Omni-Mastery Chapter 113

"Jared!"
"Yes master!"
"How is the progress with the task you are watching over?"
"It's going well, although there are slight hindrance coming from the branch head's side, our methods are bound to succeed!"
"Remember! We can't lose 'him', 'I authorize you to use whatever means to complete this task', deliver these words to the main handler of the subject."
"As you wish master."
"Alright, leaving that matter aside, tell me how much have we lost to the mysterious 'clearer'."
"Yes, The first step of the great harvest plan was thwarted, we only managed to harvest one gate which held a small-level reserve, they main decoy team's gates have been mostly harvested, including 1 medium-level reserve acting as the trigger which was reported as empty, 2 small-level reserve ones who were cleared by the 'clearer', and lastly the counter-suspcion gate which the higher ranking team dealt with destroying all the reserve held inside…."
"So, you are saying that the plan which should have resulted in harvesting 75% of the reserves, have only resulted in a 10% harvest so far with the last large-level reserve gate's status being unknown?!"
"Yes…. master."
"I see, this isn't normal by any means, it's apparent that the 'clearer' knew something and was doing this on purpose, and if it's so then that the last gate is also under imminent danger…"
"So be it, this will be a task personally assigned to you, hurry to the last gate and intercept the 'clearer' before he enters if possible, if not, then you would have to watch the gate till he comes out and confiscate any reserve he might have harvested, bring him back alive if possible, but kill him if necessary, I will leave that to your judgement."

"Understood master!"
The kneeling shadow suddenly flashed out of the room as a frown could be spotted on the sitting dark haired silhouette.
'Humph! What a nuisance'
"Shadow one, investigate the decoy team for me."

I finally collapsed to the ground after I embedded my sword in the heart of the vicious ogre and receiving the system notif…
'Huff hah…'
1 day into the gate and I had only cleared it halfway, if this was a normal game then this gate could only be a hell difficulty dungeon!
Of course, this was relative to one's strength and the number of challengers, after all, while I could handle lv.60~70 monsters with little effort, that was only individually, in this gate which had even lv.75 monsters popping out as groups even I would have to concede….
It would require a team of 3~5 of similar abilities to mine to smoothly clear this gate, yet it was classified as a lv.40+ gate and assigned to a lv.20 team….
That only meant one thing according to my earlier experiences, the more abnormal the gate is, the more crystals it would hold, meaning it held an important position in the schemer's plan.
But despite all the problems and the effort needed, I could only say it was more than worth it! even when disregarding the importance of thwarting the evil scheme!

On the crystal side of things, I had already collected 25 crystals so far, it sounded like a small amount when compared to other gates but the main point was that it held grade-three crystals instead of one or two! One could not expect the amount found after the full clear while keeping the fact that the biggest amount of crystals would be usually found in the boss room.
On the other hand, this gate could only be considered as the paradise of leveling and training, the increase in proficiency became apparent to the point that the system started announcing it!
I even had to start using my passive 'Combat Analysis' skill which I had almost forgotten about to finish the group battles with as few injuries as possible, leveling it by two levels in a single day!

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Luck And Chronomancy
Time Magic is the best magic as everyone knows, although there are lots of unique Talents in the world. Most people only remember Haste because it is hard to get to higher Phases of Chronomancy. That is still enough to make the Talent iconic. A lucky enough Aleatory Talent can position you for greatness or leave you languishing in obscurity. The only true equality in the world is when that glowing message pops up at 8 years old. Even if it doesn't activate until you are an adult at 16 you still know. Sure you can find a new dungeon spawn and get another chance at a rare Talent, even this one, but you have to already be ready to delve into the *Far Wilds*, which is far easier with wealth or family power. This is the story of where my good fortune took me and the difference it made, even among a party of 7 others including an Arcanist. It is a journey of magic and monsters but also math, which some think is actually worse. Luckily I was born with Intelligence and Focus as my personal traits, and my parents were scholars. Of course Chronomancy can also be a frontline combat talent. Versitility well beyond other Elder Talents like Gravity, Abstraction, or Arcana. Might could have worked for me, too. I also met a runaway princess. All the best adventures have a princess. She hated being a noble and we didn't get married but it still counts. Besides she really filled out our front line. All that Leadership training came in handy. I still don't know where she's from. Who cares? How well Haste goes with giant hammers is what's important. I never learned much about anyone in the party, except the one I grew up with. I'm not a people person. I just wanted to optimize dungeon clearing time. *******Story Details******* No romance, politics, or traumatizing content, slice of life, or even dialogue. 1st person narration, like a guide/adventure log. 2000-7000 words a day, maybe 40-60% rpgish combat log with some reasoning on combat decisions, with the rest character Talent discussion and progression stuff. 8 person party with a decent variety in roles. Party members usually have 2 primary functions. Told from the support/control Chronomancer's perspective. Each party member will have 6 Basic/Background Traits, then 3 actual Talents with abilities. Capstone from their Educational Institution, Arbritrary as a gift from the temples, and Aleatory which is decided at birth, revealed at 8, and activated after adulthood at 16. Aleatory Traits ignore requirements and are random why is why they are so important. They'll gain new Talents from finding Dungeons to consume in the *Wilds*. Mature dungeons in cities can provide *Challenges* to raise the Phase of a Talent, up to 3 times from 1 to 4. Each character will get to roughly 8 non-Trait Talents. Attributes come exclusive from Talents, are required by Talents, and provide various effects as well. I designed about 220 Talents with abilities, 4 in each of 4 phases. "Traits" are just Attribute stuff. I'm not sure how many will be detailed in the story, more than 100 for sure. I used Talents because I want to be free of the legacy of tabletop. Half those rules are just because of the limitations inherent in a pre-computer ttrpg. This story mostly uses combat Talents, although like 1/3 of the 220 are for crafting and other society and economy stuff. If you really wanted to be a Thief you might take Intuition, Awarness, and Might for Basic Traits and Deftness, Manipulation, and Trickery for Family/Education. Then you'd pick Acrobatics, and Climbing for Educational Capstone and Arbitrary traits. You Aleatory Trait might be Shadow(Light/Dark) Magic, Umbramancy. A Bard might swap Dexterity for Charisma, Music for Acrobatics, and have gotten Illusion(Shadow/Sound(Air/Force)) for their Aleatory Trait.

Cascadia
Corvayne, a warrior exiled from his desert village, ends up in the backwater colony city Cascadia. He meets a strange girl, jumps through a portal to another world, and starts a journey to protect her and discover the secrets and treasures waiting in the mysterious rifts they call 'Towers'. Follow Corvayne as he fights throngs of monsters and explores totally-not-Seattle with Wick, his foul mouthed girlfriend. Along the way Corvayne will accumulate a rotating party of friends and misfits, journey into through dungeons full of dangers and loot, and learn to use a bevy of strange powers as he faces threats inside the mysterious 'Towers' and through the city of Cascadia, which hosts secrets of it's own, all while trying to unravel his tangled past. Updates: Mondays + Whenever I feel like it. ****************** This story features: -A cast who are mostly good friends and mostly good people, despite exploring weird and dangerous worlds. -A mix of dungeons, dragons, and exploring the pine scented city of Cascadia. -Very light LitRPG elements that slowly seep into the story. Learning the system is a challenge that takes the characters a long time. -A strange universe with a mix of both standard magic and powers that twist reality itself. Some wizards know how to cast fireball, but a few can curse someone to be lost for eons. -No explicit sex scenes. Warning is for implied sex scenes and some nudity. -Lots of blood, mostly monster blood. -A long planned story and long character arcs. I have the ending in mind as I write. -Single character PoV, with plans to add bonus chapters for other characters. [A winner of the Royal Road Writathon challenge.]
