Falling For Miss Captain : LOVE Vs DUTY Chapter 70

Yelena avoided her friend's strong gaze and instantly broke free from her grip. She continued with her dinner as if she was not spoken to.
Of course, she was okay with letting her friend know about her relationship but... Colonel Arias curious gaze made her nervous. She knows that he was an important person in her best friend life but... everything happened too sudden!
"Yelena, don't try to avoid my question. Don't you see that I'm curious to death now?!"
Just for a split second, Yelena had forgotten that her friend was always a curious cat. Why did she even hope that she would be able to keep quiet?
She put down the spoon and look at Ella with an appealing face. "Is that really necessary now?"
"Yes," Ella responded firmly. "You know that I won't stop until I hear what I want. Who is that man from the countryside?"
Ella didn't get to see the face of the man as his sunglasses covered most of his face.
While Yelena was pondering how to respond, her phone went off. She thought that she was saved from her friend's demanding gaze and she was even glad for the call until she looked at the caller ID. It was Felix!
Inwardly complaining about the timing of the call, she tried to step out to answer but... Ella won't let her!
"Just answer here." Her face proved that her best friend was not joking.
Arias looked at his girlfriend and sighed. Her stubbornness had come to action! She wouldn't listen to anyone at times like this!
Knowing that protesting would only waste her time, Yelena swiped the green button and put the phone in her ear.
"Hello?"
"Are you busy? I thought that you are not picking up." Felix usual calm voice echoed on her ears.
"No. I'm having dinner with my friend. Where are you?" She asked. He already gave her a call in the afternoon to tell her that he landed safely but they don't talk long because he instantly became busy the moment he landed his foot on his homeland.
"I'm on my way home. I visit the company in the evening as it's been a while since I last went to work. I think I already miss you." Felix who was on the back seat of the car said with a light chuckle.

Hearing the light chuckle which always warmed up her heart, Yelena gradually forgets the curious stares of the couple sitting opposite to her. She narrowed her eyes and started to talk comfortably.
"Me too. But why didn't you just rest today? You must be really tired as you didn't even get to sleep last night." She said, feeling worried about the Prince's health.
"I'm a workaholic, just like you. Come to think of it, we are quite similar in many ways, right?"
"I guess so. How about your family?"
"I don't know. I will talk to them when I get home." Felix forced a little smile. "Then do you wear the ring? I told you to wear all the time."
She looked at the ring on her finger and a slight smile appeared on her lips. "Yeah." She nodded. "Why are you so worried? I personally think that I should be the one to be worried. There will be many women in your workplace vying -"
"I don't care." His response came as swift as lightning. "Why would I need other women while I have someone like you? I'm not a fool."
His words made Yelena chuckled to herself but immediately stopped when she heard the sound of Ella who was deliberately clearing her throat. The best friend doesn't seem to be pleased that her friend had forgotten about her presence!
"Umm... is it okay if I call you later? I'm in some sort of an awkward emergency." Yelena said which made her friend rolled her eyes at her.
"Fine. I will wait for your call." Felix nodded with a smile and ended the call.
Yelena put down her phone and instantly placed inside her bag. She then looked at Ella who still stared at her with a demanding gaze. "So, who is the man?" Ella asked her once again.
"Someone who you don't know."
Her response made Ella frowned. "Come on! Don't be like this. I'm dying out of curiosity!" She exclaimed.
When Yelena remained quiet, Ella becomes more and more impatient. "Then tell him to come here. We can have drinks altogether." She opined with a hopeful smile.
"You already drink so much! Stop thinking about drinking more." Yelena scoffed at her friend. She truly had no brain!
"Can't you understand that it's an excuse to meet him?" Ella grunted. She really wished to see the man who managed to capture her friend's heart that was once frozen like ice! She knows that she already give up on her ex-fiance and that made her more curious about the mysterious man. Ah! Why didn't she took a good look at the man that day?! She started to regret!

Yelena helplessly sighed. Felix already returned to his homeland but her friend was so persistent! What would she do?
"Why won't you let me see him even for once?" Ella complained with a displeased face.
"It's not that I don't want to. It's that..." She paused midway, wondering how she would respond.
"It's what?" Ella asked right away. She showed no signs of giving up in confronting her secretive friend!
Yelena let out a breath and finally decided to give in. "Even if he came right away, it will already be morning when he arrived." She muttered.
"What do you mean?" Ella asked, not following her friend's words. Arias was equally surprised as her.
"He is not from our country. That's all I can say for now. You will know more about it later." Yelena calmly said. If the couple ever meets Felix, they will recognize him right away. So, she wanted to save the story for later.
When something crossed Ella's mind, her eyes widened in surprise. "Yelena! That means -"
"I know. I'm currently preparing for that." Understanding what her friend was saying, Yelena immediately replied with a small smile.
She would need to leave her job. That's what the two friends were thinking.
The lively dinner became very quiet since then. After a few minutes, Yelena went home alone while Arias took Ella home.
Entering her empty apartment, Yelena was reminded of the warmth which she felt yesterday in her family home. It was the first time she ever felt comfortable again in that house after her brother's death.
Suddenly, she realized something and remind herself that she doesn't have time for such thoughts. She immediately put down her bag and opened a drawer where a pen drive and a letter was placed.
The letter. It came along with that video but Felix doesn't know about it because she decided to not let him know. It will only make him more worried.
She read the contents of the letter once again. It was like a warning. It was written to warn her how dangerous the path she chose was. The letter told her to give up on whatever she was planning to do. She was up against someone who was deemed very scary, much more scarier than she could imagine!
The letter made her more stubborn and persistent than ever before! She also saw some hope in it because it was a proof that there was someone who knows about the incident! Reading the content of the letter, it was very sure that it was sent by some other person and not the culprit. There was indeed a witness.
The one who sent the letter knows that she was digging the incident! But who could it be? Could the person be the same as the one who hid the Iselin's away?!
If the real culprit knows that she was after the incident, then the murderer won't sit still! That would mean that the culprit still doesn't know about her. Many questions flooded her mind but the more she thought about it, the more she became lost!
She opened her laptop to watched the video again, hoping that it would help her in finding at least a single clue. But it was so hard to watch that she was forced to pause many times!
The face of the man who instigated the torture was never shown on the video but his voice could be heard. Turning her head away from the video, she decided to listen to the voice.
Still, the sound of tortures, pleas and screams of the three men was like a sharp blade that could cut through your muscles and even your bones! Hearing her brother begging for her, she closed her fiercely red eyes and clenched her fist.
All at once, she suddenly opened her eyes and rewind the video. She listened to the voice of the man with open ears. All her attention was fully focused on the voice and nothing else.
She paused when the video reached a certain part and the disgusting voice of the man repeatedly echoed in her ears.
She was sure that she had heard the voice in the past! But when?
