The Ancient Genes Chapter 347

Three days had passed since the chaos….
Max had been able to recover enough to move around and begin his usual training.
It seems that getting his life force sucked unconsciously had resulted in his weak condition.
"It's time for the session….."
Max looked at Andriel who stood there with a smile on her face.
"So, how are you going to do it?" Max asked as he walked towards her.
"The usual way of course….did you remember the time you woke up..." Andriel said as she leaned forward showing off her cleavage.
Max really felt a headache. It wasn't like he cared about the method, if it was for saving his mother he really wouldn't mind paying attention to that….
But it was only if he was the only one in concern, but her....somehow this didn't feel right….
"Stop messing around, can't you see Young Master is troubled?"
Max raised his head to see Leviathan walking towards them with an angry face.
"Young Master, you don't need to worry. Lifeforce is present in living being themselves…..as long as it's part of them, life force can be extracted….it doesn't have to be anything specific."
"You don't need to call me by any title, Max would do…." Max had been meaning to tell her that for a while.
Leviathan seemed to have something to say in reply as well but in the end, she didn't and just nodded.
Max then turned his head towards Andriel who had an annoyed look on her face.
"Tsk…"
That was clearly the sound of her clicking tongue.
It was understandable that they would have a basic idea about every race's abilities since they belonged from the same place and seemed to be allies as well.
"It's true, but not in its entirety. Let's take for example….even if I extract all the love force from Max's hair and turn him bald, it still won't amount to anything as those things are not important and even if destroyed won't affect you....."

"Besides, I have my own preferences according to people..."
"Can't you just do with my blood? If I am not wrong, it should work right…." Max asked with a sigh.
Andriel glared at Leviathan as she clenched her first. Only if she hadn't interfered this would have all gone her way.
"I am not a vampire….I don't like the taste of blood…"
Max felt a headache as she turned her head in defiance.
"Please, Andriel…." Max could only clasp his hands and beg for help.
Andriel looked at him and finally sighed.
"Fine…." She said in a low spirited voice.
Max walked with Andriel to one corner of the spirit world away from everyone else as he didn't plan for others to see this. He then sliced his wrist with a flick of his finger.
Andriel immediately grabbed hold of Max's hand and brought her mouth forward. It was quite clear from her expression that she wasn't liking the taste of blood.
As minutes passed, Max's face turned a bit pale.
Andriel finally signaled Max that it was enough before pulling out. Max immediately brought out the bandage and wrapped it tightly around his wrist to allow his regenerative ability to work at its best.
"Thank yo-"
As Max turned around to thank her, Andriel's face came right in front of his eyes before she forced her lips onto Max and forced her tongue in.
Max grabbed her arm and separated her from him.
"What? I just made the taste of blood disappear with your saliva….didn't I said I hated it?" Andriel gave Max an innocent look.
"Look, I don't think I did anything to make you fall for me…... I don't think I am misunderstanding after your bold moves….'' Max finally decided to confront her.

"Rescuing me with your life on the line, isn't that enough?" Andriel asked.
"Why does that sound like a randomly made reason?" Max asked, feeling suspicious.
"I don't care….I want you and I won't stop. I am a spirit. You can't force me out of this place with my link destroyed? And I won't be leaving to someone else on my own….so unless you kill me, we will be spending the rest of our lives together…"
"Don't say that…." Max felt his head ache. Here he was thinking of letting her bond with someone else….
"Even if you do that, there is no guarantee I can feel the same for you….won't it be hurtful then?" Max tried to build a weak wall of defense with any reasoning he could think of at this point of time.
"Is there any problem with that?" Andriel asked in confusion.
"Hmm? Isn't there?" Max thought once again and to him indeed it sounded like a problem.
"Me liking you has nothing to do with you liking me….obviously it would be better if you felt the same…."
Max looked at her, feeling that his sense of reason was being shattered by this otherworldly being.
"Besides, I am going to be coming after you for the rest of our life now….I don't believe your defenses will last long…"
"Don't be unreasonable. What if I fell in love and got a wife?" Max tried his best trying to defend himself against Andriel's aggressive approach.
"Hmm….then do your best to explain it to her…." Andriel smiled.
At this point, Max knew that the difficulty level of his life had just gone up by a grade…
"Well, then I will go and pass the lifeforce onto Levi…."
With that, Andriel walked off as Max could only stand there and look at her.
Max stood there for a while before shaking his head, he opened his system window only to see the same message again….
«System Update in progress…..»
Even though the system was updating, Max only felt the disappearance of the chat system to be a problem.
If it was from before, he might have been feeling hopeless. His ability would have dropped a lot with the system in dormant state. But now, most of his abilities were independent of his system. It was true that with the system, it was a lot easier to move and push himself beyond the limit. But even without the system, Max felt that he could bring out 70 to 80% of his original ability.
"Besides, I definitely have broken through the 4th layer…." Max smiled as he clenched his fist.
He was stronger than before…..even though he didn't want to admit it, he had to say that it was all due to the Grand Elder….it was his life experience that let Max grasp the meaning….

The Granddaughter of Time
Teresa Hargrove was okay with giving up. She knew the Earth was doomed and there was nothing to be done about it. What she was not okay with was the Future, an enigmatic woman nearly fanatical in her devotion to making a difference, dragging her along — seemingly, to prove her wrong. It turns out though that the Future is very hard to understand. This story contains heavy themes, including mental illness, existential crisis and death. However, I still tried to eventually convey a message of hope. Several mythical and metaphorical beings in the shape of humans will appear in most chapters. However, they are not meant to be of a specific ethnicity or social background and are instead perceived differently by people around them. For your reading pleasure, feel free to imagine them any way you’d like, even if your imagination contradicts descriptions from the story. Enjoy!~
