The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 145

Spencer's words reached Nathalia's heart, and the soul touched them and caressed them. It was just a simple sentence, but it was genuine and true. It was sweeter than honey.
Curt sneered, "You believe her? Have you lost your mind? Women are all evil."
Spencer snapped angrily, "You don't know her at all. She's never after money or fame. Nothing material can tempt or touch her."
Somehow Curt was taken aback by what Spencer said, he contemplated it and thought. She is different, or why do both of my sons fall for her?
"What about revenge, then?" Curt tempted.
Nathalia frowned slightly, looked at Curt with steady eyes, and said plainly, "I'd rather do it on my own. Mr. old grumpy, you know, sometimes, money and power don't mean anything."
Curt took a good look at Nathalia and thought, she's very lively and cheerful, confident and self-assured, very attractive. She's not like her. Not at all.
"Aha, alright. You are brave. So you want to play games with me. Aren't you scared at all?" He threatened.
On hearing so, Spencer's face turned stern and serious. He stepped forward, stood in between Nathalia and Curt, his eyes fixed on Curt's, and said, "Dad, if you ever hurt Nathalia, I will ruin the Davidson Group. Everything you've built and all the effort you've made in the past decades will turn into nothing."
Now that he doesn't care about his wife or children, or to be exact, he doesn't care about anybody, then the worst and the best threat to him is to destroy what he's proud of the most.
Curt didn't expect Spencer would talk to him like that, and it angered him tremendously, "What has your mum turned you to be? Disrespectful!"
As soon as Spencer heard his mum mentioned, he snapped. "Don't you talk to me about my mum. You are nobody to speak about my mum." He pointed his finger at Curt, yelling and cursing.

It startled Nathalia, and instantly, she hugged him tight, "Spencer, Spencer, don't listen to him. Remember, you said he's out of his mind. He's not worth it."
"Don't you talk to me like that! I'm your father..." An aggressive battle started between the father and son. Suddenly, bang, the door slammed open, and Matt stormed in. "Nathalia, are you ok? Are you hurt?" he asked anxiously.
The argument paused due to the sudden intruder. Nathalia was surprised to see Matt. How did he know?
At the sight of Matt, Spencer grabbed Nathalia's hand tighter as if she might get taken away from him. "I can take good care of my girl. It's none of your business."
It was chaotic enough, and Nathalia didn't want any more complications. "Spencer, please don't talk like that. Matt is just kind."
Anger grew with jealousy, and Spencer commented sulkily, "Who knows what he's plotting? Some people pretend to be kind because they want something from you. Let me take you home." Spencer just wanted Matt to be away from Nathalia as far as possible. He led Nathalia away with his arm around her shoulder. When they got to the door, he suddenly stopped and said, "Dad, don't repeat the same mistake, or you will regret it."
Curt's face turned red with anger. He's too wild. Too stubborn and arrogant, just like his grandpa.
Matt took a look at the file on the table, and a bitter smile appeared on his face. "Dad, what's the point of this? Anyone but Nathalia, ok?" He didn't want to know how many women his father had. He didn't have the right nor the heart to care. But he would never allow anyone to insult Nathalia.
Curt stared at Matt, pondered. There wasn't anger on his face. "What if I insist?"
Matt frowned and said seriously, "Then you will lose both of your sons. Is that a reason good enough to stop you?"

Compared to Spencer, Matt appeared much calmer, but he stood his ground as firmly as Spencer, concerning Nathalia. She's innocent. She's pure. She's gentle. She's everything. I will not allow any harm to come to her.
Curt let out a helpless and exhausted sigh. "What's good about her? Why are both of you so crazy about her?"
Matt could sense that his father had compromised, and he felt a bit more relieved. "Nathalia is just Nathalia, but she's touched my heart. I love her."
Half-forgotten memories of someone arose in Curt's mind, and it brought a sense of bitterness. He could still see the shape of her figure. "There are many nice women around. I can easily find you and your brother a girl that can match your level. You don't..."
These two boys have never got along well. Now it's getting even worse with this girl involved. They can have any woman they want, but why the hell do they fall for the same girl? Curt was concerned.
Matt rejected him instantly. "Dad, please don't even try. I don't want you to waste your time."
Is this karma? Curt wondered. "She's not good enough for you. She's got a bad temper. She's cunning and picky. She..."
Annoyed and irritated, Matt snapped, "Stop. Don't speak of her like that. It's me that's not good enough."
"Nonsense. You are my son. Of course..." Curt retorted angrily. Matt had always been his favorite kid. He trusted him the most. He would happily give him anything except his business. To him, Matt was the best, and he deserved the best woman.
Matt interrupted him quietly, "I'm just a secret to be ashamed of, what people call bastard. Dad, I'm asking you, seriously, not to interrupt."
It was the very first time Matt was asking his father with such genuineness. It was obvious how much he cared about Nathalia.
Curt's heart weighed heavier. It was worse than he expected. "I know what I'm doing. Go home now."
Matt was about to walk out of the door, but he thought of something and paused, "Dad, have you ever been in love? If you have truly loved someone before, you should understand how cruel it is to both Spencer and me." He said it with his back facing his father, so he didn't see the pain and bitter look on his father's face.
To make herself feel better and forget about the incident, Nathalia called Sophie and went on a shopping spree. After touring around the shopping mall for an hour or so, the two girls had got their hands full. However, Sophie had noticed that Nathalia's mind wandered away a few times.
"Nathalia, you have something in your mind? What happened?" Sophie asked worriedly.
Nathalia wanted to say something, hesitated, and swallowed her words in. It wasn't something that she could just tell people about. "No. I'm good. Let's have a look at this shop. I spotted a few dresses that I'd like to try."
Sophie replied with a helpless sigh and followed Nathalia into the shop. The girls picked a few dresses, and they all fit them perfectly. Nathalia gestured to the shop assistant to wrap up the dresses as she was fishing her purse out of her bag.
"Where's my purse?" After rummaging awhile in her bag, she still couldn't find her purse. Just then, Sophie noticed there was a cut on Nathalia's bag. "Shit. It must have been stolen. Someone's cut your bag open."
There isn't much cash in the purse, but my cards and ID. That's the problem. How annoying!
Nathalia thought.
The shop assistant asked tentatively, "Shall I keep them for you for next time?"
Nathalia waved her hand gently and said, "It's alright. Sorry about that."
Just then, a pleasant voice came from behind, "Has someone lost their wallet? A pink one. Anyone?"
