The Ancient Genes Chapter 425

Max looked at the things inside the storage device and felt a chill rising up his spine. He could have never imagined it.
There were many things inside the first storage device he checked. He didn't know what most of them were, to be honest...but there was a huge scroll which even he could understand with his tiny knowledge…
It was the layout of a formation….
Max initially thought that it must have been related to the space crystals that they had been smuggling in the capital. He guessed that it was what they were probably using to teleport their people inside the capital.
But when Max gave it a good look, his eyes turned wide.
It wasn't just a normal formation layout, it was a formation layout built on a map and it was the map of Orca.
They were planning to layout a gigantic formation to cover the whole of the capital!
The thought in itself was insane!!
Just thinking about it was enough to turn people crazy….
There was no way that anyone won't notice….No! It was possible!! No one would take a glance at those poor people living in the outskirts of Capital….
But it was impossible to get this job done with mere civilians….they needed Mages and as long as there was movement from mages at such a scale, it was there was chances for the 12 Houses to notice it…but they surely wouldn't put any major importance to it...but if they were to investigate...then may be...
At this moment, Max remembered that the supervision of the city was under Union's hands, his face turned ugly...
Even if they noticed, they probably wouldn't do anything.....
'But why are they laying out such a big formation?'
'What kind of formation is it? There is no way for it to be a teleportation formation, space crystals are so rare there is no way for them to build such a large formation with them...' Max thought as he looked at the second storage device and his face twitched..

It was filled with space crystals….
How many?
Max couldn't count. But it was definitely in millions...
"I thought they were extremely rare...why do these guys have so many of them?" Max muttered as a frown emerged on his face.
He was having an extremely bad feeling about it….
Max didn't know what that thing could do….but he felt if their plan succeeded, capital would be wiped out….
Capital was the backbone of Humanity, the strongest place on the Continent...if it was gone then they would have lost half of the battle before even anything began….
'I need to inform, Master…' Max sighed.
According to Hephaestus, Max still had around 10 years left before the final battle...but these demons had been so aggressive lately...Max was starting to doubt his words…
Still he shook his head and decided to contact his master.
It didn't take long for Stark to notice something was wrong…
"Is everything all right?" He asked.
Max explained everything to him and Stark's voice turned grim as well.
"It's not a Teleportation formation….no wonder the experts from the Ancient Families couldn't find anything in the capital…even the people we caught has a seal on their memories....." Stark said in realisation.
"We have only been searching within the city…who would have thought they were planting it on the outskirts..."
"What kind of formation is it, Master?" Max asked. It was obvious that Stark had an idea about it.
"From your description, it has to be a Spatial Switching Formation…..there are some incomplete records of it being used in previous war…"
"It can switch the location of two terrains…"
Max's face turned dark on hearing those words.
When he thought about the best way he could use this formation against his enemy, he knew that these formation was extremely dangerous….

If it was a teleportation formation, at most it would be a disaster...many people would lose their lives….
But now, everyone would lose their lives…..
Just thinking that one day they would be suddenly standing in the demon territory out of nowhere was frightening.….who knew what kind of traps were already lying in wait for them...Death would be inevitable....
"Don't worry, I will take care of it...just focus on winning the Competition...you can't miss this opportunity to obtain the Artifacts from other Families…."
"Yes, I will…" Max nodded. He was a bit frustrated but even he knew that he might not be able to do anything.
Max wasn't exactly paying attention to himself, he was being frustrated for still being not strong enough...but if anyone knew about his growth...they would definitely have their jaws landing down on the floor.
"Handover the formation scroll to William…I will talk to him…"
Max had initially decided to not tell the headmaster because of that Old man...but now that Stark had said it, he must have trust that the headmaster would not divulge the matter to his family...
A few minutes later, Max turned towards the third storage device after ending their conversation. He still had to see what was inside it. It was most likely some material for the formation…
When Max looked into the storage device, a jolt ran through his body. The next instant a smile broke out on his face replacing all the tension from before almost making him scream in excitement….
…
Tempest Mansion, Capital….
The Lord's Chamber
"Why haven't the Oven's fulfilled their part of the deal yet?" A voice rang in the room.
"An incident occurred last night, the item that we were waiting for is missing…" A middle aged man replied.
If any of the people in the mansion were to see the scene, they would definitely be shocked.
The one sitting on the Lord's seat was Bayu, the Young Lord and the person kneeling in front of him was the Current Lord of Tempest House.
The scene was bizarre but it was the truth….
"Huh? Didn't they say they were going to send one of the Elders to look after the matter?" Bayu frowned after listening to him, the anger caused him to cough vigorously and his face turned pale.
"Son.." The Lord spoke with a worried look.
"Your son will be fine as long as you listen to me...I will return your son's body when I have recovered my strength to construct my own body...now go and look for the item….I want it at any cost….and you know what will happen if you think of something funny…."
"How can I even think of anything at this point? I have already betrayed the storm Family by colluding with demons…." The Lord shook his head.
"What's the big deal? Wasn't your family working with them to begin with? If not how did you come in possession of my remains…" Bayu said as he looked at the man in disdain.
"We only had a cooperative relation…we were not allies…I will be killed if they find out what I have done…" the Lord said with a sigh. But he still didn't regret it. As long as he could protect his family, nothing mattered…

Mabel's boss dabbled in awfully questionable business for the owner of an herb store, and she never blinked when he had suspicious-looking visitors. On one particular Sunday, though, Mabel couldn't help but watch the man leaving Herman's office with a critical eye. It wasn't his impressive height, dark eyes, or shaggy hair that kept her curiosity piqued.Instead, it was the way the shadows seemed to collect around him, dancing under his feet as he walked and vanishing abruptly as soon as the door shut behind him. *****"Do not call me 'Death,' Little One." He reached a hand down to help her up, but Mabel swatted it away, standing on her own and scowling. "Don't call me 'Little One,' Death." She fired back, crossing her arms and straightening her back to look taller. "And, besides, you're the one who told me your name was Death, so what else am I supposed to call you?" The raspy growl that rolled from his throat didn't sound anything like a chuckle, but the slight smile on his face told her otherwise.
