The Ancient Genes Chapter 387

Max walked towards the dining room with Lilly in his arms and Janet walking three steps behind him.
"What is it?" Max suddenly asked as he felt her gaze burrowing a hole on the back of his head.
Janet looked at him in hesitation but still she couldn't help but ask that question.
"Victor….he was your brother too…" Janet finally spoke.
"Didn't you see what he did?" Max asked calmly.
''I know...but don't you regret it, don't you feel upset about it….he was a family after all…" Janet said as her voice rose, she seemed to be lacking control over her emotions.
'Hmmn...so she is like her mother. She is not a good fit for the position of the Lord…' Max thought to himself.
"He wasn't a good guy...if you know what he did? You wouldn't be telling me all of this…" Max replied.
"Why do you say that? He was always good to me….he wouldn't do anything wrong…he was not that kind of a person…" Janet said with a pain in her voice.
"I see….I must have been mistaken then. Anyway, I didn't have a choice. You see, I am not good enough to let somebody kill me…"
Janet didn't reply. She didn't know what to say. Things were messed up. The person who killed Victor, the person she wanted to stay away from turned out to be her brother.
She didn't know what stance to take. Her mom and dad had told her to treat him with love and care as he had been through much. But she still wasn't comfortable around him….she didn't know anything about his past...except for the fact that he killed Victor…
This was going to be tough for her...
….
Max took a seat at the dining table and made a gesture to Lisa asking her to sit beside him. He didn't want any more unnecessary trouble like her Aunt or Grandpa going out of their way and make her sit beside him.
Janet sat beside Max because her mom was staring down at her. She had to be good to her brother.

At this moment, Aria and Elly were still standing. They looked at Lisa taking a seat, but didn't dare to follow her.
They knew what a family dinner was….
"Are you people not sitting?" Max suddenly asked as he didn't know much about the bullish*t rules that nobles followed and even if he did, he most definitely wouldn't have cared.
Aunt Vitni heard Max's voice and saw the two girls still standing. "Have a seat girls…"
The two of them stayed at her request, obviously, she didn't mind them joining.
At this moment, Nathan walked downstairs with his head wrapped up in bandages and a crutch in his hands. He kept glaring at Max as he took the seat opposite to him.
"Ah..Are we late?" Razel arrived with Max's Grandpa a few seconds after Nathan took his seat.
Elly, Aria, Janet and Nathan immediately stood up after seeing them. Mostly because it was a show of respect for the old man.
On the other hand, Max didn't. He didn't have any respect for him after all. As for Lisa she wasn't used to it. She never stood for her own grandfather, why would she do for someone else's.
Everyone looked at the duo who were still sitting.
"Well sit down and relax…" The old man said as he took his seat.
After that, Vitni began to serve the food. It was surprising that she did it all by herself and not even asking a servant for help. On the other hand, Razel kicked a conversation with Max. No one else joined except for Vitni.
"Am I late?" At this moment, a person arrived with a smile on his face.
It was Saleos.
Immediately, the light and fun environment in the room seem to disappear.
Vitni's smile disappeared, while Razel just looked at him.
"I am sorry for being late on this joyous occasion…" Saleos said as he smiled at Max.
Max looked at him and his next words stunned everyone, "Who are you?"
Saleos's brows twitched for a second.
"Didn't you meet him earlier, he is your second uncle…" The old man who had been quite all this while finally spoke.

"Oh, yeah….yeah the jer- gentleman…" Max said with a smile.
Lisa looked at him. This evil guy almost said 'jerk'.
"Haha...I am not a gentleman...you praise me too much…" Saleos maintained the smile on his face.
"I know...….......you are being humble." Max replied.
His answer even made the old man's face twitch.
What was the long pause in the middle for?
"It seems we don't have any empty seats today…"
"You done Lilly?" Max asked Lilly as she had stopped eating.
"Umn!" Lily nodded.
"I am done as well, you can have this seat uncle…" Max said as he got up. There was clearly more than half of the food left on his plate.
When Vitni saw that, she was upset. She didn't remember inviting Saleos.
Max wished everyone a good night and left with Lilly.
As Max left, Saleos's eyes flashed with a chilling light. They were having dinner together because of Max and he just left like that. The kid wasn't holding back at all in slapping his face.
Saleos turned a blind eye to everything and just sat down there.
As he sat down, Lisa got up.
"What's wrong?" Janet asked as she looked at her.
"I lost my appetite…" Lisa replied. She then bowed to Vitni and thanked her for the food before leaving.
Vitni was even more upset after seeing that. It was obvious to her that she left because of Max.
It was certainly true but not in the way she thought it to be.....
….
Later….
"Brother, I want to sleep with you…" Lilly clung onto Max refusing to let go as Vitni tried to take her.
"Lilly, I am not going anywhere...we will see each other everyday from now on, okay…." Max said as he looked at her.
"You won't disappear like mommy and daddy?" Lilly asked with a tensed voice.
"No, I won't." Max said as he kissed her forehead.
"Aunt, let her be with me for a few minutes....after she is asleep. You can take her back..." Max said to his aunt.
After a few minutes, Lilly fell asleep in Max's arms and he passed her to his aunt who took Lilly back into her room.
...
As Max was preparing to get out for the hunt, he suddenly felt a person sneak out of the manor. Since he was on guard tonight, he had released his senses to his extreme.
"What is she up to now?" Max mumbled as he walked up to window. He couldn't see the person with naked eyes, but his spirit energy could detect someone there.
"Follow her..." Max said as a purple light flashed out of his body and followed the invisible person.
'What kind of artifact is that? Its too good to be a repetitive one....and it would be stupid to use a one time item like this...' Max though to himself.
'But how did she get out of the room without alerting anyone...' Max thought as he looked towards their room.
'They are asleep?' Max frowned. He didn't think it was weird but Lisa should be awake. It was almost time for them to leave.
Max quietly walked towards their room and sneaked in without alerting anyone. He could see that things weren't organised properly in the room as if they were having fun and suddenly went to sleep leaving everything in a mess.
"Lisa..." Max said in a low voice as he slapped her cheeks lightly.
'Don't tell me she drugged them....' Max frowned, he couldn't find any signs of struggle after all and Max didn't think Aria was the kind to harm her friends.
'What is that she is going so far for?' Max thought as he looked in the direction in which Aria went.
"Twice....stop them if they try to do anything stupid after waking up..." Max ordered as twice emerged behind him.
Twice nodded before diving into Lisa's shadow while Max stepped on the window framed and leaped as ge spread his wings flew high into the sky.

The Pokemon Ranger
Summoned from his unjust suffering in the mundane world, Spike finds himself before Arceus, who opts to send him to the world of Pokemon with the request to assist in maintaining the world's harmony. Afterwards, Arceus sends him off with the egg of a Riolu who will be his partner along the journey. Next thing he knows, he wakes up with a headache in the body of a five-year-old boy in the middle of a forest in Hoenn. Thus begins the journey of a Pokemon Ranger who will come to be feared by those hiding in the dark of the Pokemon world.____________________________________________________________Author Note:Please keep in mind that this is an AU (Alternate Universe). I will be taking aspects of the Pokemon world that I find to be the most fun and enjoyable and editing some things as I see fit. The world will contain some elements and characters from the anime, manga, and games, but it will also have some original characters and a mostly original storyline. It will not go fully grimdark like some gritty parts of the manga or some more realistic fanfictions, but also won’t be all sunshine and roses like the games. Overall, I do want to keep the story on the lighthearted side, but there will be some more serious plots as well. About 90% taking the story seriously and 10% wish fulfillment, I suppose. Note: I am also posting this fanfiction on Webnovel. No difference on release times for chapters. Also, as an update because of the people who messaged me about the multiple transmigrators, the existence of other transmigrators won't have much, if any, affect on the main plotline (or the harem if that's what those people are worried about). There will only be a handful of interactions with a few of the transmigrators during some of the more dangerous scenarios I have planned. I don't expect this to change anybody's mind, but thought it was worth mentioning. Also, I edited the first chapter to make this more obvious.Disclaimer: I do not own Pokemon or speak for GameFreak, Nintendo, or Pokemon. I'm just a fan having some fun in his free time.

Life in another world with an Immunity System
NOTE: I just finished a large scale editing with the chapters. From now on, the world is no longer a 1000X Earth. I have added my original element. From here on, with a few exceptions, no similarity can be found with our Earth. Thank you. The change has been applied from chapter 1. So if anyone finds any missed places or traces of my previous world-building, please comment and notify me. Andel lived in a world where those with powers will have the final say in everything.
