The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 204

Everyone burst out laughing, and it brought a blush of embarrassment and anger on the woman's face.
She pointed at the ruby necklace around her neck and announced, "I'm Wendy Allen. Don't you remember me? You gave me this necklace, bought from here, this shop. We were so in love..." She recalled tenderly, saying how much they used to care about each other, how much she had missed him as if she was truly in love with Spencer.
Nathalia was speechless. If I remember correctly, she's Wendy Allen, the girl Spencer was with when I first met him here, and the necklace was a gesture of Spencer dumping her. She could remember the scene vividly still and thus recognized Wendy straight away.
Why the hell is she acting like this? Like she and Spencer were a real couple. What about Steve then? Poor Steve.
Steve had the same face as Nathalia. Even though I'm not serious with this girl, she didn't have to insult me in public like this. What the hell. Am I really not as charming as Spencer?
Spencer finally remember who the woman was, but still found her name unfamiliar. He looked at Nathalia awkwardly and coughed a little. He said to Wendy, "Sorry. I've forgotten.", then turned to Nathalia, "Nathalia, you know I've never seen her again after we separated." I just knew we shouldn't come to this shop. See. I was right. He thought to himself.
Wendy had only seen and was used to the cold and indifferent Spencer. She was surprised to see how gently he talked to a girl.
"I guess you have replaced me with a new girl, Spencer." Wendy gazed at Spencer in disbelief. Then she recognized Nathalia and exclaimed, "Wait, isn't this the same girl? Are you two serious? You are still with her?", with a finger pointed at Nathalia.

Wendy had been working on a new movie in Europe and only returned to the States yesterday, with no idea what had been happening in Miami.
Spencer retorted, "This is my fiancée. Please watch your manner." How dare she point at my Nathalia like that! He thought angrily.
His fiancée?! Everyone gasped. All were shocked and curious, but no one dared to question except Steve.
"Serious? When are you getting married?" Steve asked, failing to hide his surprise in his tone. Though he had expected that Spencer would marry Nathalia, he didn't see it coming so soon. Nathalia's still very young. It's unlikely that she will marry so young.
Spencer lifted his eyebrows and said proudly, "Very soon. As soon as Nathalia says yes, we will pick a date."
He waved his hand like a general to his soldiers and demanded, "Show us the best collection you have in the shop." The manager replied courteously, "No problem. Please come to the VIP room."
It was the first time Nathalia had been in the VIP room. It displayed the best of the best jewelry worldwide, incredibly beautiful, yet Nathalia didn't seem very interested in them. She had a look and thought they are very extravagant and too resplendent, not really Mrs. Davidson's style.
Spencer, however, was checking attentively, which was rare to see. The manager noticed and quickly took out a delicate red box from the safe. When he opened the box, a radiant light lit up the whole room.
"Here is the most precious. It's the latest design. There are only three in the world. The other two have been purchased by the princess of the UK and the princess of Saudi Arabia. This is the only one left, and of course, only someone like Miss Nathalia Carter deserves it." The manager said proudly.

It's a stunning necklace, with a pendant in the shape of a lotus flower and a small delicate gold chain. With a pink star diamond in the middle of the lotus pendant, surrounded by smaller petal-shaped diamonds, it was a real eye-catcher.
Nathalia gazed at it, amazed by its beauty. As she was about to pick it up, a hand grabbed it quickly from behind her.
"Wow. This is beautiful! Steve, I love it!" Wendy exclaimed, staring at the necklace, her eyes sparkling. Nathalia had no idea when she came in.
Spencer frowned at the sight of Wendy. He was obviously irritated. The manager spoke first, with an awkward look on his face, "Miss Wendy Allen, can you please let Miss Carter have a look first? She..." Can't she tell that Mr. Davidson is annoyed?
Wendy then remembered the presence of Nathalia and Spencer. "Why? Are you worried that I can't afford it?" She retorted with a pout. Then turned to Steve with a flirtatious look, "Steve, what do you think? Do you like it? Isn't it beautiful?" Feeling that Spencer had embarrassed her earlier, she was hoping to get revenge this time.
Her provocative tone and seductive smile could easily make any man fall for her, however, Steve took the necklace off her hand, put it back in the box, and said indifferently, "It doesn't suit you."
Wendy was shocked by Steven's reaction. He was on fire in bed last night, and now he's acting like a stranger to me!
"Didn't you say you would even take me to the moon if I want? Now you won't even get me a necklace." She retorted, then remembered how she had embarrassed Steve just now and regretted it terribly. Shit. I need to make it up.
Nathalia couldn't help giggling. "Ha. Do you actually believe Steve would take you to the moon? Hahaha. Men's words are usually just words."
Of course, Wendy had learned from her experience with various men long ago that men's sweet talks in bed were not to be trusted, but she still acted like she had been hurt, looking pitiful. No wonder she was an actress.
Steve and Spencer exchanged a look of helplessness. Men's words are just words?
Wendy blushed awkwardly. "What do you mean? Are you saying that you don't trust Spencer, either? Why the hell are you with him then?" She provoked smartly, proud of herself.
Spencer put his arm around Nathalia's waist, and with a content smile, he said, "Because I insist. My Nathalia didn't even want me initially, but I've won her over with my persistence. Haha."
Everyone gasped. Is this Spencer Davidson?
Even Steve was shocked to see how Spencer behaved. Who would have thought our cool and indifferent Spencer is now so madly in love that he would even run himself down, and so proudly?! Goosebumps covered Steve's arms as he thought.
Somehow he recalled a sentence he read in a book. "I've become more and more insignificant since I met you, insignificant like dust, but my heart is filled with joy, and a garden has blossomed in it."
Wendy was the most astonished. "What's happened to you, Spencer?" She exclaimed. "You've really changed." He was so cold to me and any woman he'd been with. Did I hear him right? I can't believe he just said that!
Spencer paid no attention to anyone but Nathalia. All he could see was the sweet smile on Nathalia's face.

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.
