The Ancient Genes Chapter 543

"Bang!"
Lear's fist landed on Arnold's face but it had clearly slowed down after Lear heard those words. After all, one would flinch when put in a sudden state of shock.
On the other hand, Arnold's boiling fist landed on Lear's chest burning his shirt through as the sizzling sound of skin burning originate from the point of contact.
A smile leaked out on Arnold's face as he saw Lear's face fall low and blood spill out of his mouth. It seemed that he had passed out of the pain.
It was his win!
"Grip!"
"Hmmn?" Arnold was suddenly startled when he felt a tight grip on his hand. He immediately looked towards it and the next instant his eyes diluted when he saw Lear grabbing his boiling arm covered in lava with bare hands without any care of the burns.
"Is this your doing…" A calm voice escaped from Lear's mouth and when Arnold shifted his eyes towards Lear, he saw death staring at him.
Lear had truly lost it at this instant, his mana suddenly began chaotic and his eyes suddenly began to turn even menacing .
Arnold suddenly felt a pain coursing through his body and even though he was the one in advantage here, he was suddenly brought down to his knees and veins began pop all over him.
"Was it you?" Lear asked as the killing intent in his eyes grew.
Suddenly the vein on Arnold's forehead twitched furiously and the next instant, it burst forth spewing blood all around.
"Aaahhhh!!!" Arnold roared in anger and pain as his aura burst forth once again and he pushed his fist deeper into Lear's chest with all his might.
Blood sipped out through the corner of Lear's lips. He was serious injured after all and had only been holding back with sheer will.

The pain was really killing him and he staggered a couple of steps back but still gritted his teeth.
He would kill this guy today at any cost.
"Do it now!" Arnold suddenly screamed and the next instant, two figures from Orca appeared around Lear. They were the ones who had lured the Manticore around.
Lear's face changed and the blades of his swords immediately rushed out blocking one of the guy while his metallic fist smashed into another's abdomen with a terrifying might and the guy was soon engulfed in a white light.
The other guy immediately panicked seeing his teammate being eliminated in a single hit and tried to flee but under Lear's menacing eyes, he felt a pain all over his body.
"What's going on?" He became deathly pale when his veins started to pop out and twitch as if they were about to burst out. The pain which it made him suffer was intense and he began to scream like crazy while rolling all over the ground before finally reaching his limit and forfeiting.
Lear felt a bit dizzy as this was draining his mental strength like crazy. But he still had a guy left and as he turned around to look for Arnold, he was gone.
'That b*stard! I will definitely kill him one day!' Lear cursed when he suddenly felt himself losing that mysterious feeling. He knew it was just luck that he had realized the true extent of his ability in the thirst of blood. But it was still really far from his grasp.
And now that he had forced himself in that state of realization and overworked his own body and mana he really felt like collapsing to the ground. He felt that his mana was going to deviate at any instant and the moment it did, he would be doomed.

'F*ck! I really pushed myself over the top..' He put his palm over his mouth as blood rushed out of it. And now he was starting to feel the pain from the burns as well and that punch seemed to have fractured his ribs.
But Lear was sure that Arnold was in no condition to do anything else in this competition now. At least Leo didn't need to worry about Arthur.
"Lear! What do we do?" Zeld suddenly appeared beside him and asked with a grim face.
The other team was already leading the Commanding Beast probably and they had gotten caught up in this trouble here. If they didn't get out of here soon then it would be a disaster.
"Have you contacted the base to inform about the situation?" Lear asked as he looked at the students fighting with the Manticore.
"One of the student is on the way to the nearest transmission phone set up…" Zeld replied with a nod.
"Tell the guy next in command after you to lead that thing towards the south, we don't want the people from reinforcement team to get caught up here as well." Lear said before turning to look at towards their destination, "You bring another guy and come with me. We will bring that thing out until others arrive.."
Zeld's face changed in shock, "We are going to face that thing with just three people?"
"We aren't fighting that thing. Besides, I can't fly with more than two people." Lear shook his head.
The Golem couldn't fly so he was planning to hurry towards the place and use air to avoid the beasts on the ground while dragging that thing out. But there was a problem, he could feel his body shaking. He didn't know how long he was going to last. Hence they needed to hurry up.
….
On the other hand, Max was still gossiping with the lady and chilling. Now that he found out that she was Lear's mom, he actually didn't feel it that awkward.
And since he had brought Lear away from her, he felt a bit responsible and hence calmly rook the opportunity to answer all her questions. Obviously, some were truthful and some were lies. After all, there were a few things he couldn't just tell her no matter what.
But there was one thing, which he was more than happy to tell her about.
"This is an inside information that even Lear's mother don't know about, do you want to know?" He asked looking at her with a smile.
"Oh? What is it?" Her curiosity was obviously piqued.
"You know the daughter of Roxley Lord?" Max asked as he let out an evil laugh inside.
"Was it Lora?" She asked after going through her memories a bit.
"Yes! Yes!" Max nodded his head, "Apparently the two have a thing going on between them.."
Lesia's expression immediately changed and she looked at Max in disbelief. But Max was prepared. He had pictures of them together with a lovely smile on their faces. As for why Max had those photos, well, he had plans of circulating them on the net in future but it seemed that he had a better use for them now.
"This.." Lesia looked at those with a dumbfounded face.
"Alas, it's a pity that the two can't come out with it. Everyone knows about the feud between the Roxley and the Barnes after all." Max said with a sigh.
It was a pity…indeed a pity…for Lear to have Max as a friend.

The Good Necromancer
Hundreds of years ago, shortly after the Great Cataclysm which destroyed the Ancient World, was the Age of Heroes. One of these great heroes started off in the most hated profession of the time, Necromancer. Join him and his comrades as they accomplish the first of the Good Necromancers legendary tasks. ***** So, quick update for those who pay attention to this section. I'm finally coming out of finals for this semester, and I plan on getting the whole already posted section revised. It's taken me a while to change the necessary things, as I had to start all the way over, but I've at least got the rough drafts for all the revised chapters. These should be going up within the next week or so, still have to go to work, but I am here, I haven't forgotten or dropped the story. Just trying to make this the best work that I can produce. P.S. I will be releasing additional stories. They are all going to be in the Good Necromancer world, however the others will give you an idea on how humans in other locations survived and have thrived. Or not. =)

Carus - Libertas
participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge and also having a go at NaNoWriMo this November. This was a first draft published as it was written for Nanowrimo November 2020. A little rough around the edges, I hope to come back and edit at some point, and then continue the story on. In the grand scheme of things Elias was nothing special. Which was why he was surprised by a random company on a new colony planet buying out his contract. That was the problem with the large companies that ruled the colonies, once they owned your contract, they owned you. Imagine the greater surprise when he learnt that the new company held the promise of freedom. Not from the constant battle against the Swarm that were also trying to claim the colony planets for their own. Nor from the Crust, the mysterious substance that covered the same planets and held the resources they all fought for. No, the freedom from being oppressed by those with more power and to finally decide where to go and where to set down roots and call home.
