The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 153

Nathalia had almost forgotten about Anna, the girl who had addressed Mrs. Davidson as a mother for over a decade. They were as close as a family; thus, Anna was the perfect one to sign her name.
Anna froze for a second, and quickly she refused, "No, I can't. I'm, well, I'm not her biological daughter. I just call her mummy, but I'm not her real daughter."
Seriously?! Did she actually say she's not her real daughter?! I can't believe it. Nathalia thought furiously.
The doctor looked at Anna, then at Nathalia, then at the operating room and grew more and more anxious. "Please decide quickly. Every second count."
If the patient died in our hospital, it would do us no good at all! The doctor thought anxiously.
Nathalia closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and when she opened her eyes again, determination shone in them. She grabbed the paper and said, "I will sign it, and I will take full responsibility. Please, doctor, do the best you can. Save her.
Her courage and resolution impressed everyone. She didn't have to get involved at all. She could simply walk away, and even if the patient died, no one could blame her. However, she chose to take responsibility at the most crucial moment.
The doctors even felt ashamed of themselves while thinking this girl is brave, courageous, and loving!
Now Anna felt a sudden attack of jealousy. She wanted to snap the paper from Nathalia, "Nathalia Carter, you can't sign it. Doctor, she's just a stranger. She..."
Slap. Nathalia couldn't help throwing her palm at Anna's cheek. She had never hated Anna or found her evil. She had only thought of Anna as a spoiled girl, but with no mean intention. However, this time, Anna's selfishness and weakness were appalling.
She doesn't want to take responsibility, yet she doesn't allow others to do it either. What the hell is she thinking about?! How can someone be so selfish?!

Anna held her burning cheek with her hand and yelled, "You slapped me again! How dare you?!" I'm going to sue you! You will be punished!"
Nathalia ignored her and signed her name carefully. Nathalia Carter. Clear and beautiful.
The doctor took the paper, turned around, and was about to go into the operating room, yet again, Anna stretched her hand out to snap the paper away.
Nathalia lifted her chin to indicate Mrs. Davidson's bodyguard to stop Anna.
"Anna, you've been calling Mrs. Davidson mum for years, but you refused to sign the paper, and you are just watching her life slide away. I've never met anyone as selfish as you. You say you love her, but you won't even take any responsibility! You don't deserve anyone's love or respect."
Fury flared up in Anna's eyes as she watched the door of the operating room shut. "Nathalia Carter, you will regret it."
Nathalia was suffering from a terrible headache and had no patience for someone who made no sense at all. She sat herself down on the chair outside the operating room and waited quietly, yet anxiously.
The clock ticked away, and the day became night. Everyone waited with a heavy heart. Nathalia was grabbing her phone tight, checking the time every few minutes. Every second was torture.
Please live. Please! Don't die! She prayed. Think about your son. You have to live for him.
It was one of the longest nights ever. The wind was blowing, and the air grew colder and colder as the night stretched longer. It was meant to be a sleepless night.
Suddenly the door opened, and a nurse came out. Everyone bounced up from their seat. Instantly, Nathalia asked the question in everyone's mind, "How is she?"
The nurse didn't look very positive, her lips pale. "It's not going very well. The patient was hit in the head, and she has lost a lot of blood. We don't have AB- blood in stock. Though we're asking other hospitals now, we might run out of time before we get an answer..."

Before the nurse could finish her words, Nathalia cut in anxiously, "Mine is B positive. Can I give her mine?"
The nurse shook her head. Instantly, Nathalia suggested that everyone had their blood type-checked, including Anna. When the result was out, the nurse announced that only Anna's blood type matched, and she was healthy and strong enough to donate blood.
Relieved, Nathalia sighed and thought, perhaps this is fate. As long as we can save her, nothing else matters now.
To everyone's surprise, Anna shook her head in disapproval fiercely and muttered, "I'm...I'm scared. I'm not very strong. I'm scared of blood. I will faint at the sight of it, and..." She blushed in embarrassment. Then suddenly, she pointed the finger at Nathalia and said, "What about her? She's brave. She can donate her blood."
The nurse was speechless but managed to explain with patience, "Her blood doesn't match, and she's underweight to donate blood anyway. Even if it was the right blood, we would not suggest her do it."
Everyone exchanged looks, wanted to say something, but dared not to speak up. Nathalia had totally given up on Anna. She's the most selfish of the selfish. All she thinks about is herself. Impatiently, she questioned, "Will you do it or not?!"
She was even thinking of knocking Anna out to force her to do it, but she gave up the idea at the sight of the bodyguard standing next to Anna.
"I want to, but I..." Anna was feeling fidgeted and couldn't make up her mind. This is too scary. I don't like hospitals, and I hate needles!
The nurse couldn't wait any longer, "Miss, this is about saving a life! Please." For God's sake, we are only asking her to donate some blood. We are not asking her for her life. It will only take a few minutes. Why is she making it such a big deal?
Just then, Anna seemed to come up with something, and she said to Nathalia, "Nathalia Carter, I have something to talk to you about first." It almost sent Nathalia throwing her fists at Anna. What the hell is she thinking? What does she want now? Poor Mrs. Davidson has been treating her like her own daughter, has loved her and spoiled her, but now, what is she doing?!
"Shoot. We don't have much time." Nathalia snapped.
Anna looked around, knitted her brows, and replied coldly, "I will donate my blood if you promise me one thing."
Who are you to ask for a promise now?! Nathalia was furiously frustrated. However, she didn't allow her emotion to take control, and she swallowed her anger, "Tell me."
Anna looked at Nathalia with icy eyes, "Leave Spencer, with no explanations. Can you do it?"
Shocked, Nathalia felt like she had never ever known this girl standing in front of her. She's so cold.
"She's always treated you like her own daughter. How can you be so selfish?" Nathalia said hopelessly. For the sake of possessing a man, she's not even human anymore. This kind of love is terrifying.
Anna knew she had got Nathalia and a victorious smile appeared on her face. "I don't care. Tell me, can you do it or not?"
Ever since she was taken home and forced to stay in, she had changed her mind. She couldn't sleep, thinking that she had been betrayed. She felt as if she was kept in hell, and the pain was too much to endure. Ever since then, she had sworn to herself that she had to have Spencer at whatever cost.

When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.
