The Rise Of Nathalia Carter Chapter 94

Nathalia knew that she would work hard to pay Spencer and Steve back as long as she lived. If she died, then the Carter's would suffer, and Spencer would have his benefit.
For the first time in his life, Frank took a long and close look at Nathalia. The used-to-be familiar face seemed completely strange to him, terrifyingly strange.
Resolute, fearless, prudent, just like her grandfather, that dead bastard. Threatening.
He tried to remain calm but failed. Fury was burning inside him. "I won't compromise. Do you want to take me to court?! I dare you! You will be condemned by the world, suing your own father!"
What Frank couldn't see was that he was the one in the wrong. Once things were under his name, no one could take them from him. He was still hoping that Nathalia dared not sue him.
The shareholders stared at him in disbelief. His shamelessness was beyond anyone's comprehension.
Again, Nathalia had expected it, and she felt no disappointment nor sadness. For Sean, it was nothing new, but seeing the serenity on such a young face, he couldn't help wondering how much has she suffered to become so strong, to be able to face such cruelty at such a young age?
To fight against strangers was hard, but to fight against one's own family was another level. She had prepared herself. She had even written her will and had everything arranged if it came to the worst.
He still remembered how shocked he was when he saw the will the first time. She's giving it all. She's not scared of anything, including death. But just to destroy the Carter's? What has happened to make her do so?
Under her calm and serene appearance, an invincible, fearless heart was beating wildly. She was a mystery. She was magic.

Sean said plainly, "Mr. Carter, wait for the summons then."
Nathalia stood up, glanced around the room with a smile, then locked her eyes on Richard Smith and Nicolas Ford. "Mr. Smith and Mr. Ford, we shall go for dinner sometime soon. I might have some good news for you." She said cheerfully.
Richard had 8% of the company shares, while Nicolas had 9%, which made both of them important members of the board.
They exchanged an optimistic look and replied, "Sure."
"It will be our pleasure."
Frank watched furiously. What are you two plotting? I'm watching it! I'm the chairman here!
"I shall go now. It was a pleasure meeting you all. Please continue your meeting." Nathalia said while she scanned the astonished faces.
Is she leaving?
Is she not attending the meeting?
Everyone watched, bewildered, including Frank.
Then Nathalia stopped at the door and turned around as if she had suddenly remembered something. "By the way, I guess you are going to talk about what to do with the Seafront Land we bought earlier this year? It's a tricky one. We've lost several hundred million. It's a lot."
She dropped the bomb casually and unexpectedly. Everyone was taken aback by the sudden explosion.
"What?!"
"We've lost several hundred million?!"
"What happened to the Seafront Land?"
The Seafront Land was the biggest investment, and Frank had promised the shareholders a magnificent reward in the near future.
How does she know about it? Frank panicked, completely shocked. How did she find out? What else does she know?
Nicolas jumped up from his seat and questioned, "Wait, Nathalia, what do you mean? What happened to the Seafront Land? Please explain."
Nathalia had come prepared.
Intentionally, she reacted as if she was surprised. "Didn't you know?" she said with her eyes wide open. "The Seafront...ouch!" She exclaimed in pain.

All of a sudden, a teacup smashed at her forehead. Blood mixed in tea ran down her face and her hair. Then Frank came marching at her infuriated, his finger pointing at her face, and yelled, "Get out!"
Everyone's jaw dropped. How violently Frank reacted had implied that there was something wrong.
Nathalia ignored the blood, embraced the pain, and stared at Frank icily.
"Father, when there's a problem, solve it. That's what a chairman should do." Her words are clear and assertive, her tone cold and contemptuous. It brought a certain fear in Frank, mixed with immense anger.
Slap. Hard and quick. His hand fell on Nathalia's left cheek. Nathalia stood still, her eyes looking into his, emotionless, indifferent.
Father and daughter.
The supposed to be the two closest people.
One was fuming with anger and hate, the other cold. Who would believe that they were father and daughter? They were more like old enemies.
Nathalia's face was swollen and covered with blood, but she kept her chin up, and her pride remained. She was not to be defeated. Frank wanted to slap her again but was startled by her icy look, and his hand froze in the air.
The spectators were too shocked to speak. Silence and tension-filled the conference room. Everyone had forgotten to ask about the Seafront Land but watched the seemed to be an ever-lasting fight.
It even took Sean a little while to acknowledge what had happened. Seeing Nathalia's bloody and swollen cheeks, he glared at Frank and said angrily, "Mr. Carter, you hit my client. I'm suing you, and I'm taking you to the police."
Who knows what he would do or had done to her when no one was watching?! No wonder Nathalia Carter seems so cold and even extreme. Now I can see why she has written such a strange will.
As a father himself, Sean couldn't understand the way Frank acted. Even if he loves his second wife more and cares more about their son and daughter, there is no reason to be so brutal to the daughter with his first wife. She's still his own daughter. It seems Nathalia has expected it and that's probably why she's so calm.
Frank glared back at Sean, "How dare you!" then at Nathalia, "Nathalia, you are going to sue me? Huh?" It was more of a threat than a question.
It made no sense to the audience, the way Frank was behaving, how he addressed Nathalia as if she was a stranger to him, yet at the same time, he demanded her complete respect and obedience. To receive all and give nothing was his rule.

Hero
Kuren is just your average boy. He's just been asleep for one thousand years. Heroes and grand epics. Kuren doesn't have the time to think about things like that, nor does he really care. Join Kuren as he wanders the fantasy land of Alurca in search of his lost memories and the reasons behind his lengthy slumber. This is sort of a reboot of Anomaly, the first novel I tried to write. I gave up Anomaly after going to college. I thought about going back to it, but... when I look at it now, it's not very good. It was very edgy and not much substance behind that edge. The story wasn't quite going anywhere since I hadn't given the main character a goal. I had planned out a story, but I forgot to to plan out the details between the beginning and end. So this one's for real. Hopefully you won't be disappointed.

The Tears of Kas̆dael
It was just supposed to be a game. A really, really great game, yes - but a game. Instead, Jasper got his heart ripped out by a brooding goddess and awoke to find himself in another world. No weapons, no skills. Naked. Trapped in a world full of ancient horrors, where gods and monsters still roam the earth, Jasper is forced to adapt quickly or die - and he's not ready to die. Good thing he's a mage. This is a high-fantasy novel with light LitRPG elements. It's not super-crunchy, but the system is an important part of the story. There is some light cursing and gore, but this is not a Grimdark novel. There will also be no harem. The current schedule is chapters on M-W-F of around 2000-2500 words, as well as occasional bonus chapters that provide background or insights into side characters. This is my first real attempt at writing a full novel, but the story is based on a world that I've been creating and re-creating since I was a child. I have an extensive "history" and religion, and even a semi-cohesive language system worked out, which will hopefully slowly shine through as the story progresses. I want to avoid having too many info-dumps, so I may from time to time post a bonus lore chapter that will explain some of the background for any who are interested.
