Noticing how I froze as soon as I realized who he is, my dear cousin smiled and kept going with his insults.
"Who even allowed you to come here? This is a place for exceptional cultivators, not some talentless piece of shit like you!"
Even by standing face to face with him, I was able to feel the rage that instantly boiled within Eve. With her hand already on the handle of 'final solution', I was forced out of my trance. Turning around, I simply looked at her and shaken my head to the sides to indicate her that it's not worth acting impulsively.
"What now, are you asking for help from a female? What, did you turn into a manwhore to be able to come here? What a pity! I should've killed you back then instead of banishing you! At least, you wouldn't bring shame to our regretfully shared blood!"
With insult after insult uttered by his foul mouth, even I was starting to get irritated. Even as someone from the earth, being insulted by an inferior being might be a funny thing at first, but it turns annoying rather quickly.
"Guards!"
Not willing to commit myself to the case as that could be taken as bullying the weak, I simply call out to the guards that are patrolling the nearby areas.
"What? Are you going to hide behind guards? Like they could pose any threat to me! Do you even know who is my backer?"
As my cousin whose name I won't even mention kept ranting, I patiently waited for the guards to come closer. Without a surprise, despite his haughty attitude before, as soon as the city service got close enough to hear what was going on, he stopped his insults and simply stood on the spot.
"This man is trying to…"

"This man has no right to be here! He is a spy!"
Before I managed to finish my sentence, my dear cousin broke into the conversation with his own words.
"I know him very well. He was banished from my family for lacking any talent towards cultivation! Just by being here, he is insulting the idea of the ancestors that created this magnificent city in the first place!"
"This man is trying to stir trouble. You can ask anyone around who attempted to start the fight. We are calmly waiting in the queue, and it would be bothersome for someone like him to keep bothering everyone around. Would you please be so kind as to remove him from this place? This queue is long enough even without any interference."
Patiently waiting for my kin to finish his words, I simply repeated what I was going to say before. No matter what, keeping my calm is the best choice for now!
"Sirs, if you have any personal grudge between you, please, refrain from making trouble to the others. And I will need you to show your participation token Sir."
Even when asked for the jade token, I didn't budge any bit. While it's true that only real cultivators are allowed inside the city during the tournament event, the participation token allows one to bring up to two servants, helpers or simply friends with him.
"Eve, my dear, would you be so kind?"
Still keeping my calm, I turn my head to my beloved one, only to see her with the token already in her hand.
"This should be enough, am I right?"
Stepping forward, she pushed me onto her place to make sure we won't lose our place in the queue. With about forty other people standing behind us already, there was a great chance that without doing so, we would have to all the way back to the end of the line again!

After one of the two guards that came to check on the situation stepped out, he took the token from Eve's hand and after analyzing it for a moment, he passed it back with a genuine smile.
"It seems that there is nothing wrong with this Lady participation token. I will have to ask you to step back, sir."
With the guards putting his hand on the handle of his sword, a clear aura of intimidation suddenly burst out of his body. Looking at the things at hand, he had to be at least at the developing core stage of the spirit realm!
Way to go, big city! Even a simple guard here was already stronger than the sect master!
"Forgive me for letting my junior roam freely! It seems that he got overexcited after seeing a familiar face!"
With a new voice suddenly appearing, I turned my head to its source only to see an insanely beautiful woman approaching the commotion that my cousin caused. With a golden badge of two crossed spears on her shoulders, it was obvious that she belongs to some kind of higher levelled sect that the one I came from. From what I heard back at the mansion from Eve, low-rank sect like ours was only allowed to make their insignia in silver!
"If that's the case, you should take a better of him. Causing any problems in the registration area will be severely punished if I see him doing it again!"
With the calm and polite attitude of the newcomer - not to speak about her insane charm - the guard took his hand from his weapon and backed out.
"I heard that if challenged, you need to either take it on or designate someone to fight in your place. Is that true, sirs?"
Escaping from the slap on the back that my cousin's senior tried to reward him with for causing the commotion, he stood before the guard and asked. It is actually the first time I'm hearing about it!
"Yes, that's true, albeit the cultivation level of the stronger party will be forced down, everyone is bound to accept the challenges. I will have to inform you at that Sir, that any challenge made now, will be forced to after the tournament will conclude."
With a look of clear disgust, the guard answered my cousin's question. Just by seeing a sudden smile appearing on his face, I could tell that he was up to no good!
"I wish to challenge you for a fight! Since I'm the one requesting, by law you have the right to place the stakes!"
Oho? So my dear son of my regrettably fallen uncle will go so far to try to humiliate me? Considering how mad he has to be at my father for all the money he wasted back then while trying to cure my lack of innate talent, it was no wonder that taking revenge on me would be one of his priorities!
Before I managed to answer, Eva surprisingly stepped out with a clearly hostile look on her face.
"If you dare to challenge my fiance, I would love to take you up on your offer!"
Feeling the energy inside my body running amok with how furious she was, I couldn't help but smile dryly. That's a love for you!
"Oh? So is your owner gonna be the one to fight in your place? That's how you will revenge your dead father?"

How to Raise Your Dungeon
A dungeon core awakens for the first time. It knows nothing, it has nothing, but it can hear something. Voices, whispering, talking, and sharing. For now, they are distant. But it believes, if it proves itself, they may provide it with wisdom and direction. And so its slow but steady growth begins. Polls will come when the dungeon specifically wants to choose between a number of options, and believes it will receive an answer. However, it will "hear" any comments made on the most recent chapter, and these will shape its behaviour. It trusts you implicitely. This story is an exercise in stretching my creative muscles, so with each decision made, the options and opportunities open to the dungeon will change- some closing off forever. The dungeon will face threats periodically, and its fate in these encounters will be heavily influenced by your advice, though it will of course do its absolute best even without advice. It hardly wants to die. Heavily inspired by There Is No Epic Loot Here, Only Puns, though my approach to the concept is somewhat different from that work.

The Saga of Geir Røshjert
"His name will never be sung, son. Skalds and bards like me will never tell his stories to the mass. But only us and us alone will keep telling his story, his actions, his saga. For he is the man who started all of this." This is a story no man in Lumenter will ever hear, no man except for an Arnesen, for his stories are dull and generic to the ears of the masses, except for us, because he is the very reason why our people traveled this far east, why kingdoms in Erisgi fell and rose, why I... even existed in the first place. He is Geir, son of Arne, called 'the Stranger' by the people. But what he truly is, is a fiery red heart that beats inside every Eyklandian, Arnesen, and me. Finch is nothing like them. He could care less about nature. The most elven thing about him is his ears and boyish face. He grew up enslaved by racist nobles and escaped the first chance he got. This is about how his first big assignment from the guild might change the kingdom *This is the first fiction I have ever written, please be gentle.* This fiction is now on pause as I rewrite it.
