The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 243

Then she turned to look at Jeff with a warm smile and extended her hand for a handshake, "Nice to meet you, Jeff."
Jeff still couldn't comprehend. He shook Nathalia's hand but was still too shocked to believe what Spencer said.
"Spencer Davidson, are you sure? What the hell happened to you?" He addressed Spencer by his full name to show his seriousness.
Spencer glared at Jeff reproachfully, regretting taking Nathalia to the casino. Immediately he explained, "I'm the luckiest man in the world, meeting Nathalia and marrying her. You will understand when you meet the one you love." He said genuinely, and it made Nathalia smile.
Jeff was even more puzzled. What's happened to him? He sounds like a completely different person.
"Well, what about my little sister then? She's been waiting for you and..." Jeff said matter-of-factly.
The smile on Nathalia's face disappeared instantly, and she looked at Spencer icily. Huh! Another one?! Has he got a girlfriend or ex-girlfriend everywhere in the world? Though she knew that it was the past and she had promised him that she would not talk about the past anymore, she couldn't help feeling jealous.
"I'm married now. Don't talk to me about your sister..." Spencer cut him short. What a great friend you are, Jeff! He thought sarcastically.
Seeing Nathalia's cold look, Spencer explained anxiously, "Nathalia, babe, there's nothing between Jeff's sister and me, I swear. You trust me, don't you? You know I would never get involved with my friend's sisters." It was true. Spencer followed certain principles when dating a woman. He did not allow himself to get involved with his staff or his friends' sisters.
Nathalia believed him. He never lied to her, and there was no need to lie. Yet, she responded playfully, "Is that so?"

Spencer regretted his past as a playboy, but there was nothing he could do about it. It was the past. "If I've done it, I'll admit it. You know what I'm like, don't you? I never lie to you." He was almost pleading.
Nathalia pouted her lips and looked away. "I don't like your past. It's annoying just to think about it."
Spencer felt upset as well as pleased, thinking that Nathalia, though proud, was jealous because she loved him. He turned her chin gently, so she had to look at him. "Babe, I'm yours now, and yours only. Please, can you forgive me for my past? We just got married. We should be happy." He kissed her pouty lips.
Jeff stared with his eyes wide open. What the hell? This can't be real! He rubbed his eyes a few times. He's not Spencer, well, not the Spencer I know! He's apologizing to this girl?! That's impossible! My god.
"Seriously, what's happened to you? Are you possessed by some kind of spirit or aliens?" Jeff exclaimed and couldn't help extending his hand out to touch Spencer's hair, but was stopped halfway. Spencer slapped his hand and snapped, "You know I hate people touching my hair."
"Ouch!" Jeff exclaimed, "alright, you Are Spencer."
Nathalia giggled. "Hahaha, he's so funny. He looks more like a stand-up comedian than the owner of a casino."
Funny? I'm serious. Jeff stroked his hand dramatically as if it was really painful and rolled his eyes at Nathalia, thinking, she's just like Spencer, huh, always says the wrong thing.
Seeing Nathalia laugh, Spencer heaved a sigh of relief. I knew Nathalia would not really get angry with me, phew. "Well, if his casino closes down, he doesn't need to worry about getting a new job as a comedian then." He supported Nathalia and teased.

"Hey. Enough. You two are so mean. My poor innocent heart." Jeff exclaimed, again dramatically. Nathalia couldn't help laughing out loud. His innocent heart. Hahaha. Does he really own this casino? He's like a three-year-old kid still. Though I have to say, a very good-looking one. Hahaha.
Jeff glared at Nathalia, annoyed. Is she laughing at me?! "Hey, you, do you have any idea who this man is, this man you are married to? Do you know how much money he has? He's TOO good for you." Jeff said to Nathalia scornfully.
Spencer's heart skipped a beat. Just as he was about to say something, Nathalia tapped his hand. Spencer got the message and stayed quiet and watched. To be honest, he had never met another girl as tough as Nathalia. She would never allow anyone to take advantage of her.
"Hey, you, are you a man or a woman?" Nathalia questioned with an air of authority while looking Jeff up and down.
"What?! What kind of ridiculous question is that?" Jeff was utterly confused.
Nathalia sighed deliberately, showing irritation. "The way you speak is exactly like a grumpy old lady. It's actually really irritating. I'm surprised that no one has told you before."
A grumpy old lady?! Both Jeff and Spencer were shocked.
Jeff retorted instantly, "Excuse you! I'm a very good friend of Spencer's. I definitely don't want him to make a big mistake by marrying the wrong person."
"Huh!" Nathalia rolled her eyes and replied with contempt, "You call yourself a good friend of Spencer's? I have never heard him mention you, not even once."
"Hahaha," Spencer couldn't help laughing out, seeing Nathalia's brilliant acting and response.
Jeff's face turned red, blushing terribly. "Is that so, Spencer?"
"True. Well, I didn't see the need to mention you." Spencer said casually. For sure, he would stand by his wife. Friends were friends, and there were plenty, but there was only one wife. Silly Jeff. I bet he has never met anyone like my Nathalia. Hahaha. Spencer thought, amused.
"Spencer!" Jeff couldn't believe it. He couldn't find his tongue for a little while and had to take a few deep breaths before he spoke again, "I thought we are good friends. Spencer, this is so disappointing." Then he added dramatically, "It's heartbreaking."
I've known him for years, and he never cared about any girls. I thought he would never get married. Who would have thought that he's married to this young chick! What the hell!
Nathalia shrugged her shoulders and said with a smile, "Your poor innocent heart. Don't you understand that a wife is more important than friends? I guess you haven't had the luck to fall in love yet."
Is that so? It got Jeff thinking, despite his anger and frustration. Now he had realized that Nathalia was a tough one and was careful of what he was to say.
However, he still couldn't accept the fact that Spencer was married. "Spencer, it must have been an impulsive decision, right? I just don't understand why you would marry her. What's about her?"

Ghostified City
‘Ghostified City’ is a post-dystopian sci-fi tale, set in a fading world that might be a future version of ours, running out on autopilot into oblivion. Adaman Yimmand is a simple robofactory operator in The City who's working with robots and machines every day. He doesn’t even realise that he might not have met another actual human being in years. Everything begins when he breaks his routine for once and enters a bar where he meets Evelith. This pesky other person does not let him go after he has had his -rather terrible- beer, because according to her actual humans are much rarer than he’s aware of. And from then on ‘the genie is out of the bottle and won’t get back in’, to use her words: Adaman meets more people, and gradually he has no choice but to accept that the reality of The City is not what he always thought it was, and to face the darkness of a fading humanity on the brink of self-inflicted extinction. Is there any hope left for him, and for his species? I have selected 'sexual content' and 'traumatising content' to be on the safe side, because there is a stripclub-like venue in the background of the story, and an almost-extinct humanity that has institutionalised suicide which might be disturbing to some. Apart from that it's not really a heavy 'adult' story.('Ghostified City' is my first long story in English as opposed to my native language Dutch, and an earlier version was published on my fiction blog 'Oranderra' until I stopped updating. This is a slightly altered version of the first series.)

I'll be writing randomly, attenmpting to forge a storyline from my own sweat, determination, and creativity. It's loosely based on some Wuxia/Xuanhuan fictions I've read. It will have elements of human physiology, psychology, environmental science, nature vs man, man vs nature, human nature vs humanity, etc. This story is mean to be a work of fiction. It encompasses some of my views on morality. It will have corruption, foul-language, ignorance, racism. It will glean a bright world with imagination fused with the dark shadows for some to seek refuge. Though, in the world I will be creating... Refuge comes at a cost. A steep one. That is the Way of the World. The way of my world.Need cover art plz
