The Ancient Genes Chapter 552

Express Station, Trinity.
Max was having the most difficult time in his life currently. They had reached Trinity and now he was brainstorming on how to stop Lear's mom from leaving.
"It's time to part, I will be cheering for you guys," Lesia said with a smile as they walked out of the cabin out onto the station platforms.
The people around immediately began to stare at them as the group attracted attention due to the three beautiful ladies and a blindfolded man.
"How about you come with us? You should have heard that I have withdrawn from the competition. I am here as a supporter just like you. We can go watch the competition together," Max said with a smile which caused Janet's brows to jump while Elly remained calm but her eye sure had turned toward Max for a second.
"Umn.." Lesia looked at Max and then at Elly before refusing. "I have already given you enough of a trouble, I am not sure about troubling you anymore. I will try to find you in the stands though."
With that Lesia turned around to leave and Max started to sweat. This was what he was afraid of. She obviously didn't want to get between the young ones. On the Express car, they didn't have a choice. But here, she indeed had one.
"What would you do now?" Elly quietly asked as she looked at Max.
The frown on Max's face deepened and suddenly an idea came up in his mind and he turned look towards Elly.
"You need to faint."
"What?" Elly asked in surprise.
"Just act as if you have fainted for a few seconds and don't get up until I ask you to," Max said with an urgent look on his face as he asked her to hurry.
"You serious?" She asked again.
"Yes," Max nodded. "And hold your breath for a while."

Elly didn't know what was going on but she just did as he asked her to and the next instant her body went limp and she ended up in Max's arm.
"Elly!" Janet screamed and just as Max had expected she went in panic.
"What's happening to her?" She asked with a concerned face.
"I-I don't know," Max said nervously before further continuing, "Check her breath!"
Janet nodded and put her finger's in front of Elly's nostrils.
A few seconds later, Janet's face turned pale when she failed to notice any signs of breathing.
"S-She is not breathing.." She said in a trembling voice while looking at Max with glistening eyes.
"Dead?" Max asked her and as expected, tears began to gush out of her eyes and she created a ruckus right in the middle of the expression station.
Lesia hadn't gone far yet when she heard Janet scream, she immediately turned around before rushing back towards them with hurried steps.
"What's going on?" She asked with concern look as she stooped down to look at Elly.
"She isn't breathing," Janet said with her face covered in tears.
Lesia frowned and put her fingers on Elly's nostrils and it indeed looked like she wasn't breathing and even her face had started to turn red a bit. But oddly, she could feel her pulse which was normal.
'This is weird? Why isn't she breathing? Nothing seems wrong with her body?' She couldn't understand what was going on with Elly at all. There were no signs of injury on her at all and even her mana flow was perfectly fine.
"Contact the Medical Helpline number," Lesia said to Janet before grabbing Max's head out of nowhere and suddenly forcing it down on Elly's face.
Max was totally caught unprepared for that. He was busy making his move while others were distracted and just as he was done, he felt a strong grip on his head and his face soon went towards Elly. He tried to resist but couldn't do it all.

"You put air into her mouth, I will do the chest compressions," Lesia said as Max and Elly's lips met.
Elly's eyes immediately jumped open and that the shock was evident!
Max shocked as well, but still acted calmly and slightly pulled his head up and maintaining a distance of less than a centimeter between them.
He could sense the shock from Elly's gaze and gestured her to calm down and not break the act or they would be done for.
Elly maintain herself in the position with sheer will. Her face had been flushed all along. It was hard to tell whether she was embarrassed or out of breath.
"Are you even doing it?" Lesia asked with a frown as she pressed onto Elly's chest.
"Yes!" Max nodded.
A few seconds later, Elly woke up with heavy breathing and after a few continuously coughing streak and a dizzy episode, she was miraculously revived and was back with them. Janet immediately jumped in her arms and cried like a child.
Elly smiled and patted her back while consoling her. She then suddenly turned her head towards Max and gave him a look.
"Cough!" Max coughed awkwardly before turning to thank Lesia for her help. He exaggerated it to the point where she had practically become an angel send from heavens to save Elly and he insisted her to stay with them and allow him to repay her for the help. He promised that she just had to sit back and enjoy the competition and he would handle everything.
But Lesia still refused in the end and after checking on Elly once more, she proceeded to leave.
"Don't tell me you are going to let her leave after all I had gone through? We had even planned on not having any physical relationship until both of us had given the consent," Elly said as she leaned on Max, pretending to have his support due to weakness while they slowly walked out of the place.
"Don't exaggerate it like that. It barely touched for a second. Besides, how was I suppose to know she would force me like that?" Max was helpless here as well.
But Elly didn't seem to be taking it.
"So, she is gone even though I sacrifice my first kiss in order to stop her?"
Max would have loved if she had more expression on her face and said it as a joke, why did she had to be calm all time?
"You are deliberately rubbing into me aren't you?" He asked looking at her.
"Well, now that its done, we can't change it. I might as well use it to maximum. You look like the kind of guy who would take responsibility for his actions," Elly said as she finally showed a genuine smile for once. The same one she had when dealing with her friends
Well Max was new in her friends list so it would be taking time but she had already started to open up to him and the distance between them had decreased.
Max was really speechless when he heard those words. Those words sounded like a threat to him these days. He indeed took responsibility for his actions....May be he should stop taking responsibility from now on..
"Anyway, look ahead, I am not the guy who fails, your first kiss was worth it.." Max said with a smile and even Elly couldn't help but react a bit, feeling embarrassed when it was put like that.
And when she raised her head to look ahead, she saw Lesia standing ahead with a troubled smile on her face.

Four ordinary young people from four corners of the Earth wake up on a hill in another world. Here, their very presence is a crime against the Gods. On the fringes of civilization, life is often brief and always violent, but in the Empire's Heartland, implacable hunters seek to rectify their blasphemous existence with Blade and Fire. To return home, they will need to adapt to a place where their life will be earned in steel. But what will they be ready to sacrifice for their goal? Will their flame flicker out like so many others before them? Or will they thrive as Embers in the Ash? Hello, and welcome to my first fiction on this site! Embers in the Ash is an epic fantasy adventure story that aims to span quite a few chapters (I hope!). To set expectations, this isn't going to be a LitRPG or power fantasy-style story. I'm aiming for a fairly grounded story set in a fairly high-fantasy world. I hope you enjoy it! For this first month of publication, my aim is to give you, the reader, something to really bite into. I will be releasing a chapter every day at 9:15 AM EST (13:15 GMT), as well as the occasional double chapter (which will always be announced by a post-chapter author blurb). Check in fifteen minutes after the first chapter's release! After this first month of publication, the aim is to go for either a weekly or bi-weekly release schedule, depending on the sort of time I can reliably dedicate to writing. Either way, settle in for the long haul, and welcome to the story!
