Colonel Maverick died? How?!

Unable to believe it, Yelena tried to get up while staring at her father the whole time. However, she doesn't have the energy for that! The doctor said that the drugs lingering on her veins will make her weak for a while!

"That can't be. We were supposed to meet last night. Why would he die?!" She still had many questions to ask him. Her eyes grew wide when one possibility crossed her mind. Was this the doing of the main culprit? Did he find out about them?!

"No. No. This can't happen. I have to meet him!" She shrieked and shook her head but her wound only hurt more!

Major General Ethan was stupefied at his daughter's reaction to the news. The death of the Silveren Army legend was shocking and devastating but he didn't expect to affect his daughter to this extent! As far as he could remember, they were not that close.

Seeing her continuously shook her head, the father became worried and bent down to hold his daughter in the arm. "Yelena, what's the matter? You will hurt yourself." His face was full of concern. Mrs. Arista also sat down and holds Yelena's hand. She was gazing at her daughter with teary red eyes.

Yelena remained still for a while and all at once, she holds her father's hand. "Father, you're lying, right? You're just joking with me. Please let me see Colonel Maverick. I still have to ask him questions about Marvin. Please help me!" She begged her father. Was she trying to fool herself?

Major General Ethan's face turned pale. Marvin? Did Colonel Maverick had something to do with his son's case? But what would he do now? Maverick was murdered last night though his body was found just hours ago!

Her father's silence made Yelena lost hope. Her hands slipped off from him as if all her energy left her body. She lay on the bed, having no eyes movement at all! Right now, she seemed so lifeless to the point where she resembled a corpse!

Lexus who was quietly standing opposite to the parents turned his head to the door and through the glass portion, he briefly saw a leaving form of someone. Wasn't that Felix?

He walked towards the door and opened it. His eyes swept around the corridors but there was no one. Did he saw it wrong? But what took his cousin too long?!

In a mortuary, Arias McLean was standing next to a coffin. The coffin was covered with the flag of Silveren, proving the honourable identity of the person inside the coffin. The cover covered most of the coffin and only the head was left out.

He stood still, narrowing his eyes at the corpse of his former best friend. He didn't say anything but there were an undeniable sadness and rage in Arias's eyes.

Clenching his teeth, he reached out his right hand to touch his former friend for one last time but... he couldn't even do that!

He failed to protect him. He should be there for him. Though they weren't friends anymore, he still considered him as one and he still cared about him. He also knew that Maverick think the same. They were only separated due to unavoidable circumstances!

"How can you leave just like this? You are cruel and selfish to me until the very end, Maverick Yaris. You should tell me everything if you are going to leave me!" He yelled and glanced at the dead body with anger.

A few seconds passed and he suddenly pressed his arms against the cover of the coffin and placed his forehead on it. He closed his eyes that were fiery red due to anger and suppressed tears. He tightly clenched his fist.

"You have suffered so much in this world. Rest well, my friend. I will take care of the rest for you." He whispered. Longingly pressing himself against the coffin for one last time, he stood straight and narrowed his eyes at Maverick's face. Then he turned around and left the mortuary right away.

Yelena was in the hospital room with her father. Her mother wasn't feeling well but she insisted to stay. However, her father was able to persuade her somehow and she left a few minutes ago.

"Your grandfather is on his way here. He is very worried when he heard the news." Her father calmly said to her.

Yelena was feeling sorry for the old General. She always made him worried due to her injuries at that age! She was highly concerned about his health. However, something troubled her more.

It's already more than an hour ever since she wakes up but... she had still not see Felix. Why didn't he came to see her? More than an hour had already passed since Lexus told her that he was on his way.

When Alonzo crossed her mind, her heart sank! Was it because of him? Felix must be so heartbroken!

"Felix was here while you are in the OR but... he suddenly lost his mind. I think he had a breakdown. Lexus followed him but he still hasn't returned." Major General Ethan said as he understood what his daughter was thinking.

Yelena could felt the pain in her heart being doubled. Just as she thought, the truth took a toll on Felix, mentally. Will he be able to recover from this too big of a betrayal? She wasn't sure.

She wanted to call him but her phone wasn't with her. Maybe Alonzo threw it away. She narrowed her eyes at her fingers and sighed in relief. At least the engagement ring was still with her.

"Just who did this to you? Aside from hurting you, they even inject that drug into your body! How dare they!" Major General Ethan suddenly flew into a rage. His blood boiled with anger whenever he thought about the things his daughter suffered!

Yelena raised a brow but she instantly put up a normal face again. Her parents still didn't know the details?!

"Don't you see their faces? Do you suspect anyone?" Her father asked her but she promptly shook her head.

"No. I don't see their faces." She deliberately lied.

"Last night, Felix called us and told us not to inform the police. When we reach this hospital, Lexus asked us the same. I think the cousins suspect someone and do the investigation in secret. Let's wait for a while and we will hear the details soon." The Major General said. His anger was more than evident in his voice. His daughter suffered too much and it's more than enough!

"Okay," Yelena replied in a low voice. The truth couldn't be hidden forever. How will her family react when they heard that she was abducted and tortured by none other than Felix's cousin? Will that change their attitude towards Felix? She couldn't be at ease!

Mr. Arista remained quiet but his gaze never left his daughter. After a while, he finally spoke up again. "What do you mean when you said that you have questions about Marvin? Did Colonel Maverick Yaris knew something?"

"I will tell you when Grandfather arrives." Yelena promptly said. She tried not to let the negativity get to her but she never felt as lost as she did now. Will she still be able to uncover the truth? This question alone was more than tormenting for the young Captain.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Vanessa Arista was supposed to be going home but something troubled her and now, she finds herself in her daughter's apartment.

Though she didn't ask any questions, she clearly heard her daughter saying that she had questions about Marvin. What does that mean? However, her husband's calmness surprised her the most. Judging from the Major General's nature, he won't be still if he heard that! Did he know something which she wasn't aware of?

These questions bothered her so much and that's why she refused to go straight home. Her eyes swept around the apartment and decided to do some cleaning. She wanted to clear her mind anyway and working always helped her in these times.

She entered Yelena's room and cleaned it for a while until she saw something that caught her attention. It's a rectangular-shaped box.

Lifting the box, she placed it in her daughter's bed. Then she opened it. Seeing the contents of the box, she felt a bittersweet feeling in her heart. The box was filled with photo frames, albums and everything related to the sibling's memories. Photos from their childhood to teenage days and even from the year of Marvin's death; all of them were stocked in the box.

Mrs. Arista takes a look at the photos and in the process, her lips unconsciously curved into a smile. How the siblings love and care for each other was so beautiful!

For many minutes, she sat on the bed, looking at the photos one by one. The siblings stick together all the time, so their photo collection was no joke! Then she found a pen drive in the very bottom. Did they even have some videos together? She really wanted to see it.

She glanced at her surroundings and saw a laptop on Yelena's desk. She turned it on and insert the pen drive into the laptop.

As soon as the video was played, the mother's face turned pale! She was so wrong. This was not some collection of the siblings. In fact, it was the most gruesome video she had ever seen.....
