The Ancient Genes Chapter 544

"Do you think he is interested in her?" Janet asked with interest as she stared at Max and Lesia chatting. They had been going on for a long while now and it seemed they were having fun. "I have never seen him behave like that with any girl.."
She wasn't realizing at all that her friend's face was turning darker with each of her passing comments.
"She is one of their Academy's supporter. He obviously can't mistreat her. You are just over thinking it." Elly shook her head trying to stop Janet's train of thoughts. She definitely didn't want any funny idea to take place in her mind.
Did she even know that what she was telling to Elly about Max was not funny specially when considering that Elly was his fiancee?
"You really think so? Am I just thinking too much?" She asked looking at Elly and Elly nodded.
But in the end, Elly couldn't help but glance at Max a bit. She was actually annoyed. She was clearly not happy with this behavior of his.
Max obviously was aware of her gaze but he just couldn't turn around and say that she was his friend's mother.
No one would believe him and how Lesia would react after that was another thing to wonder honestly.
….
Competition ground, Capital.
"Don't stop!" Ren shouted at his teammates as the Commanding beast's screeches resounded in the vicinity.
They had successfully enraged it once again and were currently leading it towards their destination.
"Spread around and move toward the targeted location! Don't give it a chance to attack to many of us at once!"
"The Attack team keep targeting for its remaining eye and the rearguard team try to slow it down!"
Ren issued several commands as he skillfully led the team. The group had steadily taken the job of leading the Commanding beast a while ago from Faryl's group and now were heading straight towards the next group which was being lead by Xenon Frost, the leader of Blue City Academy.

But as the group neared towards there destination, the look on their faces changed and their eyes turned grim.
The group being lead by Xenon was in distraught as they were being besieged by a horde of beast and the main problem here was that Xenon seemed to be engaged in a desperate fight as well.
When the group got closer, the man behind the chaos turned out to be the leader of Orca, Kain Walker.
"You are here as well, Ren?" Kain said with a smile before retreating back and looking at the two. Even though he was injured, Kain was still the strongest person after Max in the whole competition and it definitely wasn't easy to deal with him.
"Scree!!!!"
Kain smiled when he heard the angry screech of the Commanding Beast. It was here. Now, he just needed to hold onto these guys and it would be all over for them.
"You leave! I will hold onto him!" Ren said as he pulled his swords out but before Xenon could do anything Kain made a move and the destructive energy shot out of his body all around. He clearly was planning slowing everyone down and holding them until the Commanding Beast wiped them all out.
Ren who was injured and not at his best was clearly lacking the means to against him.
"Tsk!" Xenon frowned as he looked at Kain. The guy was definitely being reckless and crazy because this was the last stand and if he succeeded, it would be all over for them.
And on there side, Xenon was the only one capable of going against him and he could probably even beat him if given enough time. But for Ren, it was impossible. He was in no condition to fight anyone and would probably even defeated by a regular Advance Tier Mage right now.

Only if there was another person here capable of holding Kain. If that was the case, then he could have easily escaped and led the Commanding Beast away.
As things were getting dire and Xenon decided to make a reckless move, a person suddenly appeared in front of them.
"I will stop him, you guys lead that thing away…" He exuded a savaged aura and it definitely complemented his strong build too. He stood there with a confident face while blocking all the incoming attacks with his mana barrier alone.
Both Ren and Xenon looked at him and didn't recognized him at all. His badge seemed to show that he was from Arcane and when they saw that Academy tag, they could only go silent. There was not a single person who dared to underestimate Arcane when they had surprised everyone times and times again.
"Flare!"
A black flame suddenly lit up on the guy's hand and it immediately made Xenon and Ren's face grave. The flames made there blood go cold and they could definitely tell it had burned humans to ashes before.
The two exchanged glances and saw the shock in each other's eyes. It seemed there really were experts hidden all around and why in hell were they gathering in Arcane? There was definitely something up in Arcane.
After all, they couldn't think that Lisa, Lear, Wilson, Mark, Eren who were known figure out there had just transferred into Arcane for no apparent reason.
Then there was Max and there was really no need to even talk about him.
And now this guy, only Orca and Ethera probably had the capacity to go against them if they excluded Max from the list but obviously it wasn't going to happen. They would probably be bodied by them in the next event if it turned out to be a direct confrontation.
At this moment, they had no idea that Max had already withdrawn from the competition and a big portion of there trouble was gone for them.
"Whoosh!"
Black Flames spread out like wildfire and immediately engulfed the whole area and Kain frowned when he saw that it was burning his chaotic energy to cinders.
Just what kind of flames were this?
As the heat rushed up to their faces, Xenon and Ren realized that the battle had begun and immediately began to withdraw.
Kain looked at them and made a move to stop them but he wasn't in his peak state and being reckless in front of August who was pretty used to Wilson's even more crazy method of fighting was a bad thing to do.
The moment he spotted an opening, a fist full of flames crashed into Kain out of nowhere.
August was fast!
Kain's eyes diluted at the impact and he puked out blood as his body went flying away but even in that state, he suddenly turned himself in mid air and managed to land on his feet while sliding down the street full of debris.
"Show me what the top of Noble Houses have got?" August said with a serious tone as he took his fighting stance and both his fist burst into flames.
"Ancient Family….I see. No wonder.." Kain shook his head as he wiped the blood on his lips while looking at August before suddenly breaking out into a smile.
He was one of those crazy battle maniacs after all.
