The Ancient Genes Chapter 328

Recycle District, Capital.
Max fastened his grip on his spear as spirit energy began to pour out of the spirit world. He didn't intend to draw this fight into a long battle, he didn't have that much time after all.
The tattoo on Max's chest began to glow as a thin layer shaped like a long coat formed on his body with a crown on his head.
Bayu smiled as he observed Max, this was something he had waited for a long time. He was usually a calm person but today, he just couldn't control his emotions. He was excited, if he could kill Max then he could finally be the true chosen one not some creation.
"Scythe of the Tempest…"
As soon as those words left Bayu's mouth, the air around began to move in a frenzied manner. The clear air slowly turned dark and seemed to be turning sharper like a blade, slicing through everything which came in it's way.
Max didn't waste a single minute and rushed in as he activated his true spell as well, calling out the water dragon.
Bayu took a step forward and pushed himself off of the ground flying towards Max as he swung his scythe.
Max frowned as he saw the incoming attack. He immediately let his water dragon in front and it crashed head first into the scythe while Max stabbed his spear from behind.
Bayu was quick to react as well. As soon as he attacked the water dragon, he used his wind to counter Max's spear buying him enough time to back off.
"You are not bad…..but still too weak…" Bayu said with a smile. He was done judging, he could tell that in terms of strength he could easily overpower Max.
"I am slightly disappointed, but it was given after all. I am the worthy one...."
Max on the other hand wasn't having a good time. He just had realised something. It wasn't easy for him to collide with scythe head-on. At least not in this situation when he could feel that living thing crying for help. It was similar to attacking someone in need of help…
As for strength, Max never cared about it. The gap wasn't that much were Max would feel helpless. He had fought people stronger than him and emerged Victorious and he planned to do the same today.

'Sera, will she be hurt if I knock her….' Max tried to see if she knew anything. But Sera's reaction told him that she didn't have any idea.
Max had one worry, would the spirit inside die any case….if that happened in the worst case, what was next….
'No...I can't think about it. I will have to get the scythe at any cost…'
Suddenly, Max seemed to have remembered something, 'Sera, could you get her inside the spirit world like you did with Lisa?'
Max had tried a bit after the incident with Lisa and seemed to have come to a conclusion. Only people comfortable with a higher form of energy could enter the spirit world.
After all, Sera couldn't pull that man into the sport world whom Max had locked in the storeroom. As for the beasts, Max was sure that she had formed some kind of pact with them.
'I...can...try…' Sera nodded as she wiped her tears off and got up with red eyes.
'Good then...do it when I say..'
If Max's theory was right, this should work. If not, he had to think of something else.
Max took a step forward and broke into a dash as he closed in on Bayu. The guy still seemed to be confident.
"Mud wall!"
Max swiped his two fingers up and a wall rose out of the ground.
"You think, this could stop me…." Bayu said with a smile as he raised his hand and a strong gust of wind blasted out of his hand.
As the wind made a hole into the wall, a spear emerged from the bottom of the wall and shot towards Bayu at the speed of light.
Bayu's eyes widened and he immediately brought his scythe forward.
"Clang!"
The impact pushed the guy a couple of a steps back and the spear was deflected above after the collision.
"Tsk….sly b*stard….I will kill you right now…" Bayu finally seemed to have understood the fact that if he kept underestimating his opponent, he was bound to leave a few things behind even if he won the fight.
But when he looked ahead, Max was missing.
'Where did he go?'
"Where do you think are you looking?''

Bayu's eye turned grim as he moved his body to the side, but it was all too late.
Max descended from the sky with his spear and even though he missed the vital part, he still inserted his spear into Bayu's shoulder.
"Shnk!''
Bayu on the other hand wielded his scythe with one hand swung it towards Max planning to hack him into two.
"Clang!"
Max immediately blocked the blade with his black dagger as he held the spear with only one of his hands.
'Sh*t this guy has got even more strength than Bahamut….' Max was getting pushed and the blade of the scythe cut into the skin of his hand.
'Sera! Now!!!!'
Max screamed inside in his mind…..
Sera nodded and raised her hand as her tiny body quivered and an shadow formed behind her.
The next instant, Max felt an intense pain course through his head as if his brain had been cut into pieces.
"Splash!"
Max felt a sweetness in his mouth and the next things he knew was blood rushing out of his mouth. The pain was intense enough to bring him down to his knees.
"Crack!"
Bayu's eyes went wide as a crack appeared in the scythe and the next instant, it shattered turning into dust.
"Y-You!!! What have you done?!!!!" The situation was something that no one could comprehend. The divine artifact on which even the most powerful people couldn't put a scratch had shattered just like that….
Bayu's eyes turned red in anger. The black wind began to spiral around his hand and he immediately threw it towards Max's chest.
"Die!!! You b*stard!!!"
'Damn it….' Max gritted his teeth as he tried to pull his body out of the way. But it didn't seem to be working
When Max prepared himself for the blow, a noise of something rushing against the wind entered his ears.
The next thing he saw was a purple flash as a person appeared behind Bayu with out of thin air and his legs turned in mid-air as his heels carrying purple sparks landed right onto the side of his face.
"Bang!"
The impact sent Bayu flying across the dumping ground turning the pile of garbage upside-down.
"Phew!"
''I made it in time…." The guy said as he finally looked at Max. "When did you get so fast?"
"W-Wilson…" Max was shocked but relieved as well. As long as he had a bit more time, he could get back on his feet.
"You b*stard…wasn't the day before enough…" He said as he helped Max up.
"I don't want to hear that from you…." Max replied as he got back onto his feet.
"What are you doing here and what is with this situtaion?" Wilson asked with a frown, the shock waves earlier and now this. Was there some relation….
"Let's deal with him first….I will tell you later. After all, you have got to take responsibility for a lot of things….." Max said as he took a couple of steps back.
"Hold him for five minutes….I am sure I can stabilise myself until then…."
"Oh? You think you are stronger than me now?" Wilson asked with a smile.
Max couldn't help but feel his confidence shake a bit as he looked at his face, but it still wasn't enough to convince Max as he replied, "Yes, I am...so be careful. Even I won't have a chance head on…"
"Whoosh!"
A strong wind blew the mountain of trash as Bayu got into his feet. His right eye along with some part of his face was badly burnt and mutilated.
Things had suddenly taken a turn he hadn't expected too. This shock made his lose his guard and he ended up taking a full attack without a single inch of his defence on.
"Shnk!" He pulled out the spear stuck in his shoulder and pointed it towards Max.
"I will kill your friend first and then I will torture you until you get that thing back to me….I know you are the one to have done something…you better be-"
"Crackle!"
With a flash, another kick went towards Bayu's face.
"Bang!"
But this time….
"I am not done talking…" Bayu said as he blocked the leg with his bare hands.
"I don't wanna hear it…"
