The Ancient Genes Chapter 545

"Its a pity that I didn't meet at you at my full strength," Kain sighed but August couldn't find any disappointment in his eyes at all. It was a clear that the guy wasn't disheartened or whining about the situation. He just felt that it would have been nice if he could have face August at his best.
"You are indeed a strong one. But in this situation, you aren't my match." August shook his head. He felt the same as Kain, he felt that the guy was absurdly strong and was even said to have rivalled the top geniuses of Ancient Families once. But, right now he wasn't in his best condition.
August suddenly took a step as flames erupted from his feet and the next moment, he depicted a footwork techniques and in the blink of an eye, closed the gap between him and Kain.
Kain crossed his arms in front of his chest and allowed August's fist to crash into his guards with a bang and a pain spread through his arms.
But in that moment of clash, his eyes suddenly gleamed with a dangerous light and a beam of destruction condensed in them before shooting out.
August immediately turned his head towards the side as the attack grazed past him leaving a terrible sensation of pain behind.
"Careful, I wouldn't be so sure of a win, if I were you.." Kain said with a laugh even in his terrible condition. He really looked like a crazy guy right now. But unlike Wilson's arrogance, he had an air of calmness around him. It was as if nothing could really trouble him at all.
"Well, we will see it soon.." August said as he stretched his body a bit and then suddenly moved with flames flaring out of him.

Kain smiled before running straight towards him with his destructive energy coiling around him as well.
"Bang!"
The two clashed and the fight instantly turned into a brawl.
Kain didn't have an advantage and was destined to lose today if the fight drew out. And getting away was from here was not an option for him. Since that was the case, he threw all the caution out of the window and went for a fist fight. Even if he lacked strength, he was going to get through it with his grit and win this thing.
Obviously, this method required the other party to accept the challenged for a head on fight as well and luckily August assented to it.
And why wouldn't he?
He had his pride as well.
How could he not have it when he was one of the talented youths of the Ancient Families?
The guy in front of August was injured and couldn't even use half of his true ability. Yet, he still stood there and faced him head on like that.
Where would he hide his face if he refused his invitation to a head on fight even after he had so much advantaged on his side?
Will he even be able to look himself in the mirror if he turned away from his right now?
…
On the other side of the battle field…
Erina was on the duty of guarding the base set up by them.
She really wasn't in a good mood after going through Axel's torture. Well, calling that a torture would be far fetched but it was definitely enough to leave people biting their handkerchief with a teary eye in anger.
And now, she was even stationed here to be on standby and protect Axel until the situation demanded her presence anywhere. After all, this was an important location for them. The reinforcement team was stationed here and communication was being controlled from here as well.

At this moment, the people around suddenly started to react as if they were feeling ill and suddenly one of the guy collapsed out nowhere and another one soon followed after him.
When the news reached Erina she immediately came out to find what was going on, her face suddenly changed colors after she walked near the camps.
"Careful!"
"The mana in air feels unnatural! It's poison!" She immediately let out her flames and it began to crackle as it burned the tiny traces of poison around her.
The people around immediately reacted as well and immediately brought out there mana barriers but a good portion of them were already affected by now.
Erina suddenly turned around and scanned the whole area before her eyes suddenly landed on one of the students among the crowd.
"Whoosh!" She immediately shot forward in front of the dumbfounded gazes of the crowd and the next instant, flames erupted covering the guy in it.
When people were thinking that the guy was done for, the flames suddenly parted to reveal a figure holding onto Erina's fist with a smile on his face.
It was Alen Blackwood.
"You still didn't punch with all your might, were you afraid that your suspicions might be wrong?" He asked while looking at her with a calm but mocking smile.
Erina immediately waved her palm covered in flames burning all the little poison pollens that the guy had just sneaked towards her while trying to distract her with a conversation.
"Hmph! These tricks are old Alen, today I will teach you it won't be working again!" Erina snorted as the flaming avatar rose from her body and its swords slashed towards Alen forcing him to retreat.
…
A short distance away from the place…
Nathan stood on the top of a building looking at the fight going on between Erina and Alen with a long bow in his hand.
His current state was extremely miserable as well. It seemed he had gotten caught into the breath attack of the Commanding Beast and later had even suffered an impact when it let out a mana explosion. He was actually no better then Ren from Vienna Academy.
Nathan suddenly raised the bow and stretched out its string to max while aiming for Erina who was currently engaged with Alen and was clearly not aware that she was going to be sniped.
He stood there calmly while observing Erina and his hands moved with her change in position.
'Now!' A voice rang in his mind and he suddenly released the string.
"Hmmn?" The light arrow he had condensed suddenly dispersed instead of shooting out and the string of his bow was still stretched out even without his fingers on it.
How was this possible?
He tilted his face towards the side and it was only then that he realized that another pair of fingers had grabbed onto the string from behind.
His eyes suddenly widened as a chill rose up his spine. He immediately turned around only a to see a purple flash and hear the crackling of lighting as a punch landed on his face sending him tumbling around the ground.
"I said I will be sending you out and even though its a bit later, the time has come." A voice filled with anger entered Nathan's ear and he raised his face with a busted lip to see Wilson standing there with an evil smile on his face.

Mirage Winter. Second Clause, current act. A Relic Hunter's life is harsh — and often short — in the shattered lands of the Frontier. But when Whitelight reemerges, a legendary blade capable of separating anything the user wills it to cut, a newly formed unit organized of Hunter’s both young and old (and sediment based, in a particular case) vow to stop it from falling into cruel hands. Standing against them is the Frontier itself: the unbridled wrath of global federations, fellow Hunters, and those who lurk in the shadows of giants. As the world races to unravel a history desperately concealed, a semi-sapient rock soon realizes that some things are better off dead and buried — especially when those secrets carry an insidious corruption with no cure. Iteration: Mirror-glass Stars in Iron Oceans. First Clause. A soul wakes up as a rock, clinging to fragmented memories and knowledge of another era. What fate awaits such a creature? No, this isn't satire. Yes, I am dumb enough to try to take this seriously. Updates Wednesday, Friday with a variable amount of chapters. This story is not recommended for the easily disturbed.
