bastard?"
"Huh?" Nathalia was shocked and didn't understand at first. Spencer embraced Nathalia from behind her and replied to his mum instead, "It was Matt trying to cause troubles. He's jealous of us. Mum, you know Nathalia well enough."
Mrs. Davidson thought it over and nodded. "Like mother, like son. That bastard. How evil!" It was understandable that she would doubt Nathalia simply because she was worried about her son. She would not bear to allow her son to be treated the way she had been.
Nathalia heaved a sigh of relief. At least Spencer trusts me. She thought. She didn't think she had to explain anything at all as she knew clearly that she didn't do anything wrong, and she bore no evil thoughts. She then remembered the way Matt acted. It's scary how someone would just change overnight.
Spencer noticed that both Nathalia and his mother seemed upset, so he pecked a kiss on Nathalia's head and went over to hug his mother. "Alright, he's just a nobody. Let's forget about him. Mum, I have to say you look stunning tonight. Did you see how people..." Spencer said sweetly.
Mrs. Davidson smiled and asked cheekily, "More stunning than Nathalia?"
It was the first time she appeared in public as Mrs. Davidson. It was her dream coming true. Though there was still quite a lot to worry about, she felt that she had won a great battle and was pleased with herself.

"Huh?" Spencer was shocked by his mother's response. He thought a little while before he answered with a grin, "As stunning as Nathalia."
Mrs. Davidson patted his head gently and said, "I'm happy with that. Spencer, you know, mum would do anything for you." You are my only child, everything to me.
The sudden determination in her tone gave Spencer a fright. "Mum, what are you thinking about? Everything's fine. Also, your son is a man now and a strong one. I can look after myself and you and Nathalia. Don't worry about dad. I'm here."
Mrs. Davidson smiled. "Yes. Yes, you are right." She seemed much calmer. Spencer took a closer look at her and felt much more relieved.
The next day, the news about Curt's birthday party was all over the TV stations, newspapers, websites, and the radio. Photos of Curt and his family, of distinguished guests, of the grand scene, were seen everywhere.
What got the most attention was the presence of Mrs. Davidson. A detailed description of her appearance and mannerism, as well as speculation about the purpose of her first-ever public presence, was reported by every media.
A large photo of Spencer and Nathalia playing the piano also caught people's attention, and the video click gained over one million views overnight. The tune Liebesgruss became the top three songs on the search engine.
Everyone talked about the Davison family. However, very little was mentioned about Matt or Amy. While watching the news at home, Amy was so furious that she was smashing cups and vases, cursing.
When Curt saw the photo of him, his wife, Spencer, and Nathalia, he gazed at it for a while.
"Mr. Davidson, we are in trouble!" The door flew open, and Ken stormed in with his laptop.

Ken was Curt's personal assistant, whom he trusted the most. He looked terribly worried and shocked, which surprised Curt. This was possibly the first time Curt had seen Ken so anxious.
"What happened?"
Ken mumbled something and put down his laptop on Curt's desk. "Watch this."
It was broadcasting live. Curt stared at the screen, his eyes wide open, his jaw dropped. This is impossible! Has she gone mad?
Mrs. Davison, dressed in black, stood solemnly in front of the courthouse, accompanied by a few bodyguards and a lawyer. A group of reporters gathered around, excited.
"Mrs. Davidson, are you really divorcing Mr. Curt Davidson?" A reporter questioned.
The press couldn't believe it when they got the news that Mrs. Davidson had gone to the court to get a divorce. Just two days ago, she was at Curt's birthday party, arm in arm with her husband, meeting guests from all over the world. They looked intimate and in love. The change was too sudden for anyone to believe.
"Yes. I've had enough. I've waited for over twenty years, hoping he would change. He never did, and I'm tired of waiting. It has to end." Mrs. Davidson said calmly, yet there was clearly sadness in her tone.
People understood what Mrs. Davidson meant about Curt, whose reputation with women had long been approved. He was a man with lovers all over the world. It mustn't be easy to be his wife.
"But isn't it too sudden and perhaps a bit cruel to make such an important decision so hastily and taking it to court straight away?" They have been married for over twenty years, and she should at least think about their son. Taking it to the court just two days after the birthday party is a bit too much.
Mrs. Davidson sighed and said, "Perhaps you think I'm cruel and not making sense; however, I've spent possibly my best years waiting for a man who's never appreciated my time and love. Twenty-six years is more than enough..." She paused, composed herself, and continued, "Twenty-six years have gone and wasted, I don't want to hide and wait anymore. Curt is a proud man. He has enjoyed his life with numerous women; he's betrayed me; but he will not allow news about his failed marriage, about divorce. I had to take it to court."
She was determined not to hide or pretend anymore. Everyone knew anyway. It was just to say it out, what was known to all.
The reporters understood, yet they also showed respect to Curt for his success and social status. "Aren't you worried that this would enrage Mr. Curt Davidson? Is it really the only choice that you have to divorce him?"
Despite Curt's scandalous reputation, he was a man of fame and fortune, the man in many women's dreams.
Mrs. Davidson tried to appear calm, yet one could tell how hard she was managing to compose herself. "I've lost hope, and my mind's set up. I don't care anymore if he's angry. If falling in love with him was a debt I had to pay, I believe I've cleared the debt with twenty-six years' time of staying married, but husbandless." She didn't care anymore.
"That's terrible, what you had to go through." The reporters said sympathetically. They were married but husbandless for twenty-six years. That's mad.

Captain Critiques: A Grumpy Pirate Review Book
(CURRENTLY OPEN)When it comes to reviews, I'm probably as harsh as the hellhole most story ideas crawl out of. I'm blunt, sarcasic, to the point and I know what I like in a story. As you can probably guess, you don't wanna take my advice if your like an overprotective mother about your story. Who am I kidding, EVERYONE is like that about their stories. But, if you could find the courage to pry the story out of your cold, crabby hands so I can give my brutally honest opinion then be my guest. Just don't try and start a fight once I provide it. You DON'T wanna fight a pirate. .................................. I reserve the right to decline stories as this will be taking up quite a bit of my time and if I say no, I mean NO. If your blurb is unreadable I will decline it. If it includes the genres mentioned in my 'Hell No' section then I will send it back where it came from.Do NOT critique the Captain.
