The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 217

Ben looked displeased and deep in thought.
Whatever others thought or did have no influence on the couple in the middle of the crowd, Spencer went on, his voice slightly trembling, "I've once hurt you, and I could have done better. I can't change the past, but I promise I will be the best man for you for the rest of my life. I will love you and protect you till the end of time. Nathalia, will you marry me?"
When Spencer used to see men proposing to girls, he would find it cheesy and even disdainful, but now that he was experiencing it himself, he realized, though silly, how beautiful it was. He would do what normal couples do, however cheesy it would be, with her happily.
Tears of joy ran down Nathalia's cheeks. She was only joking when she said the proposal he made at the jewelry shop wasn't formal. Never had she thought he would take it seriously and arrange such a surprise? To have someone that loved her so much, she felt extremely blessed.
The crowd was so excited that everyone watched quietly, hoping not to miss a single moment. This is the real show-off tonight. Forget about the inauguration ceremony. This is the real highlight!
"Spencer is proposing in public!"
"My god. This is so beautiful."
Someone murmured.
Suddenly, someone shouted out excitedly, "Say yes!"
"Say, yes. Say, yes!" Others chorused.
Nathalia's heart was beating so fast that she could feel its pounding. "Will you love me all your life?" she asked, her voice quivering.
Spencer was taken aback a bit. He hesitated for a few seconds before he answered, "Nathalia, I will do the best I can to love you, take care of you and protect you. I used to only think about myself, and I didn't understand how to love. You changed me. We've been through so much joy and pain, thick and thin. I know I can never love anyone else as I love you. You are and will be the only one that I love truly."

She was the only one. His only. She was the bravest girl he had ever known, the girl that touched his heart. He knew she was the best to walk this planet with.
"I hope this is formal enough." He said with a wink. Nathalia smiled.
"I hope this will be a beautiful memory that stays forever, that every time you recall in the future, the future of us, you will never regret."
His words were true and sincere; his voice seemed steadier, yet if one looked closer, one would notice that he was actually shaking slightly. He was nervous and anxious.
It felt like a giant hand was grabbing Nathalia's heart, trying to steady its beating, yet only making it race faster. She took the roses from his hands, and in a quivering voice, she said, "Yes."
Whatever happens in the future, I can at least make this moment real and keep it forever. I've never felt so happy before.
Spencer heaved a sigh of relief, stood up, and embraced her in his arms. There were tears in his eyes.
Applause and cheers thundered from the crowd. A few were bitter; some were jealous; some were disappointed, but most were excited.
"Aww, so beautiful. Real love does exist."
"Even Spencer Davidson is truly in love. Now I have faith in love again."
Bang!
Everyone looked up. A firework exploded in the sky, shattering into thousands of sparks, showering down, glittering.
"Wow!"
"Beautiful!" Everyone exclaimed.
Bang. Bang. Bang. The sky was lit up in glittering, colorful lights. Nathalia's face lit up, sparkles in her eyes. "It's..."
"It's a present for you," Spencer said with a smile.
"You once told me that you love fireworks, that even though they disappear as quickly as they appear, they display such brilliance that it lights up the whole sky, and one can't forget its light," Spencer said gently.

Nathalia responded with a smile. Her eyes showed immense joy. I'm glad he remembers what I said. Spencer embraced her closer, she is everything to me.
"From now on, we will have fireworks on your birthday every year. How do you like that?"
Tears in her eyes, Nathalia stood on her tiptoes and planted a kiss on Spencer's lips. "I love it. I think it's a brilliant idea." She said with a delightful smile.
"Happy birthday, my princess." He returned with a passionate French kiss.
It was Nathalia's twentieth birthday. The day that would possibly change her whole life.
Nathalia accepted his kiss with desire and love, her hand around his neck, her tongue searching and playing with his.
"This is the best birthday present I've ever got. Thank you. I love you." Nathalia said with a blush when their lips finally parted.
She'd been hoping, expecting since she woke up this morning, but Spencer had been so quiet and acted as if he had forgotten about it.
Meanwhile, she had too much in her mind anyway and didn't think much about her birthday. It was an incredible surprise. She didn't suspect anything at all.
"I'm glad you like it." Seeing her delightful face, Spencer couldn't help smiling brightly.
Just then, Nathalia's phone rang. She saw the name on the screen, a bit surprised, and glanced at Spencer. Spencer took a look and frowned.
"Hello, Matt," Nathalia answered casually. Matt seemed to have disappeared since the incident. They had not seen each other since, not even a phone call.
Nathalia felt a bit awkward, knowing that Spencer would be upset, but also that Matt would not normally call if he didn't have to.
"Happy birthday, Nathalia," Matt said gently.
Nathalia was a bit surprised. "Thank you. And congratulations. I mean, the engagement."
"Just rumors..." Matt said hastily. He paused for a second before he spoke again, "Is my mum there? Is Spencer upset?"
Nathalia could sense the pain and helplessness in his voice. She tried to comfort him by saying, "It's my birthday, so he's not so bothered."
Matt seemed to feel a bit more relieved. "I will come soon. See you in a bit."
Nathalia smiled cheekily at Spencer after the phone call. "Why? Are you jealous?"
"Why do you still talk to him?" Spencer sulked. "I'm going to delete his number on your phone."
Nathalia shrugged her shoulders and handed him her phone. Just a jealous little boy. Nathalia thought and giggled.
It brought a blush on Spencer's cheeks. "Don't laugh at me. If you contact him again, I will..."
"What will you do?" Nathalia teased, knowing that he never really got angry with her. And normally, when he got upset, they usually ended up in bed, and everything else was forgotten.
"I will beat him up for harassing my girl. Huh." Spencer said with exaggerating pride. His serious face made Nathalia giggle even louder.
"Alright. Alright, my prince. I need to use the bathroom. I will be back soon."

Ætla Verǫld
AV Online was just a flash in the pan—a harsh, experimental land which lost most of its players in mere weeks. Only the dedicated few remained, carving out their destinies in corners of the vast abandoned world. Lily Quinn wasn't one of them. With a career worth millions in the esports world, she didn't have time for a game like Avo—but when an exclusive beta test for the new version showed up on her doorstep, she couldn't say no… as much as she wanted to. Literally hooked into the simulation, Lily reluctantly entered a world beyond anything she'd ever dreamed of. Accompanied by seven other beta testers desperate to save their beloved game, Lily dives into a vibrant, beautiful world, where mystery and adventure waits around every corner. Despite her reservations, Lily finds a joyful escape in Avo, shattering her cold, hollow reality. It was just a game though… until the group discovered they couldn't log out. Trapped in a game with no rules, and surrounded by cutthroat players eager to kill for a quick windfall, Lily and her ragged band have no choice but to fight their way out, or die in a game that has turned all too real. Hi there! I'm setting off on yet another adventure, come join me :3 Unusually for me, there's only one perspective this time, and it's quite a bit more action-oriented than I usually write. Don't worry, though: everything's still as character-driven as always, and I never get tired of writing dialogue. Just to acknowledge it up front: this story is heavily inspired by EVE Online and the many stories generated by that world. However, since this is a fantasy setting, not sci-fi, don't expect any real parallels. Chapter publish rate for this one will be whenever I write them, as with Epilogue. I don't expect to move as fast here though, since it's not for NaNo. The plan is chapters somewhere in the 4k-5k range, and hopefully frequently. The Last Science takes priority as always though. Special thanks to Reaver and Ace Arriande for pushing me to get this going, and to all my fellow writers whom I've stolen from been inspired by. You're all wonderful people and I love you Quick reminder: Patrons get to read ahead of what's published! Also, try my other works: The Last Science — A Tale of Modern Magic Epilogue — A Post-Fantasy Psychodrama What are you still doing on the synopsis? Get to reading!
