The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 226

Because you care about him? Nathalia sneered at Anna's excuse. Those that use the excuse of 'real love' to hurt others are so selfish, especially the mistresses, seducing other's husbands, killing others relationships.
She thinks she's always right, and anyone that's in the way is bad. Whatever she wants, she has to get it. However, it takes, even by hurting others, by taking others' life.
I can never understand these people. To get something at the cost of hurting others.
Spencer took Nathalia's hand, and grabbed his mother's arm, led them past Anna into the building.
Anna couldn't take it anymore. She yelled after them, "Mummy, you have to separate them, or Nathalia Carter will be the death of Spencer."
Everyone froze on hearing Anna's statement. It was a horrific thing to say. Mrs. Davidson's face went pale. "How come?" She turned around and asked Anna.
"You know why Spencer got hurt? It was because of her! Those people came for her." Anna glared at Nathalia with a hateful look. "Last time, they hurt his shoulder, and this time, his head. Who knows what's next! It's all her fault!"
What Mrs. Davidson guessed was now proved right. She turned to look at Nathalia with wide-open eyes.
Spencer snapped, "Nonsense. Mum, don't listen to her. She's just jealous of us. She accused Nathalia because she can't have what we have."
How can he talk about me like that? Anna thought sadly. "That's not true. Mummy, you can ask someone to find out. It's not difficult to figure out. Every time, those people came for Nathalia, but Spencer got hurt instead. Spencer is your only son. We can't let anything happen to him, right?"
Anger started to show on Mrs. Davidson's face. However, Nathalia remained calm as usual as if it wasn't her that Anna was accusing as if it had nothing to do with her.

Anna went on boldly, "If it wasn't her, Spencer wouldn't have got hurt. There wouldn't have been so much trouble. She's a curse. She's a jinx. We need to keep her away from Spencer, or Spencer will get hurt again and again..."
That was what Mrs. Davidson worried about the most. The thought of her son getting hurt again frightened her.
Spencer realized the change on his mother's face and quickly interrupted, "Enough! Nonsense! Get her out of here."
The bodyguards obeyed and grabbed Anna's arms to drag her out. Anna screamed as she fought back, "Mummy, mummy, I just don't want Spencer to be in danger again. I'm worried about him."
Though she was finally taken away, what she said stayed in Mrs. Davidson's head.
No one said anything in the lift. When the door opened, Nathalia hesitated and said, "I will go back to my place. Enjoy dinner."
"Come into my room!" Mrs. Davidson demanded and glared at Nathalia.
"Mum..." Spencer interrupted. Every time Anna shows up, she has to cause some trouble. Why can't she just leave us alone? She should have known by now that it's impossible between she and I. Ridiculous.
Mrs. Davidson asked sternly, "Spencer, is it true? What Anna said?"
Spencer hated it, but he had to remain patient and explained, "Mum, of course, it's not true. Do you actually believe her rather than your own son?" He said clearly.
Mrs. Davidson had already decided not to argue with Spencer as he would just protect Nathalia.
Later that night, Spencer gave his mother a hug and said cheerfully, "Mum, your son is blessed and protected. Don't you worry? I will be safe."
"You know you are my only son, and all I want is that you are safe." Mrs. Davidson seemed to be convinced after Spencer sweet-talked her for quite a while. Seeing that his mother had fallen asleep, he heaved a sigh of relief and went to Nathalia's.

Though he had a key, he rang the bell. It was as if Nathalia had been waiting right by the door as she opened it straight away.
She looked worried. "Spencer, how's your mum? I..." It's normal how she reacted. Every mother that cares about their children would have reacted the same.
She didn't have the right to complain, and she didn't. It was more guilt that she felt. Though what Anna said was terrifying, she did have a point, which was that Nathalia had contributed to Spencer's injuries.
Spencer interrupted Nathalia by putting his hand on her mouth. He looked at her affectionately and said gently, "I understand, babe. Don't think too much. It's not your fault. Don't blame yourself. I wanted to protect you, and I will always do."
He took it as his duty to help carry her weight, her pressure, to protect her, because she was his girl, his love.
Moved, Nathalia leaned into Spencer's arms and buried her head on his chest, "Spencer, I feel loved. Thank you." Her voice was so gentle that it caressed Spencer's heart like a spring breeze. He planted a kiss on her head, then the corners of her eyes, her cheeks, her nose, her lips... Both hearts started beating passionately...Nathalia moaned with pleasure...
Sophie couldn't remember how long she'd been sitting on the floor, staring at the door, until Matt came out.
As soon as she saw him, she jumped up, her face lit up, and she exclaimed, "Matt."
"What are you doing here?" Matt was taken aback. He was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans, very casual, unlike his usual uniform look.
He's lost weight. He looks tired and drawn. Sophie watched him caringly. She felt pain in her heart. "Matt, I'm really sorry about your mum. I'm worried..."
Matt frowned and cut her short, "Please leave." He said indifferently. His tone sounded so distant, even harsh. There wasn't a bit of the old affection and closeness in it.
Sophie felt hurt, but she cared more about his feelings than her own. "Please, Matt. Move on. I'm sure your mum wouldn't want to see you like this. It hurts..." She wished she knew better how to comfort him. She would do anything just to see him happy again.
The frown between Matt's brows grew heavier. He looked at Sophie's direction, but not at her, and asked, "Nathalia Carter didn't come with you?"
"Huh?" Sophie didn't know how to react at first, then she said apologetically, "She's busy and can't make it today, but she told me to send you her good wishes. She hopes you will get better soon."
It was never easy for Sophie to lie, and it brought a blush to her cheeks. She only wanted to make him feel better.
Matt looked down at the floor. He replied with a helpless sneer, "Is that so?"
Instantly, Sophie answered clearly, "It is. I swear."
Just then, the door of the lift opened, and out walked a slim figure. "Matt, who's she?" She asked jealousy, displeased at the sight of Sophie.

Eight
His name is Eight. Not really, but that’s what the System decided after a slip of the tongue. One moment, he was stepping out the office door on the way home, and the next waking up on a hillside below a town wall. Oh, and the gate guard drove him off, because he thought Eight was a monster. Life’s tough when you’re trapped in an eight-year old body on another world. The first book focuses on Eight's survival on a dangerous new world. If you're a fan of Gary Paulsen's Hatchet, you'll enjoy it. The story is one of discovery, bushcraft, and finding one's way. Note that, while this is very much LitRPG, progression is slow, and Eight spends much of the first book alone. The second book recounts what happens when Eight and friends head east to the village of Voorhei. Expect a blend of fantasy adventure, ghost story, cozy mystery, and family drama. Books one and two make a complete story, while book 3 has just gotten underway.
