Harry Potter: Blood Of The Dragon Chapter 149

"HELLO, EVERYONE!" He started. All stopped talking and turned to hear him.
"All except 1st years know me, but for the new ones, I am Magnus Grant Emrys Pendragon. I have many other names that people call me by. I was the student of the year in the previous term and scored the maximum numbers in 1st-year exams.
"So, I have a gift for all the 1st year students. I can greatly help you this year. All of you will get my handwritten notes about things to remember, as well as many shortcuts for all subjects. With this, I hope that you feel less burdened by the studies and are easily able to grasp every topic. Together, this year too, we will win the house cup." He proclaimed by raising his fist in the air.
Many neutral older students also cheered with the prospect of winning the house cup again.
All the 1st years too felt very happy and welcomed. They each took a booklet from Magnus, which will guide them for each class of 1st year, all the way till the exam. There were even some tricks to score more in the exams.
But Regulus didn't come to take it. He was stopped by the Gang of Slytherin, which was now run by Narcissa, at the behest of now-graduated Lucius.
Magnus yawned loudly, "Well, it's late now. I will go to sleep. I'm leaving the remaining booklets here, if anybody hasn't gotten one, they can pick one. Goodnight."
"GOODNIGHT," all happy 1st years replied to him.
Satisfied, he went to his dorm room. But, when it was late at night, a sudden noise woke him up. He turned around and saw it was Summer. She was pecking on the window.
"What is it, Summer?" he asked. She continued to peck.
So he went ahead and opened it for her, and she then flew out. ~Probably needed to loosen up. Ah, I'm hungry now."
He went out of his dorm room to the common room, because some food was always there. But as he arrived there, he saw Regulus, taking the booklet he had left behind.

He chuckled and walked to him without making any noise. Once behind him, he lightly voiced, "BO!"
Regulus didn't shout but eeked. His heartbeat had risen too much. He quickly looked behind and saw a chuckling Magnus.
Finally taking a sigh of relief, he said, "Brother Magnus, why did you scare me like that. What if I had shouted?"
"I think I should be the one asking you questions. What's with you? Why are you ignoring me like that, ha?" He asked.
Regulus averted his eyes. "My... I was warned not to ever talk to you, if I did then mum would find out and make me stay at home, to be homeschooled."
Magnus sighed in sadness, how could parents be so cruel in their blind faith in one flawed theory?
He put his hand on Regulus' shoulder, "Don't worry, we can always speak secretly. Besides, I will soon take over the Slytherin House, so no bullying can happen. And, you don't need to worry, if you face any problem you can't solve, just tell me and I will make them go away. I'm your big brother, after all."
"Hehe, I'm just 1 year younger than you," Regulus said.
But Magnus ruffled his hair, "I'm taller than you, and also much stronger. Go to sleep now, if you find a problem in any subject except potions, you can ask me for help."
Regulus nodded and silently returned to his room. Magnus then went back to finding something to eat.
...
A week later,
Now, the days in Hogwarts for Magnus were slightly boring. Other than the more annoying potions classes and some random fans coming to him to talk, nothing much changed in his life.
He had seen the schedule and had to say, it was the most relaxing schedule. There were just 6 subjects, and each day there would only be 3 classes. Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays were off. He knew that this happens only in the 2nd year, because from the next year, he'll be needed to choose an optional subject. Then it will be a messy schedule all the way till the 5th year.

He already knew the theoretical things about all the subjects, through which he had already gathered 20 points for Slytherin. All he needed to do was practically demonstrate them in class. And honestly, when you were an expert in charms by blood, things like Curses didn't feel that hard. Even transfiguration was easy.
So there wasn't much to do. And Magnus decided to completely read Merlin's rune book on the evolution of magic. Only when he knows all about that he can become a master at making spells and using Runes.
"Is there any way to take away a Wizard's magic?" Magnus asked Merlin in the portrait.
"Who knows, maybe the one in your locket may know. I do not possess all of Merlin's memories." Portrait Merlin said.
At the same time, another Merlin's voice arrived in Magnus' mind. It was from the real Merlin, whose soul essence was in the bead locket.
"There is," the voice spoke to him. Magnus was on his bed so he closed his eyes and tried to see the same old grassland with the tree. And, soon he arrived there.
A small blob of light was hovering there, probably Merlin's essence.
"How?" Magnus asked him.
"In my time, magic was not regulated. Anybody could practice anything. This led to many of the dark Wizards performing various dark rituals.
"During that era, Arthur had left it to me to deal with problematic wizards in the kingdom. There were often Wizards who tried to do some rituals and got caught. Their crimes didn't deserve death, but letting them go would have been as good as doing nothing. So, I came up with a way of taking away someone's magic.
"I don't take it, it just returns to nature. The main point is to be stronger than your opponent. Because when you start releasing magic from their body, you will also be vulnerable.
"If you perform it on someone whose magic you miscalculated, it could be you who gets his magic dispelled. It's complex magic that requires a deep understanding of how the magic flows in our body.
"There was... One another way, however... Much more sinister. By doing this, you could not just take someone's magic, but also assimilate it into yourself. Morgan Le Fey did it, many times. It required cannibalism. How do you think she was able to fight me and Arthur to death?"
Magnus silently sat there and listened, "So I'm once again too young to learn this?"
"No, you can learn this, but I won't teach you. I don't want you to foolishly use it on someone stronger than you in magic and end up losing everything. I've seen you being reckless many times, you do not take your mother's warning seriously but let me tell you, your overconfidence will get you killed or worse, someone close to you killed." Merlin started scolding him. But he also sounded sad when he said the last part.
This Merlin was very different from the one outside in the portrait. This one was very serious and grumpy.
"Okay okay, old man. I will get stronger and then learn it. I'm going back to reading the book now." Magnus annoyedly grunted and returned to his normal mind.
Opening his eyes, he looked at the book in his hand, "Hehe, so what if he doesn't teach me. As long as I know how to make spells, I can do anything."
*Door Opens*
"Magnus, Professional Flitwick is looking for you. I think he got permission for the Duelling club." Ragnar entered the dorms and told him.
*BAM*
"Finally something interesting." Magnus slammed his book close and got up. He quickly went out to find the Charms professor with excitement.
