The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 199

Then he thought of something and made a call. "Do a DNA test on the corpse." He demanded on the phone.
"Are you thinking it's Frank Carter?" Nathalia seemed to read Spencer's mind and asked tentatively.
Spencer knitted his brows. He couldn't relax till he found out who it was. The question haunted him. "It's possible. I have a feeling that he can't die so easily."
Nathalia shared his thoughts. Someone like Frank Carter, who had survived so many battles, who was as cunning as a fox, would not have the thought of killing himself.
"Have someone watch Anne Carter and her daughter and son, especially Zack," Nathalia suggested. She knew Frank Carter well enough to know how much he cared about his son.
Spencer agreed. He had thought about it before Nathalia said anything. "Will do."
Nathalia turned around. She stroked his shoulder gently. "Does it hurt? Silly Spencer, you should have protected yourself." He chose to protect her, to guard her with his own body even though he might get killed.
To have someone that loved her so much, she felt touched and grateful. It brought so much joy, and it was so intense that it hurt.
Spencer stroked her cheeks, the touch of his fingertips light like feathers. "It doesn't hurt. Don't worry. I didn't think at all. It was just instinct." It was his instinct to protect her from any harm.
Tears filled Nathalia's eyes, "Spencer, promise me that you will protect yourself..."
The realization that she was so loved by God just hit her. She had survived death again, and she had the man who loved her, who would even die for her.
I will feel no more fear. I will not be scared of losing anymore. All I want is to love him and share this life with him.

Tears of joy ran down her cheeks. Spencer wiped them off gently. "If I had to choose again, I would do the same. To me, you are more important than my own life, so you have to stay safe for me."
Nathalia buried her head in his chest like a little kitten. "I will. Spencer, you are the most important person in my life. The most important. You have to promise me that you will take care of yourself too." She said earnestly and affectionately.
"I promise you."
The lovely couple reclined on the bed, cuddling, a content smile on their faces. When Nathalia turned to look at Spencer again, he had fallen asleep. His breathing even and relaxed, yet there was still a frown between his brows. She stroked them gently to brush his worries away. He's carrying so much on him, more than myself.
As soon as Matt heard what had happened, he located Nathalia and came straight from work. When he rushed into Nathalia's room, he looked terribly worried. "Nathalia, how are you?" She must have been frightened. Who did such a horrible thing to her?
However, to his surprise, Nathalia was calm as usual. "I'm good, Matt. Thanks for coming to see me." She answered with a smile, the same bright smile, just as how he remembered her.
Matt felt a bit relieved, seeing her smiley face again, but he couldn't fight off the worries in his head. "Nathalia, I, I have been so worried. I couldn't..." He stuttered and swallowed the last few words. I couldn't imagine life without you.
There was a knock at the door and Spencer walked. He frowned at the sight of Matt and mocked, "How kind you are, officer, taking time off your busy schedule to see my Nathalia! However, shouldn't you be spending your time investigating the case?"

Father, property, and even girlfriend. Why does he have to fight with me for everything? Can't he just disappear from my sight? Spencer thought, sulking.
As soon as he heard the case mentioned, Matt's face turned serious. He replied solemnly, "I'm working on it. I believe we will find something out soon."
"Has it not been confirmed yet? His identity?" Nathalia asked, a bit surprised at the slow progression. It seems much more complicated than I thought. It shouldn't be so difficult nowadays to find out who someone is. It's been a few days, but we still haven't even found out who he was.
"Soon..." Matt felt disappointed and uneasy. He had volunteered to take over the case and been working hard on it. There hadn't been much progress due to the lack of clues and information, but he was determined to get an answer. He had to find out to ensure that Nathalia would be safe.
Spencer sneered dismissively, "Ha. Soon? How soon? Three days? A month? Or a year? I would not count on you, but anyway, spend your time on your work instead of caring too much about someone else's girlfriend, please."
Spencer himself had also hired a world-renowned detective to investigate. It was believed that there would be an answer soon.
The mockery in his words and tone was obvious. Matt wasn't pleased to hear it, but he remained quiet. Nathalia didn't like Spencer's comment. She interrupted, "Spencer, please don't talk like that."
Why is he so jealous? There's nothing between Matt and me that have helped me a lot.
Spencer threw an angry look at Nathalia. "Why? Did I say anything improper?" The more bitter Spencer sounded, the more apologetic Nathalia felt for Matt.
"Take no notice of him, Matt. Spencer's been a bit hot-tempered lately. I apologize." She said comfortingly to Matt.
Matt understood whom Nathalia was closer to. She was polite. There was no point in arguing or defending himself.
Little cheeky devil. Why is she protecting him? Spencer thought angrily. What about me, then?
"Apologize? Don't be ridiculous, Nathalia. He doesn't deserve an apology. He..." Spencer snapped.
"Spencer, enough!" Nathalia cut him short, glaring at him. Spencer realized that he had really enraged Nathalia, seeing her stern face. The jealous feeling was gone instantly, replaced by injustice.
"You are not making sense. Why are you nicer to him than to me? I'm your boyfriend." He said timidly, no more anger or disdain in his tone.
Nathalia sighed, feeling pity for Spencer and a bit guilty. "You are acting like a spoiled kid." She said, compromisingly.
Matt was surprised to see how Spencer behaved. I've never seen my brother give up so easily. They seem to be a perfect match. He felt bitter and out of place, standing between them.
Spencer knew very well that the way to get Nathalia was to compromise. He begged gently, feeling or pretending to be sorry for himself, "I'm your boyfriend. You should be nice to me."
"Ouch!" He suddenly exclaimed and put his hand on the wound on his shoulder, looking in pain.
"What happened? Is it hurting?" Nathalia quickly beckoned him over and had him sit next to him. "What did the doctor say? Shall I call the doctor?" she asked worriedly.
