The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 182

The sun was setting. Nathalia had just finished her last class. Walking around the campus, she felt her heart heavy, and her mind troubled.
It's so strange. Things are going well, but I feel there's something wrong.
Her phone rang. She saw the name and heaved a heavy sigh.
"Nathalia, I have something to tell you. It's about your mother." It was from Frank.
"My mother. You still have the guts to talk about my mother?!" Nathalia shouted furiously. He has no right to talk about my mother, murderer!
"Don't you want to know how your mother died?"
Nathalia trembled. She couldn't believe it. "What did you say?"
"I've just parked outside the campus. Come find me if you want to know." Frank hung up.
Nathalia ran out to the gate straight away. She spotted the familiar car parked in the shade.
She knocked at the car window of the driver's seat. As soon as Frank opened the door, Nathalia questioned, "It wasn't an accident. You killed my mother, didn't you?!"
This was the question that had haunted her ever since she woke up from death. She had wanted to know the truth. Evette had mentioned it in her previous life, but she couldn't have it confirmed. She couldn't find evidence.
"Sit in the car, I'll tell you," Frank said plainly.
As soon as Nathalia was in the car, Frank started the car and drove away. "No, I didn't kill your mother. I could not have done it. She was my wife. It was..." He paused.
Nathalia was listening to tentatively, nervously. "It was what?!" She snapped impatiently.
Frank sighed as if he had a lot in his mind. After a little while, he said, "We will talk somewhere else. I don't want to be talking about it while driving. It's too heavy."

Nathalia took a few deep breaths to calm herself down. She waited quietly though her mind was everywhere. Guesses of various scenarios kept popping up in her head.
Frank remained silent the whole way. He took Nathalia to a five-star hotel which most famous people frequented.
Looking around the fancy décor, Nathalia felt that something was not right. Yet, before she questioned Frank, Frank said, "It was Anne. She put poison in your mother's drink. She died slowly. I only found out recently. I had not expected it at all. I've been with Anne for over ten years, but I never knew it was her. It's frightening..."
Tears filled Nathalia's eyes as she listened and pictured how her mother died. "She died slowly..." She repeated. Her heart ached. "But how? How did Anne do it?"
Frank led Nathalia into the lift, and he pressed the button of the 18th floor. "She paid one of the servants..." Frank acted emotionally as he talked about the past as if he was truly upset.
"I feel so remorseful. Why did I marry Anne? I'm going to divorce her! She's evil."
She killed my mother! I hate her. Nathalia was filled with so much anger and sadness that she lost her usual cautiousness. She followed Frank automatically to a presidential suite. Frank opened the door and said in a serious tone, "I've got some evidence here to show you."
Nathalia walked in without thinking. Then, 'Bang', the door closed behind her, and the sound awakened her. She quickly turned around and realized that Frank had locked her in. "Frank Carter! Open the door! What the hell are you doing?!" She hammered at the door and shouted furiously.
How could I have fallen into his trap?! Stupid me. Nathalia thought regretfully.

"I've raised you up, and now it's your time to pay me back finally. Don't blame me. It's your own fault. You are too naïve." Frank yelled back, triumphantly.
Nathalia heard him walk away. "Frank Carter! Huh! I'll get revenge!" She kicked the door hard as she shouted angrily.
"Calm yourself down." Someone said behind Nathalia.
Nathalia's body froze for a few seconds, and subconsciously her hand reached her pocket for her phone but only to find it empty. Shit, I left my phone in the car! Shit. Shit. She panicked, then reminded herself, it's ok. Calm down, Nathalia. You are fine.
She took a deep breath, plucked up her courage, and turned around to see a tall figure standing by the window, his back facing her. "Who are you?" She tried to sound as calm as possible. I need to be calm to save myself. She kept reminding herself.
The man turned around. Nathalia gasped.
"Curt Davidson. You. You and Frank Carter planned this?!" She could partly guess what the two were planning but still couldn't believe that they would actually do it as they were very different people.
Curt had his hands in his pockets, looking at Nathalia half mockingly, half threateningly. Nathalia's heart was beating fast. She was trying to think and calm herself down at the same time, but she managed not to show her emotions.
"Curt Davidson, let's make a deal," Nathalia said with a smile on her face. She looked indifferent, even confident, completely out of Curt's expectation. His curiosity was aroused.
"A deal?" He asked doubtfully while thinking, shouldn't she be screaming in fear or crying and begging instead?
"Yes. If you let me go now, I will give you the shares of Carter's Company." Nathalia looked at him, calmly and said. Though money is important, dignity means more. I can make money back, but I can't allow myself to be assaulted.
Her offer surprised Curt. He lifted his eyebrows, smiled, and said, "I have more than enough money. That's not a deal good enough for me."
Nathalia recognized the expression on Curt's face. Like father, like son. They even shared the same facial expression. She could see Spencer on Curt's face.
Nathalia's mind was working fast, and suddenly she came up with an idea. She changed her strategy.
She took her time and sat herself down on the sofa before she asked confidently, "The other night, you were visiting my mother's gravestone in the middle of the night. Why?"
Startled, Frank knitted his brows. "I've told you. I was just taking a walk." She's quick, witty, and brave. She doesn't seem to be worried at all. Impressive. Curt thought.
"Are you a ghost?" Nathalia sneered. Does he actually expect me to believe him?
Curt sensed the change in Nathalia's attitude. She had turned more self-assured than scared. And he suddenly understood why his son would fall in love with her.
"Aren't you the one begging me to let you go? Better watch your tone. If you ask nicely, I might give you a chance." Curt reminded her. If he was twenty years younger, he might have found Nathalia attractive too.

Chaos uploaded
At year 2100, there was a new game that was being developed: "Realms of chaos" With cutting edge technology, realistic physics(At least, as far as fantasy-medieval worlds goes), and immersion to the point one could believe it was real, it is destined to become world-wide famous. Two siblings, Nysa and Inas, received the right of beta-testing the game, along with other players...although with the beta-test, many difficulties came together with it: Unfair enemies, lack of clues, lack of linear paths, and above all, no set of rules of how one should play. Nysa, being the less competitive out of the two siblings, has decided to play the game just for fun.But little does she knows how much the action of a single player, who just wants to explore and have fun, can change the realm of chaos. This is my first story, and I'll upload whenever I manage to get through the writers' block.Due to college starting, uploads might be erratic. Feel free to review and comment!
