The Ancient Genes Chapter 447

The next day arrived and Max got up as usual.
After having breakfast, he returned back to the Lorenz House as he didn't have any other choice.
As they entered the house, Max looked at Lisa with a frown, "Don't you have your own house?"
Lisa looked at him, clearly unhappy by his remark. It wasn't like she had any choice.
"Elly you don't mind me staying for a few more days, right?" Lisa ignored Max and hugged Elly.
"I mind...go back to your home now…" Elly replied calmly.
"Elly!" Lisa cried in misery.
Max shook his head with a smile.
"Please let me stay, my grandpa asked to keep an eye out on Max...I can't return like this…he won't let me in…" Lisa helplessly whispered into her ears.
Elly looked at her and sighed. Obviously, it was going to happen like this….Lisa's grandfather was wary of Elly..…
Max was not so far away from them and could clearly hear what they were whispering about. It didn't take long before black lines began to appear on his face.
"You don't need to be so harsh on her?" Aria said with a helpless smile as she looked at the two of them.
She didn't know what they were whispering about but it seemed that Lisa was desperately pleading for sure...
''Fine….she can stay for a few days..." Elly replied.
Time quickly passed and Max joined Rio for the day before leaving the mansion after completing his shift.
….
Orca Academy, Arcane Division.
Max walked into the place, it was almost two past noon.
"They surely did a good job at it.…" Max laughed as he looked at the dorm which was demolished.
"Where are they now?" Max muttered before commanding, 'System, track Axel…'
«Tracking….»
A second later as if a flame had been lit in the darkness.
Max immediately entered the staff building next door and went to the terrace.
There were four guys who had set up tents out in the cold weather here.
"What are you all doing here?" Max asked with a smile.
Everyone turned their heads, to look at Max who had just arrived.

August walked towards Max and gave him a hug. The fact that Max fell from the back of the vehicle back in Arcane had really been boring him down all this time….he was finally relieved seeing him in person.
"I am fine…." Max said with a smile.
"You have changed a lot…." August replied with a face full of surprise.
"Haven't you looked in the mirror for the past year…." Max really didn't know what to say. If Max hadn't seen him here, he would have to look at him twice to confirm if it was the same guy.
"Must be afraid to see that ugly face of his…" Wilson who was sitting on the railing butted in with a smirk on his face.
"Want me to push you down?" August looked at him.
"Sure...only if you have guts though..." Wilson smiled.
"F*ck you two!! Was the dorm not enough!!! Do you want me to live on the streets next?!!" Axel came out of the tent in a state of rage.
"What's going on?" Max walked toward Kevin and quietly asked as he looked at the trio bickering.
"The dorms are destroyed, we have nowhere else to go…" Kevin replied.
"Why don't you guys just live outside campus?" Max asked in confusion.
"The Headmaster won't let us off that easily….he is adamant of making us suffer…" Kevin sighed. It seemed that the headmaster had prohibited them from living outside the campus and even to borrow someone else's dorm inside the campus.
Basically, there punishment was 'live without any walls out in the open sky for destroying your own dorm.'
A few minutes later, Max and Kevin had to intervene when a three sided fight was almost about to break out…
"Had fun? You finally returned to your family…" Axel asked as he sat beside Max.
"Fun my ass, it was a big headache yesterday…" Max shook his head.
"You looked like you were having fun…" Axel said he took out his newly bought phone and showed him some pictures from the party.
"Why the hell do you have that?" Max asked as he looked at him.

"Beli sent it to me.." Axel replied.
"She was there?" Max frowned.
"You didn't meet her? She told me that your sister invited her…" Axel replied.
''Janet did?" Max himself was surprised.
"It seemed she became friends that day at the cinema hall…" Axel reminded him of that day.
Max was confused, he didn't see Beli. Well there were quite a lot of people after all. She might not have been able to come up to the front.
"By the way, we decided to give the leadership of the last team to August…"Axel said as he pointed at August.
"Yeah, he will do a fine job…" Max nodded.
"So, any idea what the first event is going to be?" Max asked as he looked at him.
"It isn't Arcane, I can't snoop around as easily as I could do back in Arcane...the Instructors are too overpowered here…" Axel said with a frown.
"True…" Max replied with a nod.
"Obviously, they still can't stop me if I want to…" Axel replied with a triumphant look.
"Bro...decided whether you can do it or not…" Max shook his head.
"I can, I will get the information soon…..I have a spy..." Axel gave him a confident smile.
"Who is this person?" Max asked looking at his meaningful smile.
"Will tell you later...you know him pretty well too..." Axel relied with a laugh.
At this moment, the door to the terrace was suddenly flung open.
"So, here you are….you really did run very fast in the morning….finally found you…" A guy walked uninvited, he was seething in anger and there was a palm print on his face.
"Where are you walking to? Who the hell are you?" August stood up with a frown as he looked at the guy.
Max looked at the guy's jersey and saw the logo of Trinity Academy on it.
The 4th rank Academy….
As soon as he walked in, several other students wearing the same jersey followed behind.
"Which one is he?" A guy with brown hair and a strong build asked as he looked at the guy with a palm print on his face.
"It's him…" the guy pointed his finger at Wilson.
Max, Kevin, August, Axel…all of them looked at him with a frown on their faces… what in hell did he do now…
"Who the hell are you?" Wilson asked as he looked at the fellow pointing his finger at him.
"Y-You!! You beat me in the cafe this morning! Scared to admit it now….huh?" The guy sneered at Wilson.
"These people from all the different Academies think they own the place…" Wilson shook his head, "Anyway, I beat a lot of people today.... if I don't remember your face....you must have gone down in one hit…"
Lines began to appear on Axel's face when he heard that Wilson had beaten a lot of people today.
'No wonder….the students were all running around..' Max had seen that the students were looking for someone when he had entered the Academy gates.
"I will apologise in his stead….let's end it here…no one wants trouble.." August stepped up to calm the matter. He was still sensible it seemed. Behaving in the right manner in the time of need. He was still that dependable guy...
"Who the f*ck are you?! Get lost if you don't wanna die." The guy grabbed August's collar and cursed at him.
"Shouldn't we stop it…" Axel asked as he looked at Max.
"Probably…" Max nodded he had a bad feeling about it. But before he could do so, the brown haired guy with a strong built finally stepped forward and punched without any word.
"Bang!"
"Run…" Axel said and grabbed Kevin's right hand while Max grabbed onto the left one and jumped off the terrace. It was only a three story building and wasn't much of a problem for any Mid Tier Mage….
They were afraid....truly afraid of meeting the headmaster once again that too this soon...
"Hahaha….your friends sure ran fast…" the guy with a palm print laughed seeing Max and others leave.

Faeos Book One: The Stuff of Legends
A ragtag assemblage of adventurers, scraped together by seeming circumstance, investigate the theft of an ecologically essential artifact. In so doing, they find themselves embroiled (as adventurers so often do) in the larger machinations of a mischevious gnome, a determined mage or three, and a dire threat to their homes. Based on a homebrew Pathfinder campaign begun several years ago, and still running. Faeos is one part combat, one part character building, and one part entirely justified silliness. Blame any lead character weirdnesses on my players, whom I love. Blame everything else on me. Oh, and yes, this should also be tagged "Unreliable Narrator."
