The Ancient Genes Chapter 428

"Who is she?"
Max turned around on hearing Lisa's voice. But the next instant, his face twitched and a vein popped out on his neck.
He wasn't expecting a whole group here.
"What is he doing here?" Aria asked as she looked between Max and Lisa.
"Well, I called him. I mean he helped you, it shouldn't be a problem to treat him once in a while…." Lisa replied as she tried to come up with some reason.
"Can we just get done with this? Does it really matter if we have one extra person with us?" Elly said, a bit irritated. She was not in a mood to watch a movie.
"Let's take little brother along, we just need to get one more ticket for him…" Janet said with a smile.
Max just wanted to leave. He felt a headache just standing between them.
"You know all of them?" Beli asked in surprise. It was obvious she recognised the four of them.
As soon as she spoke everybody looked at her.
"I am Beli Leya. I am friends with Max. It's nice to meet all the Young Misses here…" Beli introduced herself.
'Leya...hmmn..' Max muttered inwardly. If he remembered correctly, it was just a small noble family with not much power in the capital.
"You are here to-" Lisa stopped mid way realising that Beli wouldn't be here on sight seeing obviously.
She looked at Max and frowned a bit. She was displeased
Just imagine going to a place to enjoy with a friend and then you realise he brought someone else without your consent.
It would be infuriating...
But Lisa forgot that she had done the same by bringing a group of people herself...
"You guys can enjoy.... I will be leaving…" Beli said to everyone.
Max nodded at her and silently called Twice back from her shadow. It didn't seem that anybody had noticed it

"Why are you leaving? Since you are here, you can just come with us...no one will mind…" Lisa replied with a smile.
She thought that it might be her reaction that made Beli say those words.
'Did I make it too obvious?'
Lisa realised that she wasn't in a position to be angry. She had brought people too. But still it was a bit irritating.
She thought of giving Aria a chance today by making her sit beside Max but he had to go ahead and bring another girl.
''Really? I can come along?" Bell asked in surprise before looking at Max.
Max obviously couldn't say no to her face. She was still technically Axel's girlfriend, he had to show some respect.
They began to make their way towards their screening room.
"Go and get one more ticket for yourself…" Lisa said as she looked at Max.
"Why?" Max asked in confusion.
"Janet was the last moment addition to the plan so I gave your ticket to her…" Lisa said with a silly smile.
Max's face twitched once again. He didn't know watching a movie could be so infuriating.
It was his first time coming to a hall and he was sure that he wouldn't be forgetting it for his life.
Aria looked at the two of them whispering to each other but didn't say anything with a complicated expression. She knew that she didn't have the right to ask anything after she failed the test.
She didn't even have the resolve to speak to Max anymore. Her mind was literally in chaos after what she went through during the test.
Max left to get a ticket and soon returned empty handed.
"What's wrong?" Lisa asked as she looked at him.
"It's all sold….you guys can enjoy it. I am leaving…" Max said and turned around to leave.
He was happy. He came to a hall at least, if he just sneaked out quietly there was no way for the old man to know that he didn't watch the movie with her.

Anyway, it was good that he didn't have to get in the mess.
"I have an extra one here…" Beli said as she took out the two tickets she had. Since Axel wasn't coming, his seat would be vacant after all.
"The problem is solved…." Lisa breathed in relief.
Max sighed. It seemed he wasn't going to get out of this no matter what.
A few minutes later, they found out they had another problem here.
The tickets Beli brought placed them in different seats. It was something so simple but they didn't realise it.
Max had no idea since he never visited places like this in the first place. All of his enjoyment was limited to his house and Mark's house. Since Mark had a unique hobby, he lacked friends as well and the duo just enjoyed their days at each other's houses. Not to mention, they weren't the outdoor-type kids.
"What to do?" Lisa asked in confusion.
Aria didn't have any idea as well.
"Just give it to me...you wanted to watch a movie….does it really matter where we sit?" Elly said and took the ticket from Beli.
"Of course it matters!!" Lisa and Janet retorted. Even Aria nodded her head.
"I like peace, you guys can enjoy the movie....now one of you can come with me and then this matter is settled.. " Elly looked at them.
Before anyone else could even make out the meaning of her words, Max volunteered.
"I am coming…"
Elly nodded her head.
''Wait!" Lisa tried to stop them but Elly's words shut her mouth.
"Do you have any better ideas or do you want to switch places with me? You better not say that you don't watch the movie after dragging me all the way here…"
Lisa turned her head to look at Aria.
Elly noticed and seemed to understand her train of thought.
"Aria you want to switch places?"
''N-No...I don't want to…" Aria relied as her voice turned low half the way.
"I can switch places if you want…." Janet volunteered.
Max would have a headache if he sat with Jante and hence just used telekinesis to make Elly stumble back.
''Ah!"
Max obviously wasn't heartless to let her fall and caught her at the right moment.
"Thank you…"
"No problem…" Max said and then he just didn't help her up but directly turned her towards the staff .
"Miss you need to show your tickets…" the staff immediately stopped her.
Max took it from her hand and handed it over, "Let's go.."
Elly looked at him a bit stunned. 'Is he really that eager to watch the movie?'
And with that, he took the lead and went in with Elly.
….
Lisa looked at them and sighed. Her plan failed miserably.
"They look good together.." Beli's words made Lisa and Aria's face twitch a bit.
"You think so too?" Janet asked Beli with a smile.
"They really resemble each other…." Beli replied truthfully without realising a few people's faces weren't looking good.
"It will be great if something happens between them.." Janet said with sparkling eyes.
"It's almost time, shall we go in as well?" Beli asked everyone as he looked at the time.
…..
Max sat in his seat with Elly by his side and finally he had a moment of calm.
As he closed his eyes, a notification popped up in front of him.
«System Update has been completed….»
«Unlocking new functions….»

Plagued by vile beasts, self-righteous Gods, and even his own seething darkness, the cracks in his mind begin to spread and a dangerous, newfound power bubbles beneath the surface. As the world grows darker day by day, this unfortunate journey begins ------------ I suppose rectitude dictates that I should state any themes worthy of noting here. First of all, this story is not a sunshiny one in the slightest. Since it is listed under the psychological and mature tag and not the comedy tag, that shouldn't be a surprise. Next, morbidity is a factor and general apathy towards human life. All of these are common themes amongst other writers, so nothing new there. The story also contains consensual, and non-consensual sexual activity, although I have tried to be as tasteful as is possible for someone like myself. Finally, the pace is drawn-out, and the language is magniloquent at times. Not to mention, the chapters are quite lengthy. Don't expect to read this halfheartedly... Other than that, enjoy the story... There's nothing more important than that...
