Falling For Miss Captain : LOVE Vs DUTY Chapter 195

After meeting Lt. Gen. Haric, Yelena was summoned by the highest board of meeting in the Silveren Army Forces. Of course, this meeting was headed by her grandfather, the General.
To be honest, she was feeling quite nervous. She was in a rush yesterday and she didn't want to alert the enemies. That's why only Colonel Arias and Lt. Morris knew about the case that she filed against Lt. Gen. Haric and his men.
Even last night, she didn't go home and instead she slept on the base. Her family didn't know anything about this and they will surely be in a shock.
As the one who filed the case, she was summoned alone. Wearing her uniform, she walked inside the room where she was summoned. She wasn't scared of anything but her grandfather's reaction. When she halted near the chair which was placed for her, she saluted the board members as they were all high ranking officers.
"At ease." It was the General who spoke up as he was the one with the highest rank and the head of the Silveren Army. As he was a General, for now, his voice was full of authority. "Have a seat."
Yelena sat down as she was told and faced the board members. She felt like she was back to that interrogation. The feeling wasn't great.
Besides the General, the officers who were present in the room were all Lt. Generals. Lt. General Louis, the head of the Judicial Division was also there.
"You can start now." General Logan Arista expressed his permission and the Captain glanced at her grandfather for just a split second.
Like always, the General was stern and formidable. He was always like that when he was at work and she finds it hard to read him which made her more nervous.
"The evidence you submit against Lt. Gen. Haric Geraci and the others are quite clear, Captain Yelena Arista. It seems like a well prepared one. Can you tell me more?" Lt. Gen. Louis asked her.
"You're right, sir. It's well prepared. Those are the six years efforts of me and my comrades." The Captain responded.
Lt. Gen. Louis nodded and glanced at the video. He felt a bit reluctant until...
"Don't mind me. Carry on." General Logan Arista said in a calm voice.

"Yes, sir." Lt. Gen. Louis replied and handed the video to one of the Private on standby. Then the video was played.
Yelena knew what the video was and she didn't even take a single glimpse of it. Watching it required a lot of courage! Then she glanced at her grandfather who watched the video displayed on the screen. When Marvin was pushed, the General shut his eyes. Seeing this, the Captain nervously squeezed her uniform.
"Tha date and time are displayed on the video. We checked our records and it matched with the time of death of Marvin Arista who was a Lieutenant at that time. How did you obtain this video?" Lt. Gen. Louis asked her the second question.
"That video was taken by Colonel Maverick Yaris. He knew everything at that time but... " Her voice trailed off when she thought of the late Colonel. "He couldn't stand against the tremendous power of Lt. General Haric. That's why he keeps it safe even after his death. I get it from Sergeant Korin Clive, the one who is the closest to Colonel Maverick while he was alive."
"Where is Sergeant Korin Clive now?"
"Sergeant Korin flee to Edeladon to not get caught by Lt. Gen. Haric's men. Now, he is on his way to Silveren. When he reached here, he will be able to tell you more details." Yelena formally replied.
The room fell silent for a while and the board members started chatting with one another, discussing what they just heard. The Captain sat still, clenching her fists to stay put. Then the recording from the meeting was played.
"Can you explain more about this?" Lt. Gen. Louis asked her again. As the head of the Judicial Division, most of it was his responsibility.
Yelena thought of Ella who called her in the morning and encouraged her to tell the truth without hesitation. However, it's impossible to not feel hesitant.
After keeping her silence for a while, she said, "Lt. Eleanor Geraci planted a spying device on Lt. Gen. Haric's study. That's how we managed to get that recording."
Lt. Eleanor Geraci? Wasn't she the daughter of Lt. Gen. Haric?! Everyone in the room was stupefied! Did the daughter helped in exposing her father's crime?!
"What about the confession of Lt. Nolan Iselin who disappeared for years?"

Yelena thought that she was well-prepared for this but... it turned out that she was wrong. She finds it so hard to answer their questions. However, she can't avoid any question and she was in no place to do that.
"Lt. Morris Flavian and I searched Nolan Iselin for years. We find him a few months ago but he wasn't in a good condition at that time. What he went through affect him so much and it made him mentally ill. I admitted him to a hospital to receive treatment."
"He fully recovered a few days ago but... Lt. Gen. Haric was watching my every move. So, Colonel Arias McLean helped me in meeting Nolan Iselin. That's how we obtained his confession. It was out of Nolan Iselin's will and no force. He Is also willing to testify in court." The Captain concluded.
For the next few seconds, the room fell silent again. After all, every single fact was enough to shook the whole Army Forces! No one had ever once imagined those incidents to happen in the Army!
"You said that you worked on this for 6 years. Why don't you inform the military authorities about this?" Lt. Gen. Louis asked. Just like the moment she entered the room, all eyes and attention were on the young Captain.
Yelena slightly narrowed her eyes and then turned back to the board members. "I'm sure that you might already guess. My purpose in joining the army is to find out the truth. Marvin Arista wasn't just a soldier but... a brother to me." She briefly glanced at her grandfather and continued.
"You asked me why I don't inform the military authorities." The Captain stated. "Lt. Gen. Haric Geraci is a powerful and reputable officer whom every soldier respects. Not to mention that everyone knows he is the strongest candidate to become the next General."
"While he was receiving all those honours and privileges with immense power; if I, a mere Captain pointed at him and said that he committed all those crimes without even having evidence, will anyone believe me? They will dub me as a crazy person who lost her mind after her brother's death." She paused and glanced at Lt. Gen. Louis.
"You are the head of the Judicial Division, sir. Will you listen to me if I do that?" She asked. Though the man was her superior who was way above her rank, the Captain didn't even blink an eye! She showed no signs of discouragement!
"If I do that, then I'll be putting my life in danger. Marvin Arista, Eric Flavian, Colonel Maverick Yaris; one failed attack against him and the fourth victim will be me." She firmly added.
At her last sentence, General Logan Arista's eyes flickered and he clenched his fists. The Captain didn't fail to notice this.
Everyone in the room knew that she had a point. Someone as reputable as Lt. Gen. Haric won't go down without firm evidence! Everyone would think that she was just assuming things.
Then the meeting was dismissed and everyone left, except the General and the Captain.
Yelena was still sitting on the chair with her eyes glued to the floor. She was nervously clenching her fingers and she could feel her grandfather's gaze on her. It's been a while but the General didn't utter anything until...
"Why do you remain like that? The meeting is over and I'm not the General anymore, but your grandfather." She heard her grandfather's calm voice. However, she could feel the suppress rage beneath the seemingly calm voice.
The Captain slowly lifted her head and looked at her grandfather. "I'm sorry - "
"At least, you know that you're wrong. I'm not only the General but also your grandfather, Yelena. How can you let me know about this through Lt. Gen. Louis?" General Logan Arista uttered, trying hard not to raise his voice.
"Grandpa - "
"Marvin is your brother. I know the close bond between the two of you but... he was also my only grandson, Yelena." General Logan paused and rose from his seat.
"I don't blame you when you keep that video from me because I know it was hard for you. Even if your parents didn't listen to you, you should talk to me. I told you many times that I will always be on your side. Why do you always keep me in the dark?!"
