The Ancient Genes Chapter 28

Tring!
Tring!
As usual, Max's day started with that annoying morning alarm. Even though he hated it. he didn't have a choice. He had to get up for the morning training as he didn't want to lose 1000 FP.
He was already having enough trouble gathering FP for leveling up and creating skills. And that system was merciless to set such a heavy penalty.
So, he dragged his unwilling body out of the blankets and walked towards the bathroom.
....
After brushing his teeth and getting fresh, Max walked out of his Dorm on his toes, as he didn't want to wake anyone up.
Because every time they all met, it resulted in a mess which further resulted in Fatty getting pulverized. He thought he was lucky enough to be able to survive till that day.
...
Finally, Max got out of the dorms.
He breathed in the fresh air of the morning and he felt every pore on his body opening. He felt relaxed.
Slowly, he moved his left leg forward taking a step ahead and started jogging. Slowly and steadily, he increased his speed, until he had a hard time believing himself. He was running as fast as a car.
It looked like investing all his points in his Agility stat did the job. His speed had reached the same league as Low level mages. Although he couldn't be compared to those at the peak of low level, he was not far behind.
Obviously there were some exceptions. The wind element mages are a level above others in agility. And the same can be said for every other element.
Fire gives extra attack power.
Water gives extra concentration and perception .
Earth gives extra defensive power.
....
After a minute of running, Max reached the academy's grounds.
Seeing not a single shadow of a student on the grounds, he realised that that day he was the first one to arrive.

...
After an hour of hard work, Max finally returned back to his dorm. Although he was tired, that wasn't comparable to the day before. Looked like the stats from levelling up had started to work.
He couldn't help but felt excited at that newfound strength of his as a grin formed on his face.
"What are you grinning for? If you do that in public, you will definitely be treated as a creepy bastard." Hearing the very familiar voice, he turned back to find Wilson walking out of the wash room.
"Good Mor-."
Before he could even greet him, a familiar and domineering voice sounded in the hall.
"Do you need to let out curses in the very morning and spoil everyone's mood, Wilson?"
Max turned to his right to find August walking out of his room dressed formally in a gray suit and matching trousers along with a white shirt which made him look like a nouveau riche young master.
"Huh.. I knew it. What the hell do you want, noble dog? If you are just craving for a spanking, just say so. Why go to such lengths?" Wilson spoke with a troubled expression as his brow dropped and he shook his head as if in trouble.
Max saw August's shoulder quivering for a second, but he managed to retain the smile on his face, before speaking with a short laugh.
"Ha..ha.. consider yourself lucky. Today I have to attend a student council meeting and the President will be there, too. If it wasn't for that..." He paused as his brows became narrow and the air around him became eerie. "You would have been seven inches below." With that, he walked out of the dorm.
Hearing him, a chill ran down Max's spine.

"If you have the guts, don't forget we live in the same dorm," Wilson taunted him with an amused expression on his face, before returning to his room.
Damn
It was getting riskier day by day living alongside those freaks. And with Axle gone, it had become worse.
'Axle please return quickly. I am really missing you.'
After praying for Axle's early return, Max walked into his room and got ready for the day.
.....
.....
.....
.....
Huff....
Finally after four hours of continuous classes, his day was over because he wasn't planning to attend the General courses.
After yesterday's incident, he felt a bit uncomfortable sitting in the same class as Elly. And not to mention, if she decided to take revenge on him. He would be done for. He definitely would not like to become a laughingstock in the Academy.
.....
As Max got up to leave, he heard Fatty's voice.
"Are we going to the cafeteria?"
"Ah.. I have got some work to do and I won't be attending the last class today," Max said while scratching his head.
he totally forgot about him
"What in hell do you have to do every day?" Fatty asked with a questioning gaze.
Max couldn't help but felt his mouth shut, as he couldn't come up with an answer.
Suddenly, he felt a tug on his sleeves. Turning around, he found Fatty grabbing him.
"When will you be back?" He spoke with seriousness as his gaze pierced through Max.
Feeling his strong gaze he found it tough to lie. So he evaded his eyes while speaking with a sweetness.
"I will be back in an hour."
..
But that time it didn't work and he was caught.
"No.. don't leave me alone with those two. I..I. h..have already.. s..suffered so much," Fatty clinged to Max's hand as tears and snot bursted out of his eyes and nose.
"Back off!"
He tried to free himself as his snot reached his arms. But that Fatty was stuck like a magnet to him and refused to even budge.
Feeling helpless, he spoke while giving up.
"Fine..fine... I promise, I will try to get back as soon as I can. Now back off, you are gross."
He finally loosened his grip and Max freed himself from his clutches.
'Damn it, how much strength does he have?' Max couldn't help but cursed, feeling his hand ache.
.....
Finally getting out of the Academy, he let out a sigh of relief.
..
Now, it was time to become Shura and get into the Association.

The Tears of Kas̆dael
It was just supposed to be a game. A really, really great game, yes - but a game. Instead, Jasper got his heart ripped out by a brooding goddess and awoke to find himself in another world. No weapons, no skills. Naked. Trapped in a world full of ancient horrors, where gods and monsters still roam the earth, Jasper is forced to adapt quickly or die - and he's not ready to die. Good thing he's a mage. This is a high-fantasy novel with light LitRPG elements. It's not super-crunchy, but the system is an important part of the story. There is some light cursing and gore, but this is not a Grimdark novel. There will also be no harem. The current schedule is chapters on M-W-F of around 2000-2500 words, as well as occasional bonus chapters that provide background or insights into side characters. This is my first real attempt at writing a full novel, but the story is based on a world that I've been creating and re-creating since I was a child. I have an extensive "history" and religion, and even a semi-cohesive language system worked out, which will hopefully slowly shine through as the story progresses. I want to avoid having too many info-dumps, so I may from time to time post a bonus lore chapter that will explain some of the background for any who are interested.
