It's been a helluva week for Dr. Piper Xu. First, she crammed on making a fake serum as a ploy to the young master. Then came the dead horses that seemed to have dried up all her luck. But what really bites was the fact that the young master seemed to have been suspicious about her all this time. Her week started out really bad and got worse in a hurry.

But the odds seemed to have been in her favor lately. ​​

In all honestly, she didn't go to work for days under the excuse that she was sick. She didn't want to go to the lab, nor does she want to see her superior's face who did nothing but asked her if everything was still under control. She thought being a horse's savior wasn't fun sometimes but the glory that comes with it was so addicted she didn't want to give it up. She needed to pretend she knew something, that she was the all famous Dr. Piper Xu—the one who made the cure!

Today seemed to be her most awaited lucky day!

While she was gobbling a pair of chocolate in her bedroom, the news came in saying that the young master's horse seemed to have recovered well! What hell of a luck was that!

Of course, it will be attributed to her since she was the maker of the cure and the last doctor who had checked that damn stallion horse! Now, there's no reason for the young master to be suspicious of her, he might even came knocking on her bedroom right now and kneel in gratitude to her.

But he didn't, and she wondered why.

Not did the young master didn't came in to thank her in her quarters in the mansion. Everyone seemed to have forgotten her. If the young master's horse survived, shouldn't have everyone congratulated her at this time? But nothing came except from the message she received from her subordinate that the horse was now fine.

How odd. But maybe, maybe—just maybe because she called in sick and everyone didn't want to disturb her as per the young master's wishes! Of course! That could be it!

The Young master might not want her to be disturb knowing she was sick, but she can't confine herself in her room knowing that everybody was celebrating because the Lagdameo horse survived. She was the reason that horse survived, she must be the center of the celebration so she can't miss it!

With that, Piper Xu decided to dress herself up and go to the lab. She fixed herself and put on her best make-up and lucky shoes before she eased herself out confidently out of her room. Her quarters were situated inside the mansion like Xhemin's, so she needed a few minutes walk to reach the lab and the barn. She will just tell everyone she felt guilty for being sick knowing they were in the middle of a dilemma and pretend to come in to work even if she was still recovering. Well, that's one heck of an excuse but she can handle all the drama, besides she was already the actress starring on this starring movie. Wasn't she?

It was past ten thirty when she came in the lab building and to her frustration not one seemed to have noticed her entrance. Everybody was busy and they were far from making any celebrations at all. What's going on? She didn't remember giving them tasks the day she left, yet everybody seemed to be preoccupied about something.

She intentionally made excuses to make everyone notice her like intentionally banging on some files and furnitures, but no one seemed to care. When she makes a sound, only few looked at her, helped her with the mess she did and then continued without a word. Of course, that irritated her, but she thought today was a lucky day for her, so she better not wastes time on these little employees and just continue with the day.

She went on further the building hoping she could find any of her subordinate or Dr. Halsey, but everyone seemed to be nowhere on sight. All the significant doctors were not on the lab and so with her subordinates, where the heck was everyone?

And what were these employees up to? Who had the guts to instruct these employees to be busy with something she knew nothing about? Who dared to boss around her team when she was absent for few days?

Dr. Piper went through the front door of her office and banged the door hard! She was really mad because of her failed entrance and was ready to break everything in her office. But before she could grab a thing, she saw her answering machine light winking at her like a small black dragon.

The message was from Dr. Halsey. "Dr. Piper, I am out of town and so I want you to assist on Dr. Cyan Shun…"

Perhaps Dr. Halsey didn't know she called in absent because he was out but wait—Did she hear it right? Did he really mention Dr. Cyan? Its been a long time since Dr. Cyan was stripped out from the conversations and suddenly her superior was bubbling his name?

Because her thoughts came in hustling through her brain, she didn't catch what Dr. Halsey left on the voicemail, so she pressed the button to repeat the message again.

"Dr. Piper, I am out of town and so I want you to assist on Dr. Cyan Shun…" Oh yes there— his boss really did mention Dr. Cyan's name, but what does a stupid doctor like him had anything to do with her? Aside from he was just a once rival who failed to outshine her and got trampled down the dust?

And the message continued "I am leaving him in charge in lieu of me so make sure he got all the assistance he needed…"

"I am leaving him in charge in lieu of me"

Those words came in to Piper's Xu's spine as if some kind of sharp needles ready to pop out all her senses and patience!
