Harry Potter: Blood Of The Dragon Chapter 139

"This is it, the place where all the beasts live. Much bigger and more comfortable than my suitcase." Newt showed everyone around the huge underground space he had created. It had an Undetectable Extension Charm.
Magnus was looking around at the various doors. Each had a tag on it, telling what kind of region was on the other side.
"How did you even make this place?" Magnus inquired.
"Handmade, creating the Undetectable Extension Charm is one thing, but creating their habitat is another. I have to work on them personally." Newt explained and took them inside one of the doors.
"This mountain region is made to imitate the mountains of Europe. A few animals live here, some bird types and the most dangerous ones, Graphorn. Poor creatures are the last of their species. I was able to raise a couple and from them, I now have 5. But, I'm afraid, once I'm gone, they will once again be vulnerable." Newt sounded sad.
But Magnus blurted, "What are you saying? There are probably a few tens of them back at my place... Ah... nothing... Ignore anything I said."
He forgot that Dumbledore was still here, and he was not going to tell the old man about Camelot yet. Maybe someday in the future, but not now. He knew that Dumbledore was caring towards him but Magnus also sometimes wondered if he could be trusted with absolute faith. That he will not betray him for something greater.
"Haha... I want to meet this family of Graphorn. Can you call them?" Magnus asked.
*WHISTLE*
Newt became very enthusiastic when it came to all these beasts. Just after hearing his whistle, soon loud thumps started coming from a distance, and after a while, 5 Graphorn arrived, 4 adults and one young.
Graphorns were large and hump-backed creatures, with greyish-purple skin tougher than that of dragons. It could repel most spells, had two golden horns and walked on large four-thumbed feet. Its mouth was made of tentacle-like appendages, that were used to grab food and put it in its mouth.
Magnus, without any care, walked towards them. Although they were supposed to be dangerous and aggressive magical beasts, he found them cute.
"Come here, yes yes, I will give you food if you let me pat you." Magnus kindly said.
The small family of Graphorns seemed alert and silently looked at Magnus for a while first. But, suddenly they started running away as if frightened by him.

In defeat, he sighed, "Most animals do this to me. They get scared away from me. Only a Unicorn came to me once. See, this is why I will come to learn from you."
Meanwhile, Dumbledore, Ragnar and Newt were just plainly shocked. This was not how these creatures behaved normally.
"Why are they so afraid of you?" Newt inquired.
"I don't know. Maybe I'm just too handsome to be a human and they think I'm an imposter trying to look human." Magnus joked and changed the subject.
"Will you teach me how to make a suitcase? Someday, maybe I'll also start saving magical beasts and give them a new home. Maybe an animal sanctuary for magical beasts somewhere." Magnus proposed.
Newt liked the idea. The various magical governing bodies around the world were not doing enough to protect these creatures, because black marketing of their bodies earned them a lot of money. If someone influential like Magnus starts a conservation movement, then maybe they can save more.
"Ah, you didn't tell me how to make a Phoenix cry." Magnus reminded him.
Newt smiled, "It's really easy. Chop onions near them."
Magnus started laughing, "Hahaha... That's so... Simple."
"Oftentimes, the simplest thing is the answer, we just can't see it in search of something big. Let's return now, Magnus. It's getting late and your parents must be waiting for you." Dumbledore said after sharing his wisdom.
Magnus nodded, "Yes, let's return. Goodbye, Mister Scamander. I will come to you someday. Bye, David. Don't worry about the Orphanage, I will take care of it."
It was indeed a long and tiring day for him. So much had happened. He just wanted to go back home and fall asleep.
So, they said bye to Tina as well and Fawkes took them back. First, they arrived at the Orphanage, where Magnus told Sister Mary that David will be fine now. Then Magnus was dropped off at his home by Dumbledore's apparition.
"Good night, Professor." Magnus waved at him. And with Dumbledore going away, his day came to an end.
Ragnar was also sleepy, so after telling Grace and Adam about their return they headed to their room. Today, they really went to sleep instead of working.
...
The next day came fast. It was just 5 AM. Magnus was still asleep in his clothes yesterday. It was still dark outside.

*PECK PECK*
His eyes twitched as he felt something touching his face.
Slowly, that feeling started increasing and also became painful. "Ah... Just one more minute."
He simply changed his position and again slept.
"REEEE... WRA..."
All of a sudden a loud screech sounded near Magnus' ear, nearly deafening him. Magnus stood up immediately with his Hope and Despair sword in his hands. His breathing was heavy.
But then he looked down and there was Fawkes. He felt annoyed but knew why the phoenix was here.
"Dammit... At least let the sun rise. Camelot is in the west, it takes at least another half an hour for the sun to rise there. Wait... You look different... Did you get your hair trimmed? Pfft... And your beak waxed?" Magnus noticed the changes.
Fawkes nodded proudly.
"Who helped you? Dumbledore?" Magnus inquired. To which Fawkes again nodded.
"Haha... Can't imagine him doing such things. But, I guess you would do that to your best friend. Okay, Fawkes. Just wait till breakfast, then we'll go there. Do you want to eat too?" He asked.
Fawkes nodded and jumped on his shoulder. "Let's go and wake up the house. Today they'll get up early. Hmm... I think I put that trumpet somewhere under my bed. Dad gifted it when I was 5."
Unable to find it, Magnus facepalmed himself. "Gah... Why do I forget I'm a Wizard? Accio, trumpet."
Soon, a small instrument came out of the cupboard. Magnus held it with a smirk and took a loud breath in.
"Here it goes." He blew in it.
*PAAAAAAAAAA....*
Just 10 seconds later, Adam appeared on Magnus' door, panting.
"Oh, good morning, dad. You woke up early today." He greeted.
"WHAT HAPPENED? WHY ARE YOU PLAYING THE TRUMPET SO EARLY?" Adam asked him, thinking it was some danger. Then he focused on the large bird on Magnus' shoulder.
Magnus pointed to Fawkes, "My friend here wanted to hear it. He has a date today in Camelot. Sorry if I disturbed you. But, now that you're up. Let's prepare breakfast."
Adam looked at the wall clock, "Hmm... It's time to go for a jog. Abe and George will cook today. You take a bath."
So Magnus went for a bath, but Fawkes headed to sit on Summer's perch. Both of them seemed to be talking and anybody who saw them would feel like Fawkes was acting like her big brother.
Chad wasn't in the room though. He had different favourite places to sleep every week. This week, he liked sleeping on the face of Ragnar, suffocating the poor boy.
Slowly, it turned 8. Grace had dressed up in her military attire and was in the kitchen, setting up the table. Abe and George had now given up stopping her and let her do whatever she liked.
"Oh, who's this gentlebird here today?" She asked when she saw Fawkes with Magnus.
Fawkes, sensing his praise, flew to Grace to receive some headpats.
"He's Fawkes... He used to think he was the only Phoenix in the world. I'm taking him to Camelot today to maybe make him match with one lady phoenix. He's horny these days." Magnus carelessly explained.
But he received well-deserved pecking soon enough for calling Fawkes horny.
"Well, say my hello to Grandma Martha and Duck. I got an important surgery today and might also get the final patent. So I will be very busy." She revealed.
"What about you, dad? Aren't you busy these days?" Magnus asked.
Adam shook his head and answered, "Since the blast, they transferred me to a new division. Although my powers and authority are the same, now I'm allowed to make whatever I want in the workshop. So, we're developing a new assault rifle with the Ministry of Defence. I even heard they are planning on giving me another medal."
~It seems she has started to work. She's trying to make dad look fabulous so nobody questions when he turns out to be a prince.~ Magnus thought.
"That's nice for you. Okay then. I will leave. Ragnar, you wanna come." He asked.
"Yup, I want to learn from Grandma Martha." Ragnar stuffed food in his mouth and got up. A minute later, Abe teleported them.

Witchbone: The Goblins Winter
Themes found in these stories include friendship, found family, defying negative expectations, trying to figure out how to be a force for good in your corner of the world, doing heroic things even if you don't look or feel like a hero, and that being different isn't necessarily fatal. Summary: A spell of arctic weather. A mysterious death. The reading of a will. Strange tracks in the snow. Eleven-year-old Danny Hallow accepts his life, such as it is. His father is dead, his mother left years ago. His three Keepers are the only people aware of Danny's erratic and not-very-impressive psychic abilities. He has no friends, he's been suspended from school, and he's responsible for the life of a small brown bat that's ended up in his care. When Danny's estranged Uncle Enoch dies under mysterious circumstances, he and his Keepers are called to the town of Eddystone, New Hampshire for the reading of the man's will. Traveling four hundred miles from his dreaded hometown to attend, Danny is happy to get away, possibly inherit something interesting- and maybe find out more about his family while he's there. Arriving at the crumbling family estate of Gnomewood Home, he finds it to be hauntingly familiar, a bit creepy, oddly comforting, and possibly alive. When his uncle's will reveals that he's inherited Gnomewood and everything in it, he's determined to stay and make a happier life for himself in Eddystone, somehow. But at Gnomewood, he finds more questions than answers to his family's secrets. Disturbing old memories come to him in dreams. His psychic abilities begin to grow stronger, and as a result he becomes aware that a horde of cryptic creatures are plaguing the town of Eddystone, seemingly drawn out by the spell of an unusually frigid February. Toothy little goblins that are sneaky, vicious, and hungry. Goblins that take a particular interest in Danny. Will the emergence of the alien, and potentially dangerous, power he's inherited from his peculiar family tree help Danny survive the goblin infested winter, inadvisable attempts to befriend a terrifying boy with silver eyes, and a new school? Only if he learns to control them before they put him and everyone around him in danger. Before they convince some people that he should never have been allowed to exist at all. Before he becomes just another twisted tale in his family's bizarre history, kept hidden for centuries within the ivy-covered walls of Gnomewood Home.
