The Ancient Genes Chapter 63

As the coldness spread through Max's body and his vision started to blur, he could hear a bird's cry
Thud!
Max was finally on the ground. He couldn't see the man in front of him properly. That man seemed to be saying something. But Max couldn't hear it as he slowly succumbed into the darkness.
…
"Oh.. he didn't break. Don't tell me this kid has got an affinity with ice. Such a waste, if I could have found him earlier….well I will look for someone else...I guess.", Alciel spoke to himself as a wand appeared in his hands out of thin air.
"Ok, let's free you from your misery and then we should get going.", Alciel said as he gave a look to Derek.
On the other side seeing the situation, Lisa couldn't help but break out in cold sweat. She wanted to help. But she couldn't even help herself up. Helping Max was the last thing she could probably do.
As Alciel's wand started to glow with white light, one could feel the destructive energy in it.
"Phuuuu.."
But something unexpected happened. A sound of an object tearing through the air could be heard.
"Clang!!!"
"Rumble!"
It was so fast that most of the people couldn't even react.
But as the object hit the ground, the land shook, the floor pavement cracked. The streets were destroyed and structures cracked falling apart.
Dust covered the entire street.
"Now, now..may I know who this uninvited guest here is."
Suddenly, a voice was heard and if one looked in its direction. They would find Alciel.
He was standing a few feet away on a broken structure holding Derek with one hand on his side by his waist.
Hearing no response, he smiled before a powerful aura burst out of his body and pushed the smoke of dust away.

"Boom!"
As the smoke was pushed away, what first came into everyone's sight was a huge heavy sword embedded into the ground that had created a crater around it.
But as the smoke was gradually pushed away, a hand suddenly emerged from the smoke and grabbed the hilt of the sword.
"Grr…"
The land rumbled as the man effortlessly pulled out the huge sword and then with only one hand he raised it and made a 360 swing.
"Zzzmm.."
And the smoke which was being pushed back immediately got blown away clearing the whole place.
There he was, the new guest.
A huge man with spiky orange hairs. His face looked terrifying. The smile on his dark face really would make anyone avoid him.
He was Murcas Daigo.
He lifted his sword and put it back in his scabbard before turning around.
Behind him was a person lying with shallow breath. There were layers of ice on his body.
Looking at Max's condition, Murcas's frowned as he immediately bent and took out a red crystal before breaking into pieces.
As the pieces of crystal touched Max's body, it started to melt away the ice.
But Murcas knew that melting the ice wasn't going to do much.
He picked up Max in his hands and then spoke, "Giesel, take care of him and protect everyone. I will settle this quickly."
"Scree!!!"
A huge shadow hovered above the street and a cry was heard as an Iron Black Hawk landed right behind Murcas.
As the bird saw Max in Murcas's hand, it let out an angry screech. It had remembered Max from earlier. It had even allowed this human to ride him.
"I will take care of it, Giesel. Just protect everyone."
Hearing Murcas, the beast finally calmed down as it took Max on his back before flying towards the girls and spreading its wings in front of them.

With every other trouble subsided for a moment, Murcas finally turned his head as he took his sword and raised it towards Alciel.
"I will make you pay."
Hearing him Alciel still made a calm expression as he said, "If I am not wrong, you must be the Orange beast of Arcane, Murcas. Daigo."
"It's good that you know the person who's going to be sending you to your grave."Marcas said as he slowly started to move forward step by step.
"Well, it would really be a surprise if I got killed by an Expert Level mage.", Alciel said with a smile.
He was still confident to carry on his task as it wasn't too late for him to turn the situation.
Even if he had to protect Derek, what could a single Expert Level mage do to him?
"Well is it? But are you really sure about it? ", Murcas asked with a smile as he paused.
"Sure about what? ", Alciel asked with an amused expression.
"About my level."
Murcas said as he disappeared with a flash right in front of Alciel's widening eyes.

Katra
Kardin lived a happy and good life. That is, till he was given a strange orb by an even stranger man, maybe even a demon. He watches as his village is burned, the villagers slaughtered and his friend devoured. He escapes into the Jungle of The Gods, a place of ancient ruins and deadly animals. There, he is changed and his fate diverges from what should have been his death. Now he must forge his own path in a world of great beauty and power, where death lurks around the corner and battles between veritable gods are fought. Where nations clash and ancient beings destory civilizations on whims. But unseen cogs move under the surface, events transpiring beyond simple understanding. Strange and powerful items called Artifacts have started to reappear across the land of Auren, empowering their wielders far beyond what cultivation can give. The Traezar Empire and all of Auren are on the precipice of war and strange beings have started to emerge, all with an agenda of their own. Chaos is brewing, and Kardin must survive it, all while trying to attain vengeance and understand his strange and anomalous Katra. ***Current Schedule*** I am currently releasing 1 3,000(Sometimes I end up writing waaaay more) word chapter halfs every week. If there is not some sort of notice as to why I have vanished, then I'm probably dead. Let's hope I don't die then, eh? *Ducks under flying knife* I own this cover, put my own blood, sweat and an hour of my time into it. Ahahaha! This story is inspired (I stress this word, as because most of the story is different) by Will Wight’s Cradle. I highly recommend you read it! (Please for gods sake, if you have something to say, please do it in a curteous fashion. I don’t need any more maniacs flying at me and trying to stab me with sporks, I am already insane enough to fill that role.*Winks*) **What is This Story?** Think cultivation mashed with western fantasy, put into a pot to boil and then drunk while it's pipping hot. All the while a mad man(me) cackles insanely over the pot, stirring. It draws from xianxia lightly, which means no exasperated angry young masters. No “genuis” or “prodigy” MC, one that is not OP, or anything of the like. If you don’t like cultivation novels, this might still be up your alley. MC focuses on “Life Shaping”, see poll 2 for more Info. Warning! If your are squeamish, that gore and traumatizing content tag is there for a reason. I shall dive into both bloody and disturbing scenes and the questionable ethics of manipulating life, and some of it won’t be pretty. With a dose of realism added in. I do add my own evi- I mean despic- no, sorry, interesting twists aswell. >:) Also, I HATE info dumps! *Steps out of the way of a charging semi* Still not dead! Arc 1 (Kindling): Chapter 1 - 13 Arc 2 (Metempsychosis): Chapter 14 - 29 Arc 3 (???): Chapter 30 - ??? A disclaimer, I am new author and am still feeling out my limitations. This story is my hope of bettering my writing skills and to have fun. Buckle up and enjoy the insane journey that is Katra. (Pronounced as cah-tra)

Legacy (vrmmo game)
Is currently being rewritten. Darius is a guy with no friends because the friends of his friends don't like him and so he has no friends. Legacy, a vrmmo game, is the first of its kind to actually look like the fantasy games kids dream of. Darius gets the game, planning to just have fun and maybe get some friends. Unfortunately, he's the protagonist, so yeahhhh shit's gonna happen He chooses the mage class which is often ridiculed for its low health and high MP costs. And he somehow becomes the top player within the game... There is gonna be fucking profanity because books where the protagonist is like "fiddlesticks" when they fuck up are stupid and targeted at kids that haven't gone thru puberty yet. And yes, there will be gore. Otherwise what's the point of these games? The cover is not mine and I don't own it okay I just got it off one of those sites rate this if you feel like it

Remorse
I have killed many people over my long life. Men, women, children. None have escaped the shadows that I control. It was only one tiny mistake that I made that changed my life forever. I underestimated her, and I would pay for my hubris. “For every death you have given, you will feel their pain.” What? “For every person you have killed, you will feel regret.” Wait, wait… “For every murder you have commited, you will know what you have done.” I don’t think this is going to be pretty. The power leaves her voice as she continues in a softer tone. “I will give you back what you have lost, you will feel empathy again.” Her power releases me and I fall to the ground. Diana. That was her name. I will remember it. ******** This story starts out somewhat dark, but it will lighten up after the first chapter. I tend to not enjoy the psychological tag too much since stories with the tag tend to be a little insane for my liking, but I feel that I would be remiss not putting it on this story, since a lot of it is about the psychology of the main character. All the content warnings are checked since I want to leave my options open to me for the future. I hope you enjoy.
