Harry Potter: Blood Of The Dragon Chapter 163

Tom stepped into the witness box. He was in his full uniform today because today was going to be the biggest test of his acting skills. He was soon sworn in and it started.
Ted got up and started asking, "Sergeant Tom, tell me, do you have any idea why that folder of names is tampered with?"
Tom nodded and looked at the judge, "Yes, I do. After I was discharged from the hospital for the gunshot wound, I reported back to the station. There, the Inspector and Chief Inspector criticised me and told me that a departmental inquiry will be started against me because I did not inform them before proceeding to save the children.
"It is a rule that if you do not have any means to contact the station, you can proceed with caution. I was confused, I thought I would receive goodwill from my department but it was the opposite. It almost felt like an attack on my career.
"So, I decided to investigate. And in the end, it led me to a meeting room, where the Deputy Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis was meeting Crown Prosecutor Hilton."
Everyone turned to look at the Crown Prosecutor who was supposed to make sure all evidence was shown correctly and the guilty was punished accordingly. But, here it seems the story was different.
Tom continued, "So I decided to record their conversation on a recorder we use in some cases."
Ted got up, "We have submitted the audio recording, My Lord."
With a nod from the head judge, the recording was played. It was immediately obvious that the voice belonged to the Crown Prosecutor. What was worse was that they even used each other's name in it.
It played.
"Just this time, for old time's sake. Do something and get these names off the list. People are ready to pay millions for this." the Deputy Commissioner told Prosecutor Hilton.
Prosecutor Hilton replied, "It is too risky. I can't, the whole world is watching this. Besides, the prime suspect has agreed to tell everything. I can not do anything."
"5 Million pounds(£57,700,288 in today's value). You will get this much money. I'm not even asking you to take all the names out, just a few. You can retire after this or maybe run for MP elections. That suspect will not even notice the lack of names as he'll be too nervous." The Deputy Commissioner kept on coercing him.

"Fine, but I want half in advance, in cash." Prosecutor Hilton demanded.
"Sure sure, you will get that in a few hours. Trust me, with those people watching your back, you can go very high. They are truly powerful." The Deputy Commissioner happily said.
This was the end of the recording. By now, everyone was glaring at the Deputy Commissioner and the prosecutor. They couldn't even run away.
The judge came closer to the mic and ordered with an angry face but calm voice, "Metropolitan Police Department is ordered to arrest these two. They will now be treated as accomplices of the defendant.
"Further, as seen by now, the investigation and the evidence was tampered with by those who were meant to investigate the crime. So this court proceeding cannot be continued, further, the names of those who paid these two to omit their names need to be found. I also order the MI5 to create a task force and take over the investigation. This court is adjourned till next week, October 25th."
"Actually, I have another copy of that folder. I always had doubts that this might happen, knowing powerful people were involved in this." Tom spoke up.
Oscar also voiced, "And I have a secret ledger of all transactions done with these people, you still don't have that. But just to see those powerful people cry tears of blood, I'll give it to you."
"Sergeant Tom, are you still on duty?" The judge suddenly asked.
"Yes, my lord." Tom nodded.
"Then you are ordered to take a team of trusted officers and retrieve that ledger. Until then, this court is adjourned till lunch, but nobody will leave this room. All the evidence that is here will stay here. Refreshments will be given right here." the judge ordered.
...
"How many crazy big people are on that list?" Magnus asked Adrian.
"Well, too many. Some are even dictators and some heads of governments. There were also a lot of Dons and Cartel Bosses." Adrian replied, remembering a few names.
"Umm, later you read the ledger and send a few men to bring back as many lost children as possible. It will greatly help the image of MEDA. I want our name to be so famous that even some governments will start to hire us to investigate big corruption scams or international criminals for them." Magnus suggested.

Adrain smiled wryly, "That's a good plan but I'm running low on manpower. All my employees are busy with various projects. I'm afraid I'm the only available one."
"Then start hiring. But you know the drill, don't care if their feelings get hurt, but their minds must be clean. Until then, for this mission you can take some employees from Emrys Construction, I had ordered for a few of them to start training in martial magic." He suggested.
"Hehe, there's Ted too, but I guess he's stuck with a muggle company. And now his popularity will soar." Adrian talked about his school friend.
"More headaches for him then. I will go back to Hogwarts after this to play the Quidditch tournament. This whole incident took too much of my time." Magnus planned.
...
People were just talking to each other and waiting for Tom. Not just this, the whole courtroom was surrounded by a group of wizards sent from Ministry. They were making sure that nobody was able to tamper with the trial. They had by now caught a man trying to put explosives on a wall. Other than this, there had been 12 instances when someone tried to kill Oscar, but they stopped it.
At the same time, the live broadcast that was happening had become a headache for the government. Just now their Crown Prosecutor and the 2nd in command of police were found to be working for criminals. What could be worse than this? The public's trust would fall too quick if this went on.
So, the Prime Minister immediately summoned the Commissioner of Metropolitan Police.
"Commissioner, you need to do something, and if this goes on, the reputation of the Metropolitan Police will be down in shambles. You need to create a hero out of this." The Prime Minister advised him.
Commissioner Robert Mark knew where this was going, "I had the same idea, sir. I planned to enrol Sergeant Tom in the strategic command course so he can be directly promoted to the rank of Superintendent. We will publicise this news so people can calm down knowing that good officers are valued."
"Not enough, let him handle the Criminal Investigation Department. Anytime he solves a case, publicise it." the Prime Minister ordered.
This was practically a full road paved especially for Tom now. All he needed to do was solve as many cases as possible and become famous. But, for this, he was going to be taught some special investigation techniques by Adrian. After all, the ways of Aurors were superior in this case.
...
Back in the court, about 2 hours had passed. But most people there did not feel tired, as they were here for justice.
Then finally, Tom returned. With a ledger in his arms. During the time Tom was gone, another Crown Prosecutor had taken the place to resume the hearing. He was already sweating by now as people looked at him with hostility.
The Ledger and the folder with names were handed to the clerks. They were supposed to match them with the book the corrupt prosecutor provided and check which names were missing. All these were bound to be the biggest fishes.
After a while, the list was completed and it was confirmed that the Deputy Commissioner and Crown Prosecutor tampered with the evidence. Now they were as good as dead.
Then, the names were read aloud.
"U.S. Senator Jerry Prince. U.S. Senator Mason Noah. US Senator Daniel Williams. CEO of Bepis. CEO of Drof Motors. Governor of New York, Sofia Smith. MP Oliver Green. MP Duncan Matthew... Don Colosimo. Cartel Boss Francisco. Vice President of Somalia. Bishop Thomas... CEO of AAM, Ravi Patel. Marquess Addison Bancroft. Baron..."
The list was long, and all of these people were big and powerful. From holders of government positions to Nobility, Church officials and even some heads of state. Magnus had surely created a big storm.
People were just going numb to this. Some of the people named were already dead, and most of them were old men.
