The Ancient Genes Chapter 336

"Stay behind me, Max.." Lithiya said as spirit energy once again fluctuated and a dozen more beasts appeared around Max and her forming an enclosure.
It honestly was impressive sight to see that two low level Mythic Beast among them and the rest seem to be among savage and ferocious tier.
This was certainly more than enough to be considered a small-scale army. Until now, Max had thought that his father was stronger than his mom but it didn't seem so.
Besides, looking at the giant serpent-like creature, Max was at a loss of words. He just couldn't determine how strong the creature was from a single look.
Max suddenly noticed that Lithiya's face had slightly turned pale, yet she still stood strong without any change in her expression.
The Old man who had been observing the creature until now, suddenly made his move. A white blade of light conjured in his arm, the very same move that Victor had once displayed. But the ferocity was on a whole different level.
"Come!" The old man released a battle roar as he rushed forward.
Lithiya's expression turned worse, but she didn't hesitate. The Serpent opened its mouth and the next instant, Max felt spirit energy surging inside it's mouth as it began to release a glow.
"Zmmn!"
A ray of icy blue light blasted out of the creature's mouth. The old man's eyes remained calm as he brought down his blade.
"Whoosh!"
The icy light split into two halves and fell aside in two directions leaving behind a trail of ice as it froze everything it came in contact with.
"Please retreat….I won't hold back next time…." Lithiya said in a domineering tone.
The Grand Elder looked at his hand which was engulfed in ice up to his wrist.
"I already said, you don't need to….." The old man said as the ice shattered to pieces and he pointed the white blade towards the Serpent.

"Besides, this coldness….there is no doubt about it….you definitely are… Ice Calamity."
Lithiya's face twitched as she heard the term. Even Max felt a bit shocked at this.
Calamity was a term given to the unexplainable things which occurred around the continent.
One of them was eternal ice of Saga Village on the Southern Border of the Continent.
People didn't even deem those as human doing but to be natural disasters. Just like a legend, Max didn't know if it was an exaggeration or not but....the normal village has suddenly turned into ice sculpture and nothing could melt it. That's the reason it went on to be called the eternal ice.
"I can't believe you have managed to hide all this well until now….."
"I don't plan on wasting another word on a person who doesn't want to listen…." Lithiya spoke as the Serpent opened its mouth and rushed ahead at a terrifying speed.
The Grand Elder didn't back down and collided head on with the serpent as the battle went into close contact.
"Catch them….don't let the Grand Elder fight alone…"
A voice resonated and several over shouted in unison supporting the statement as they rushed toward Max and Lithiya.
Max immediately brought out his spear from the spirit world. Even if he was weaker than them, he still had this bunch of beast taking the initiative.
"Don't…."
As Max was about to move, Lithiya grabbed his hand and stopped him from moving.
"Concentrate on your fight, I will be fine…." Max said as he removed her hand. He couldn't just sit here and watch. Not to mention, Wilson was fighting on the other end as well.
Lithiya still looked worried but Max took a step forward and was already gone.
Max didn't plan in engaging head on, he activated his true spell once again and called out the water dragon. It had already been a few times and he was drawing on his limit. But he still believed he could carry on for a few more times.

"Go!" Max let it go on rampaging as he decided to support the beasts who were engaging in a fight. He carefully controlled his elemental ability and began to cause chaos on the battlefield.
The strongest two beasts were the Silver Foxes, one of the rarest ones to be tamed. Aside from that, there were four savage beasts, Max identified the Gray Cat and Fierce Fang but failed to recognise the two others. Aside from that, there were a couple of groups of ferocious beast.
Max doubted the ferocious beasts would be of any use here and it did seem that his worries were not for nothing.
With the first contact, the ferocious beasts went crumbling down.
There were a total of 10 Master Tier Mages on the opposite side. It did seem they didn't have anyone else.
The Silver Foxes together held onto six of them while the Savage Beasts held onto the remaining four.
The ferocious beast along with Max took on the opportunity to strike them down and provide backup to others.
…
"Bang!"
The serpent didn't back down as it collided head on with the Grand Elder who was seemingly getting pushed back with each passing second.
The Grand Elder's face was getting distorted as the reality seemed to be getting clearer to him.
Suddenly the Serpent whipped it's tail and shot it towards the Grand Elder. The old man immediately brought his blade to defend but it immediately shattered on impact.
"Bang!"
The impact sent the old man crashing into the ground with a deep red mark on his chest and blood flying out of his mouth.
Lithiya looked away with a remorseful expression on her face, Zack had treated him like a father. Even though the old man had never liked her, this wasn't something she would have ever wanted.
Max glanced behind and saw what was going on. The outcome would be pretty clear at this rate.
"Cry!!"
Max suddenly noticed that one of the Savage Beast was down. He looked at what had just happened and noticed broken fragments of what appeared to have been an artifact and his face immediately turned dark.
He forgot that these Noble Houses had too much money to spend….
Max immediately backed off a bit as he took his stance behind the herd of ferocious beasts. This was a bit too early to be fighting a Master Tier Mage but he didn't have a choice.
The man smiled as he looked at Max, but the next instant his direction changed and he headed straight towards Lithiya.
Max immediately flapped his wing and sped after him. He suddenly had a bad feeling, he remembered how she had struggled to even push Max behind a while ago….
Lithitya noticed the man approaching and raised her hand as spirit energy began to conjure around her.
Max immediately felt at ease seeing the situation and slowed down.
But the Man showed no intention of stopping. He suddenly waves his hand and threw out something which appeared to be covered in blood. Another good look and Max's eye turned grim. It was a blood severed hand. There was even a ring on one of it's fingers.
Both Max and Lithiya had seen it….
"Ignite!"
Max muttered as the space around him distorted and black colored energy crackled around him as they latched onto him, but Max rushed ahead as everything around him seemed to have slowed down.
This was his last card, a death card....
He pushed forward with everything he had, he knew what could have happened if he didn't make it in time. He didn't have time to care about his life….
"Shnk!"
